I was shocked on our last cruise to see so many people reading and sending emails at breakfast in the MDR. I am sure most of it was unnecessary.

Ah, but some of us who cruise run our own businesses - and answering emails whenever they come in is a necessity, even when on a cruise. It's a fact of my life - I have to stay in touch with people if I want to earn a living. So it's not about wasting a cruise - far from it - but keeping everything in balance. Now I don't answer emails in the MDR at breakfast (only in the stateroom), but if people do, I don't assume that what they are doing is unnecessary or an inappropriate use of time - I have no idea and my view is that it's their business how they spend their cruise time.

  2. I have been lurking on Cruise Critic for the past few years after being active when I first joined in 2004 . But I feel I must post to thank everyone for posting the photos and the commentary on this thread. We are booked on the Millennium on 30 March for the China/South Korea/Japan cruise and all your information is very much appreciated.

In return, I will try and do a live review of our cruise which I've never done before - although I keep my trip journals at https://travellingcruising.me. This will be our 12th cruise with Celebrity and I think I'm as excited as my first cruise in 2004! 😄

  3. We managed to get an Aqua Class upgrade last week at a price less than the veranda cabin - I didn't believe it until we had the new confirmation. We needed three cabins and ended up with some of the less preferred ones, but it's worth it to dine in Blu again. I would have paid $150 for that! :)

  4. We were seated at a table for two. Unintentionally, we got there early before the doors opened, so we pretty much had our choice of table. The restaurant wasn't full the night we went and while I enjoyed the show - which was to schedule - I wonder why we'd go back if the show and the menu are the same?

  5. Has anyone used a tracker device like Tile or TrackR (Bluetooth) to quickly find your phone or their luggages on disembarkation or to know if they are in your stateroom a few minutes after arrival ?If so, was it useful ?

I've not used it on a cruise, but I have used TrackR to find my luggage at an airport when it was the very last bag off (I was worried), and it worked well - takes a few seconds to lock on but then reports location accurately. I never thought about using it for finding luggage at disembarkation or to check if its arrived, but will try that on our next cruise.

I'd take spare batteries with you - I'm not sure they have a long life.

  6. I've been on both sorts of tours, and I know what to expect on a ship's tour so it's okay. We have complained about a ship's tour once and got a refund - I can't remember what the problem was but it may have been a missed stop.

It is the ability to choose which type of tour suits you best at any given port that is important. Whether of not someone views a ship tour as lesser than a private tour is irrelevant for me - it's what suits me best at the time. Everyone has their preference but that doesn't make their view right for everyone else. It's right for them, and that's fine.

  7. Same thing happened to me in December. I rang the Australian office, they said I was paid up, check it again tomorrow. I did that, and it was all good. They were upgrading their system or something like that, and they thought that was the problem. Scary to get that email though when you were ready to leave on the cruise yesterday!

  8. Hello everyone

I know I can make speciality restaurant booking when we board our ship. I have been trying to make one online anyway for a group of 9 on my birthday. I've always pre-booked in the past but then it was for 2 or 3 people. The website says bookings can be made for 10 and under online. All good.

Except that it doesn't work - all restaurants are unavailable or I get to to payment but all of my four cards are rejected. With a bit of experimenting, it seems I can book for 8 online and no more. The Australian office can't help despite their valiant efforts - they can't book it either.

The question is: should I book for 8 and add one when we board, or should I just wait till we board and make the booking then. I am assuming of course that Murano can cope with a party of 9, and I may well be wrong.

    Any advice welcome. Thanks.

  9. Deck - 8

    Cabin # - 8343

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Bed near?(balcony or bath) - Balcony

    Quiet Cabin- Very quiet

Balcony View - Good - right at the aft, so you need to lean over the railing to get a view of the wake, and you can see up to the hump - great view out.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - oversized, a little, with an additional triangular piece due to being the last aft cabin.

Was wind a problem? No, very sheltered

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? No

Any specific problems with this cabin? No

Any other comments? Great cabin, I'd book it again.
