  1. On the Netherland side of the Island I found this law "Individuals may fly with some drones, as they adhere to the rules. The drone example must always be visible to the pilot. And within the urban area can not be flown."

For the French side it seems to be a lot more restrictive. Found this - "Outdoor use of flying machines, even small and uninhabited, is considered an aviation activity and therefore falls under the regulations applicable to civil aviation. Two texts 17/12/2015 define security regulations for the use of unmanned civil aircraft:"

However I have seen several users on both sides with no issues.

  2. That's great. I knew that you couldn't get your TA or HAL to retain your free flights and other perks earlier so I'm so glad you got all that resolved. Enjoy your cruise. I can't wait to go on mine.

Yes, they ended up honoring the flight promo and also explore 4. It would be interesting to know who your TA is. Our TA stated that they were only honoring those offers for our specific TA agency.

  3. Hi tgeoneta, I finally received my cruise invoice and I'm glad to say that my TA and HAL did not let me down. As mentioned earlier, we only had to pay the additional $350 together with the extra mandatory port fees/taxes to switch from a 7 day to a 12 day cruise. HAL also paid for rebooking our flights and offered us $100 OBC.

Thanks, that's exactly what are TA offered.

  4. HAL is offering the same per diem rate that you paid on Oosterdam, so the online prices are not what you would pay. Your travel agent dropped the ball on this one. They should have called HAL immediately...told them the cruise you wanted to substitute and made sure the price was not the current price. Many people received upgraded cruises at the same price, received additional OBC and kept any perks or promos that they had with the original booking on Oosterdam. HAL provided a special phone

number......not the general reservation line, they cannot do it for you......who know how to rebook these cruises and give you the very best deal possible. It's not too late to have your TA call HAL and negotiate a cruise for you. Just make sure you call the Accounting Department phone number and not the reservation line.

I had a promotion of FREE HAL provided air and explore 4, which they are not honoring on a new cruise. The rate per day was higher because of these amenities. They are only willing to transfer that higher rate to a new sailing without the additional perks.

  5. I certainly would but HAL won't talk to me - everything was booked onboard but since then given to our usual travel agency - as neither really seem to earn their commission I have already regretted that second part! I have contacted guest relations in Seattle myself by e-mail and will call the travel agency again - but I'm getting rather fed up with the hassle - will look at other cruise lines now for the birthday present I'm planning to give away  . The main problem is that we'll have to switch from a 7-day-cruise to either 12 or 15 days. And as the prices are inflated right now because of Explore4 I'm not willing to pay in full for a cruise that has several ports in their itinerary we have already visited several times or are apt to change to whatever ( Koningsdam=Istanbul!!!). So I might be better off with waiting until that promotion expires to get a really fair rate again or look elsewhere.

But be it as it is - congratulations to you and the good deal they gave you!! :)

Same here, I got fed up and just booked with RCL, they have a decent Labor Day sale going on now.

  6. I noticed when I did an early morning price check that my sailing had disappeared. Later that day someone on CC spoke to a Hal representative and posted confirming a redeployment. In about three days my TA received notification from HAL, including suggested alternatives and offers. However, it took almost another week for HAL to set up a rep to prepared to exclusively handle rebookings from that cancellation. I must say that HAL bent over backwards to compensate for disappointment and inconvenience.

So I am in the same boat(no pun intended) and trying to reschedule, what did they offer? Our original included airfare and Explore 4

  7. We are wanting to book Rome in Limo, the Rome in a day tour. Our ship is in port from 8a to 9pm and the tour states that it is 9 hours. Can we have plenty of "free time" and just have Rome in Limo take us back later around 8pm? or will we have to find alternative transportation? We were planning to do just 2 in a sedan.
