  1. Disagree lol. If you read back a bit in the thread, it states that UDP gets 25% off Supper Club. SDP gets $15+tip. Although, I have UDP, and it's showing that I can book for the $15+tip price.

I originally purchased SDP, and paid $17.70pp upcharge for Supper Club. My father and sister received SDP last week as part of the get-two-perks promo. The current promo is SDP and not UDP, right? When they booked Supper Club they paid $26.50pp upcharge.

  2. Where the heck does $26.50 come from? It's more than the $15 upcharge with SDP, and it's less than the non-sdp rate.

Oh, maybe I'm an idiot - or NCL's voodoo pricing makes me feel like an idiot.

My confusion stems from my wacky booking. I had originally purchased the SDP, then rebooked my room after the pick-two promo came out. They credited back by SDP purchase, and they must have kept my Supper Club upcharge at $17.70

The more I think about it...

It appears if you purchase SDP, the upcharge total is $17.70pp. If you get the SDP as a promo, the upcharge is $26.50pp. Agree, disagree?

  3. I thought it was a fair inquiry. We're obviously all hoping it's meaningless hearsay.

What about an update in general??

For those on the 7-day, how's the crowd been in the District Brew House? During the day? In the evening?

How are the beer selections? Any noticeable shortages of any particular drafts or bottles?

  4. I'm so confused about the Supper Club with SDP.

I had purchased the 4-meal SDP, and then made reservations for the Supper Club. I was charged, as expected, $17.70 per person ($15 upcharge + 18%).

Fast forward a few weeks, and my parents could no longer resist the opportunity to jump on the escape with us. They book their room with free UBP and UDP. When my dad booked the Supper Club, he was charged $26.50pp. When he questioned it, he was told "all that is left are floor seats which cost more". I'm not buying it... both of our reservations state "For the Record - Floor".

Fast forward a couple days, and my sister and brother in law could no longer resist the opportunity to jump on the escape with us. They book their room with free UBP and UDP. When my sister booked the Supper Club, she was charged $26.50pp.

Where the heck does $26.50 come from? It's more than the $15 upcharge with SDP, and it's less than the non-sdp rate.

  5. Along similar lines... we'll be a party of 4 in an inside cabin on the Escape. Are we allowed to set the kids up with blankets in a public restroom stall so we'll have more room to spread out? Alternatively, I was thinking we could leave them up on deck 17 with sleeping bags, as everyone will just assume they're camped out in line for Margaritaville.

  6. And, yes, we have dropped a car here without issue. There aren't very many convenient gas stations near by, though, so it was a bit of a pain to gas the car up before dropping it off. Drop off was easy, though, and we had a good driver who took us to the port without issues. We are doing it again for our upcoming cruise next year.

    Great... thanks for sharing!

  7. I've been watching the Escape threads over the past week, and I don't think I've seen anything mentioned about Cellars - the Mondavi family wine bar.

Has anybody checked this out? What's the deal with it? Is there greater selection of wines by the glass here, all inclusive of UBP (if < $15)?

How's the setup? Is the venue a spot for hanging out?

  8. Sorry I was too busy drinking then to worry about lunch lol.

Motley - inspire us. Can you provide an overview of your UBP consumption over the three days? When did you start, what were you drinking and how many, when did you crash? Any drinks that were new to you and either a winner or loser? Don't let us down.

  9. Two Avis locations show up for Miami with the same address, and I believe this is the location that offers a free shuttle to the Port of Miami.

Does it matter which one I select?

99 Southeast 2nd Street, Miami, Florida, United States-(M6I)

99 Southeast 2nd Street, Miami, Florida, United States-(Q8M)

The phone number listed for the location has been busy all day. Avis online chat was useless.

Does anybody have any experience with dropping a car off at this location and using the free shuttle? Reviews for this Avis location are scary at best, but so long as we can leave a car behind and get to the ship I'll be happy.

    Thanks!

    Doug

  10. I find it funny when parents see something that says 16 and over only and say I think its okay for my kid who is under sixteen. That would be like finding a restaurant with a sign that says no shirt no shoes no service and you say I think I should be allowed to come in here without a shirt on lol.

