  1. OP has faster to the fun. There will not be lines. I think OP is asking how soon to get to port to enjoy the maximum time on the ship. I have sailed out of Galveston 4 times. Get there by 10. If you have to wait oh well. happy cruising

You hit it right on! Thank you! I was thinking about 10am but we didn't want to wait around either a long time waiting for the other passengers to get off and the boat ready for embarkation.

  2. and I've got about 420 days to go! I guess that's the one bad thing about booking so far in advance ha! it's been a LONG time! we went on our first cruise on Conquest out of NO in 2005, In 2006 we took kids on a short cruise out of LA and haven't been cruising since. It's taken a lot of years to save up enough to go again! This time we'll be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary!

  3. Just curious as to what the aprox embarkation times are for the Magic?? I did purchase a FTTF. what time should we arrive at the port?? I know it really depends on how soon everyone gets off etc. but still curious. Our first cruise we arrived later morning and there was a huge line already.

  4. As soon as you board you make a mad dash for the Excursions desk in the Main Lobby. Space is limited and it goes fast - but they may open up a second tour if the first fills up. I think it was $75/person in December.

I doubt you'd be exposed to excessive EMI, but you do go to the galley, engine control room and the bridge. Of those three, it is possible to have EMI but I have no idea how much and if it would even approach the levels needed to mess with a modern pacemaker. That said, if it DID cause issues then you would get a tour of the infirmary as well. :D

The tour requires climbing / descending very steep crew ladders. Anybody with mobility problems and / or endurance issues would likely have to abort the tour 1/3 of the way into it. But you would get a tour of the steakhouse, MDR kitchen, cold/dry storage and the engine room before you would need to break off and avoid multiple flights of stairs.

I have no mobility problems whatsoever now! Before the PM that was a different story--I'm rarin to go now and do whatever with no restrictions!!

  5. When can you make reservations for a Behind the Fun Tour?? We're booked for the Magic Aug 2015! That's something that really appeals to my husband an engineer (civil)!! and do they allow people with Pacemakers on that tour?? or would you be exposed to too much electrical/magnetic interference??

  6. Ok it seems if we were to rent a car at Houston Hobby we'd need to return it to Texas city since I can't seem to find any place in Galveston who will take it back on Sunday. Question is how do we get from Texas City to Galveston on morning of cruise?? any ideas?? seems like the only other alternative is to rent car at hobby and return car to hobby on the morning of the cruise and take the carnival shuttle to the port??

  7. We just booked a cruise for Aug 2015 for our 30th wedding anniversary! Way stoked! My question is we are planning on coming in a few days earlier and do Johnson Space center tour. I'm kinda thinking that we'll be staying at one of the "Hobby" hotels either Best Western or Drury as we've always had good luck at those hotels (other places) and the prices are far better than what I was able to find in Galveston--although we've never been to TX, Houston or Galveston areas. It's only the 2 of us but what mode of transportation from the hotel to Johnson and back would be most economical for 2. Also we'll need trans from the hotel to pier and back to airport after the cruise--although we're thinking probably the carnival transfers?? (we can just go back to airport on day of cruise and catch the transfer if needed. what are some good suggestions?? since we are totally unfamiliar with Houston, Galveston or the surrounding areas. (we are going on the Carnival Magic) thanks

  8. Booked our 30th anniversary cruise for next Aug 2015 on Magic! can hardly wait! we've also decided to come in a few days earlier and go to Johnson Space center before the cruise. my question is --we will be flying into hobby airport (most likely) and staying at one of the airport hotels either the best western or Drury --what transportation options are available to get us from the hotel to the Johnson space center and back. we'll most likely just take shuttle (on cruise day) back to airport and grab the carnival transportation to the port unless there are better options--not really sure at this point--don't want to spend a fortune --also looking at getting rental car for the first couple of days but thinking there might be less expensive options to get to Johnson. anyone familiar with the area speak out--thanks.

  9. Just tried that recipe and it is WONDERFUL! no AWESOME!! maybe FABULOUS!:) :) anyway we're in "heaven" and I don't think I want to return:D

For us this will probably be the closest thing to a cruise for a while so it definitely brings back memories!!:)

Thankyou for posting this! I have tried other similar recipes and nothing has come close! It's also really simple to make too!!

  10. Sometimes I think there is a little misrepresentation on RCCL's part. When the JS prices went down on Monarch, I was considering changing (we were booked for 2 adjoining cabins on deck 4 (Monarch) I thought by the description etc. that if we got a jr. Suite we'd have a bigger cabin (without a wall separating us.) Then after seeing the board and other comments by Monarch cruisers I decided we were better off right where we were. We're staying with our 2 adjoining rooms, however I do feel that RCCL misrepresented the JS sizes. What I'm wondering is if their description of the JS is a "one size fits all" type--rather than submitting for each and every ship--they just have a basic description that they use for all ships. whether or not it's the same for a particular ship. I've heard that JS are bigger and more spacious on the newer ships.

  11. I just sent out a letter to the conquest captains: Carlo Queirolo or Massimo Marino --Now i just find that they are on different ships spread out and not on the conquest. I addressed the letter to captains: Carlo Queirolo or Massimo Marino, Carnival Corporation, Carnival Conquest...etc.

Do you think they will get to the right place?? I hope so.

(We wanted to see if my DH could get a special tour.)
