I've not taken the slow ferries but I can tell you how to find them.

All of the slow crossings depart from Calata Porta di Massa, about a half mile on foot from the cruise port.

The slow crossings are all run by Caremar and take one hour (the fast crossings take 35 minutes).

You can find the schedule for your date here:  CAREMAR | Traghetti per Capri da Napoli, Traghetti e Aliscafi Napoli-Capri

Thank you for the reply & info

  2. Having been to Naples several times and been to Amalfi, Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri we thought we would go to Procida on our next visit to Naples, in June.   Although I’m sure we took the hydrofoil to Capri and it was okay, from what I’ve read the hydrofoil to Procida can be a rough crossing.   One of our party would definitely feel ill if this was the case and we thought we might try the car ferry instead.    Has anyone done this crossing on the car ferry and if so can you walk to the port it leaves from and was the journey okay.    And other info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  3. Thank you for your replies.  Apologies for late response, but I’ve had covid (better now than when cruise due).

Think would prefer to stay in Venice.   Can anyone advise the easiest way to get from Piazzale Roma to the train station, with luggage.

  4. Hi, looking for some advise.  Will be travelling from Treviso airport to Venice (think easiest way is bus to Tronchetto).   Cruise leaving from Trieste.   We have 2 nights pre cruise and one night post cruise.   Our thoughts are stay one night in Venice and travelling to Trieste by train, then stay one night in Trieste before cruise.  On return travel back to Venice for overnight before flight next afternoon.

Does anyone have any tips or advise and also hotel recommendations.   Initially thinking 1st night either near train station or getting people mover to Piazzale Roma, to limit having to drag suitcases around.    We have never been to Venice before so any help appreciated. Thanks

If it helps, I've had a couple of replies (initially) from @MSC_Cruises_UK on twitter. But they aren't the best...... I know cruises not around the UK have different rules and are allowing non vaccinations. So it stands that I imagine that the only reason it isnt from the UK is the UK's guidelines. So once they are removed on the 19th, MSC UK I cant see why they wouldnt follow the rest of their fleet. But I imagine they cant come out and say that until after the 19th, or incase our Delta issue causes a few changes again.

Thank for for the response.   So possibly this could mean only negative tests required after the 19th.   Fingers crossed as this would be the 3rd cancellation in the past year.

  6. Hi looking to see if anyone can shed any light on this,   Daughter and 2 friends are booked on MSC Virtuosa 19th Aug.   They have now changed their policy meaning you have to have had both vaccines.   One friend has only had one vaccine and the 2nd is not due until the week of the sailing.    My daughter emailed MSC as she has had no correspondence regarding this and only happened to read it by chance on social media.  Their response simply stated that they were only contacting passengers who were due to travel up until 19th July.    She has tried phoning, only to be on hold for 55mins before having to give up.   I presume that the 19th July cut off is due to the relaxation of gov restrictions expected at that time, but surely the 2 vaccine rule would still remain.    Has anyone sailing on Virtuosa managed to speak to MSC or can anyone clarify this.  Thanks
