We like to take the water taxi to Caye Caulker. Neat island to tour, then spend time relaxing with the view of The Split from the Lazy Lizard..,

Please provide more details to this option.

Ferry ride - how long and cost?

Renting golf cart - supplier and cost?

Things to do besides shopping. Tours or beaches?

    TY for any assistance 🙂

We have the french Polynesian coming up in March/April from Sydney to Tahiti.  Not exactly Coco Cay!

Coco Cay and Nassau are two of my least favorite ports but for me this cruise was just about a quick getaway. I love sea days, so I am happy I get two of those. This will be my sister's first cruise I hope she has a good time.  The ship and ports really do not showcase cruising at its best but it is what I had booked and a solo and she asked to join 🙂 Your cruise sounds like amazing.

  3. Going to be at Coco Cay later this month. Can we bring our own snorkel gear OR do we have to book the snorkel excursion to get the the area where you can snorkel?

Also I have seen several mentions of sea lice and jelly fish, has anyone been recently that can speak to current conditions.

    TY - Happy Sailing :-)

This looks very good.  I'll have to check it out.

  5. We are scheduled to arrive in Vancouver at midnight. We will just need a room to sleep and shower. Should we stay close to airport once we arrive or close to the cruise port?

Will hotel shuttle be available that late if offered?

If staying at airport what is the best way to get to cruise port the next day? Approximate cost?

I know staying at either end has it's pros and cons. I am more interested in the safety and ease of getting around after midnight. My husband is mildly handicapped but a walk to the cruise port of up to 1 mile is doable.

    TIA

  6. The combination of good Snorkeling and shells are not common in Antigua. The best beaches for Snorkeling with easy access would be Galleon Beach, and Pineapple Beach, in the order of preference.

The best beach for shells currently is Valley Church as you suggested. There is a beach called Shell beach that used to be great for finding shells; however, over the past few year the area has been a bit commercialize, i dont even think there is an accessible beach there anymore.

I think your plans can be accomplished if you are confident enough to rent a car and drive in Antigua, or hire a cab that is willing to do this for you.

Another option would be to find a tour operator. The only issue, in December, it is too busy for excursions to do wet and dry combo.

If you decide on Galleon beach, you should see me there on that day, i can always direct you on where you will see the most.

Currently we have over 26 sea turtles living permanently. It is fun hanging with them.

We do not feed, or touch them as they are endangered, we only observe them naturally.

Thank you @skylork :-) I will pass this info to my small group in a couple of weeks when we start nailing down plans. How far from the port is Galleon Beach and Pineapple Beach. Estimated taxi fare. TY

  7. Also, my role in this thread is to function as a resource for persons unfamiliar with Antigua. I am an Antiguan, also associated with tourism industry. I use this knowledge to help in whatever way i can.
I am interested in a beach that has good snorkeling and shelling. Where would you suggest? We are a small group of 4 and one person in our party has some mobility issues so I think Valley Church is out :-(
  8. $2.00 each :p

Our Slot Pull went great thanx to all the helpful info here and especially to Ann for the spreadsheet :) I preloaded my spreadsheet at home with the 27 people that expressed an interest and arranged by cabin # (best Idea ever) so easy to find each player when they were ready to play. We had a total of 32 players and all but 1 of the original 25 played.

I put it out there before we sailed on our Roll Call that I would collect the $15.00 at our "Meet and Greet" at sail away for all those wanting to prepay. I would say about half prepaid the day before. Once a player paid they were given a card with their "Pull #" with instructions to keep the card as this was their receipt to collect winnings.

We also as a group decided to ask the Casino Host for goodies. Each player received a $5.00 match play coupon on and keychain plus we had a 1st and 2nd place prize cup with assorted goodies from the casino.

I fed all the money into the machine prior to play and called each person when it was their turn to spin. What a great group we had. Everybody cheered the other players and we had a blast. The $2.00 win was just icing on the cake.

I took our winning chit out of the machine and the Casino cash cage attended graciously made my 32 piles of $17.00 for us.

I would most definitely would do it again. I would also recommend putting all money in at one time as we did.

    Good Luck to all!

  9. Ann, you are awesome! I have read this entire thread and collected a wealth of information. I would have made the BIG mistake of alerting the casino host prior had I not read this thread.

How is it I have been on 27 cruises and never attend a group slot pull? I have no idea  Any ho.. somebody on our roll call had it listed as an activity to do IF someone would volunteer to organize it. Well that's me! I love the casino and this sounds like bunches of fun.

I would love to receive your spreadsheet to pjspieces hot mail you know the rest right?

    Thank you so very much

  10. I know everyone is anxious.....

Also, we sail on Mar 3. I'll try to get copies of the menus from the MDR as well as Blu. Anything else anyone would like to see while I'm there??

We are also on this sailing. So ready for a vacation. I plan to read, people watch, sip martinis and relax for five whole days. Oh, and a bit of gambling too. :p

  11. My booking (made in May 2013) included the "classic beverage package" for free. Back then the "classic package" included cocktails & frozen drinks, now it appears the "classic package" does not. Do you think my package will include cocktails or not?

It doesn't seen right to change things after the fact. We sail in March and the price we paid isn't the deal I was paying for if cocktails are not included.

I will need to call my agent to confirm.
