  1. First off, Princess has priced their drinks much more reasonably than other lines. And don't you think they would have the data, that if it showed that they made more money with the BOGO, they'd still have it? If it was making more money than not having it, why would they get rid of it?

They have also made their drinks weaker. Just about every drink (even martinis) has so much mix (and sugar) and so little alcohol that you would probably achieve the same effect by eating raw sugar cubes. It's not cost effective either using 10 ounces of mix in every pint glass so with BOGO that would literally be 3 ounces of alcohol and 20 ounces of mix.

  2. If you get off and back on the ship really early they aren't set up to take it. I was prepared to give it over but after security nobody was around so I took it back to the cabin. I did not drink any of it while on the ship (already had the package) but since I got off the ship solely to go get Guava berry and it was hot out I opted to go early and get back on.

  3. I just got off on Sunday.

I had pre-purchased the unlimited "highest" level hoping that it may be quicker than normal and found that the only time it was really reliable was 2-7AM otherwise there were many websites that would never load. I needed it for work purposes and found that the emails did come in regularly but once in a while I could not get an email sent. I found basic internet searches via google were the worst and if the page you wanted to go to had anything interactive, it might not load at all.

It was also a PITA trying to use their intranet while connected and browsing but that could have been due to my using chrome on my phone and not safari.

If it was slow at the highest possible speeds (so they claim) it would have been near impossible to do anything if you had the basic one.

I wonder if some of this is due to how they are directing the traffic in/out their servers because I find it hard to believe that every person who was using the internet at 11AM had the exact same package I did. For my next cruise I'll hope it improves or that I don't have to stay in touch via email

  4. Wanting to try Pinchos Tapas on our upcoming cruise. Is it open for lunch and dinner? How does the Speciality Dining Credit Work there? Anything you would recommend?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I would not use the dining credit for tapas because it, and food republic are inexpensive compared to the other restaurants. We ate there twice at night and ate plenty for less than $10 each. I do believe they are open for lunch but not sure about port days as many things open later.

  5. Choir of Men - Part II - I called NCL back after your post (thank you Mademypoint!), and spoke to another representative. She said it was $19.19, and it is $15.99 on Thursday (effective July 1st). She apologized, cancelled my original reservation, re-booked the same date and time for $19.19 and refunded me 21 bucks! Thanks again for your input - I appreciate it!

    Enjoy the show it's awesome!

  6. I echo the sentiments about the Tapas bar! We ate there twice.

For our "three" we did Cagney's, Le Bistro and La Cucina. The ribeye at Cagney's was sublime and much too big for me to eat more than half.

We only did the main dining room one night, was unimpressed with the service and the amount of time we had to wait. We enjoyed breakfast in there though, no wait and fresh food.

We did O'Sheehan's the last night (burgers were yummy). I'd also had lunch there and loved the corned beef.

  7. Please tell me what hotel rooms this weekend are under $100..I would love to hear this. I have lived in NYC all my life and KNOW this isn't true. I currently live in Manhattan. Even hotels that charge by the hour on the west side get close to a hundred bucks after 3 hours. LOL but true.

I've stayed at the club quarters in the financial district for 99 a night on a weekend. Many of the hotels down in this part of the city are inexpensive because there's very little going on in this part of town.

  8. I read on twitter from a passenger currently on the ship that some are speculating that there is more wrong with the ship than they are being told. Maybe that has something to do with it??? Guy on twitter's name is Greg. He's being quoted in lots of the local news stories. He has photos on twitter too. He has been tweeted by lots of news people and Greg has granted all of them permission to use his photos.

The same guy who has a cabin on the 7th floor  and obviously isn't familiar with cruising in general?

  9. I absolutely LOVE the sandwiches at the international cafe. I wound up at the buffet when we boarded but most people think they charge for the sandwiches so it's never very crowded. They are not big sandwiches either, the desserts are small and the salads are yummy. They might be open when you board.

We just got off her on Saturday.

  10. I played in the slot tournaments, played the hold em poker machine and then the last time I played in there it was three card poker which I only did to use up the remainder of my "gambling" money and on my last hand (I went in blind, those who have played the game know what that is) I hit a straight flush and left the casino +500 and when we booked Regal for this weekend I got the casino credit.

  11. I'm surprised they did not include the incidents of Noro from Feb 2014. We were on B2B 49 day South America repositioning cruise beginning Feb 2014. Here are two of the letters that were given to passengers throughout that 49 day cruise..... one from Feb 25, 2014 and one from April 3, 2014. I do know that the CDC became involved in April (when we saw it in the media as the Crown began her Coastal Calif run).

Poor Crown Princess - Nice ship! I love the layout. I sure hope that the scheduled Spring dry dock will get her cleaned out and Noro free :)

Oh, Here is something I've not seen yet as a precaution...

    - try to get your own drinks in the buffet. We noticed that the wait staff who brought us drinks often touched the top of the cup/glass when bringing us a drink; these were the same wait staff that cleared tables from those who finished their meals.

Well since the wait staff is trained to ignore parties of one, that was never a problem for me when I dined without my friends. I always got my drinks and watched over my shoulder to make sure the waiters did not decide to take that opportunity to clear off the table.

  12. I said "I think," geez, take a deep breath. I think we can agree that the entire process was a disgrace. I can't wait until our Jan 30 cruise where we embark at 93 and disembark at 46.

    Did you miss your flight?

Oh no doubt, it was. Just a bit frustrated at how princess handled the whole thing and how they have refused to respond to emails on the subject. I didn't mean to snap at you... if you were lucky enough to get off when you were supposed to then there's yet another issue because we were in the crown grill with a whole lot of other people who had flights to catch and none of us were allowed to leave.

I'm also still not surprised noro is there, I'm betting the dust on the bathroom shelves and coffee stains are still in E209  too.

Fortunately, I made my flight because security is efficient at LAX. If there had been a line I would not have. They did find the five day old bottle of water that I had taken with me on our excursion in Puerto Vallerta and had forgotten to take out when I got back to my cabin.

  13. I do not know. There was a group of tags for people with flights before noon (perhaps it was 1:00), and I think they were off the ship by 10:00, which is still far too close for comfort for me. If I had a noon or earlier flight, I would have done walk-off.

I wasn't talking about Noro - I was talking about the ship being a mess. I should have started a new paragraph to be clearer.

Absolutely NOT true!!! We were NOT allowed to leave the ship until close to 10:30 and that was only because we were escorted by someone who was stationed for premier guests at the crown grill. Then we had to wait for them to fill up the buses (they never ask for your name so lots of people ride the shuttle for free) so it was after 12 before I got to the airport (if you are at terminal 7 you are really hosed as they stop at every single terminal, unload and reload all the luggage) and through security.

The problem was EVERYONE decided to do walk off!! Nobody could tell where the walk offs ended and the regular color coded passengers began but at least two out of 10 people had NO luggage at all with them while they were in line.

  14. The ship is staffed with a lot of new and poorly trained staff in the dining rooms! At least three admitted to being on the ship for under a month.

Without a bar steward in the dining room, the waiter/assistant are required to take all drink orders then go stand in line so I don't put all the blame on them for inadequate service.

Just be glad that if you ask for a wine recommendation and get something other than "yes" that is a better trained waiter than the one we had.