An announcement was very clearly made at the start of Million Dollar Quartet that videos and photographs were strictly prohibited. Why someone had to then be personally spoken to is beyond me.

Because I paid 2500 if i wanted to jump on stage i should be allowed to

You're an original, Motley, and I respect that. Sort of. You're entertaining, that's for sure! I did get a kick out of your videos... thanks for sharing. :)

  11. The other poster may have been right about it said 16 and over only. I find it funny when parents see something that says 16 and over only and say I think its okay for my kid who is under sixteen.

To your point, if there is indeed indication that it's "16 and over only", I will in fact cancel the reservation for the two kids in our party. If, similar to Rock of Ages, it states "this show may not be suitable for children", I will allow my discretion to take over.

Regardless, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

  12. I really don't think it's an issue for a 13-year old either. The 4-year old is definitely out of the question though!!

That's good to hear about 13... thanks. I'll keep my reservations and keep an eye on what others are saying.

We had many "kids" with us at Rock of Ages on the BA - and they all had fun. Judge away. :)

  13. Have you seen The Breakfast Club? Common sense works too lol.

Yeah - but it's been a few years (or decades). From what I recall, I don't think I'd think twice if I saw a 13 year old watching it, so maybe my memory is failing me.

Where did common sense fail me? I know NCL mentions age appropriateness for other show descriptions, and this one had no mention of it.

  14. We had similar frustrations with the BA in August for a party of 15. If you can, just make multiple reservations around the time you want for the number in your party. Once onboard, call the reservations number and tell them you're all together - and they'll link/combine all of the individual reservations.

I'd still show up a few mins early, and verify at each hostess stand that they know you want seating together. It was never an issue for us... all of our frustrations were unnecessary.

  15. The Dailies say 16+.

I suppose adding that disclaimer to the show description for online reservations is part of "working out the kinks" of a new ship. They certainly make no indication as to age-appropriateness...

We’re serving more than Breakfast at The Supper Club. Spend an evening with a Brain an Athlete, a Princess, a Criminal and a Basketcase at For The Record: The Brat Pack. This unique 360-degree post-modern cabaret brings the movies to life through their original soundtracks. Immerse yourself in the glorious 1980’s at this feast for the senses. "Twist and Shout" with Ferris, "Try A Little Tenderness" with Ducky and let Jake Ryan light your "Sixteen Candles." No leg warmers required.

  16. That's a tough one. I believe the Dawn is heading into dry dock mid 2016. Are you planning before or after that? I thought I saw that the Gem got a new waterslide when it was in dry dock a couple weeks ago. The Dawn doesn't currently have a waterslide in the main pool area - maybe it'll get one?

The aft kiddie splash area was rather cute when we were on it a few years back.

We were on the BA in August with kids of all ages, and they all had a blast. We're heading out on the Escape with kids in January. We're then taking the Dawn without kids in November. We purposely picked the Dawn for the cruise without kids. After BA and Escape, I didn't want to hear "we're bored". To be fair, our kids are older than yours, and may have different expectations.

  17. If "manipulation" is the fact that they do not book these venues solid, but hold out a percentage of tables for people who do not like to make reservations or pre plan, then yes, there is manipulation. Not very Freestyle if every restaurant were totally sold out for the week on day 1 or even pre cruise.

Teppanyaki may be the exception as there is a very limited number of seatings available on each evening. Other than that, there's a good chance you can be seated at any other restaurant with no reservation just by walking up.

I honestly didn't know that. I was under the impression that if there was no reservation availability at a restaurant then there wasn't availability at all. I've likely even misinterpreted the interactive displays... thinking the "red" icon meant no availability. I'm laughing at myself, because what you say makes sense and I have no idea where my previous beliefs originated from.

You mention Teppanyaki is the possible exception. When we were seated at 8pm, with reservations for after 9, there were only 2 tables (15 and 15) occupied in the other room, with every other table in the venue empty. It was eerily quiet, which was a surprise when we were told there was no availability for the earlier time we wanted.

    Thanks for the info!
