  1. I must say my poor little brain can't relate to this thread. I look at a vacation as an excuse to indulge and not worry about calories and weight. I worry about that the rest of the year. Once I get home I get on the scale and whatever weight I have gained I watch my calories and exercise and take it back off. My philosophy is to not hold back and miss out while on vacation and fix any issues after its over. Guess I am just a hedonist.

  2. Hello,

Two years ago my sister and I took a Viking Ocean cruise (Mediterranean Odyssey) and absolutely loved it. We shared a cabin with two beds and it worked out great. Now we would like to take a cruise and bring along our mother. We are all single so just the 3 of us. Before calling our travel agent and getting her all excited does anyone know if Viking has any rooms that can accommodate 3 people or do they offer reduced rates for a third person in a separate cabin?

    Thanks,

    Jeffrey

  3. I have thought about river cursing but not sure I would be happy with the lack of aninimity that a river cruise allows. River cruises have such wnderful itenieries all over the world but as a private person not sure it would be to my liking

  4. I see Viking offered some new Southeast Asia trips. I was looking forward to these offerings but they seem to be in the wrong months for ideal weather and the iteniaries seem somewhat lacking a great overview of the area. I may purchase the Southeast Asia and Hong Kong trip. http://www.vikingcruises.com/oceans/cruise-destinations/asia-australia/southeast-asia-hong-kong/index.html Any thought? Surprised it spends 3 days in Ho Chi Minh City.

  5. It's part of the incentive to book to a higher class of room. Viking does not promise you the excusion of your choice or time of your choice. Simply a slightly larger room is not the only thing you get when you book a more expensive Catagory.

I know I choose the P.V class based on the fact I would have a better chance of getting reservations at my preferred time into the restaurants and excursions. Otherwise I could have saved some money and dealt with a slightly smaller room but still with a veranda.

I am sure many other people did the same thing as myself for the same reasons and viking is counting on that so that they can run a successful business

  6. Thanks for the advice and glad to hear Viking is good with BYOB. I am curious if they offer a decent by the bottle selection for purchase only cause I don't want to wonder around an Italian port in August with glass or alcohol while trying to enjoy the sights.

    Cheers to all!

  7. I agree. You can book directly with Viking or use a TA who gives a huge discount off the published promotion.

Wait..Is it really possible that a Travel Agent can get you a discount more than Viking direct will offer in the United States? I delt with a TA when I booked my ocean cruise and very much regret it..she got the massive commission for doing nothing and now Viking does not want to talk to me when I have the simplest of questions that my TA does not understand. I am still trying to figure out in this day and age with the internet what use a TA serves...never again..deal with Viking directly is my advice..I don't need a TA to tell me something I could learn by spending 5 minutes online
