  1. Wow. I missed a lot when I was unable to get online last night. Sorry to post and run.

This was on the Radiance. I don't need any special treatment. I asked about the departure, didn't wait to be asked. I only asked because I had been offered it before and had someplace to be at a specific time on departure day and knew it was within reason to get there in time.

In my previous experiences (as a suite guest) the concierge has always introduced themselves to me and my group and has tried to come over and say hello and chat on subsequent days we visited the lounge. Perhaps I was giving off a vibe that I didn't want to talk?

This really wasn't a big deal at all, but I had read some previous posts and was wondering how it would be. I also went over to the Diamond Lounge.

I guess it's nice to have a choice and it will depend on the ship/lounge. Luckily it's not something that will make or break a trip. As long as I'm on a ship, I'm happy.

  2. My last cruise was first as Diamond Plus. I was excited to have the option of the Concierge Lounge or Diamond Club. My ship had both, next to each other, both with nice views. Each time I went into the Concierge Lounge, the concierge asked to see my card, even though I was alone and obviously used the card to get in. He made no effort to talk to me or find out who I was.

I was under the impression that they would help with debarkation. I have had this service before when staying in a suite, and also see it listed as a D+ Perk. On more than one occasion the concierge has personally walked us off the ship at the desired time. I asked the concierge nicely when I could leave the ship. He pointed to the sheet of paper that we got in our rooms and said it had all the information on it. Of course I had already read the piece of paper and understand how the walk-off on your own system works since I have been on many cruises before. I thought he would have offered to help me out. He was more interested in sitting with other guests and chatting.

I'm trying not to be sensitive or be swayed by other posts I have seen about treatment of various people in the different lounges, but this concierge was not helpful in any way. Am I too young, look like I don't belong in there, shouldn't be by myself, even though I can't help that my friends this time around aren't D+ and we're not in a suite?

Am I looking too much into this, or should the concierge have been more helpful and tried to get to know me like concierges from other ships?

  3. I'm glad to see that they will be changing shows and even happier that I was able to see Hairspray this year before it is gone. I thought it was terrific! I have never had an interest in Cats. I love Starlight Express, but agree that it would probably be a disaster at sea.

It's tough to think of a good show that is appropriate for most ages. When I was younger I saw Phantom, Les Miz, Annie, Starlight Express, and Grease. The easiest set for a Broadway show is A Chorus Line, but there are definitely adult themes in that as well.

  4. Thank you everyone for the useful information! I was half alseep last night while reading this and decided to call. The nice young man helped me make reservations for my Nov. 18 voyage. I had no trouble with time or venue. It was tough picking a time without knowing when the shows will be, but I'll work around that. I'm getting more and more excited as the days go by. I'm a fan of traditional dining, however, the new menues will be a nice change.

  5. I don't care either way, but you're silly if you think they're not using all the info for tracking and marketing purposes. They know your habits, and are able to use that to sell you more. Sure, it may make things more convenient for you, but trust me, with that spend, it's benefiting them dollar-wise as well. It's amazing what technology will let you do, and where it will go in the future.

  6. One of the best things I've ever done. I'm not a big make up wearer, but I did a think line of eyeliner below and above the eye. People are shocked when I tell them that I had it done and would never know the difference. Although I wouldn't have thought twice about leaving the house without makeup before, it's an even better feeling now. It's great for the pool and beach....and no smudging. The pain really was not that terrible. I don't have any other tattoos, so I have nothing to compare it to.

  7. I shared a room with my parents all the time when I was younger and always wondered if my parents just restrained. As a teenager I couldn't imagine going on such romantic vacations and then being stuck in a room with your kids. Maybe I'll feel different when I become a parent. However, I tend to agree that you should take some time when the kids are off doing some type of activity. I would have never wanted to catch my parents in that situation.
