  1. Couldn't remember if they provided a beach bag in the cabin. So I called O and the agent, after much research, told me she was sorry but the didn't. But I had a memory of having gotten such a bag on my one previous cruise [i think I remember one provided on all cruises - but not sure]. Didn't want to pack one if one was waiting for me. So when rummaging through a place where such things are kept, low and behold, there in said waiting place was an Oceania tote bag, and a nice sized zippered one too.

So, do I heed what this phone representative said and pack the found bag or trust my memory and common sense and wait to get the one that we all know is in the cabin waiting for me?

  2. I'll be on the cruise with you. I too like early dinning so got two 6:30's snagged a 2 top but with the other had to settle for a table for 4. Some say better off with a table for 6 in case you get the table mates form hell at least the other couple will help carry the ball. Of course it's just one meal and you and your mate can have something to laugh about for the rest of the night.

  3. I have read that the terminal that O uses in Miami is not the same as the majority of the lines and can be pretty chaotic when disembarking. The ship will be arriving on 1/16, a Thursday, scheduled for 7:00. AA has a flight departing at 10:15 A.M. that I would be willing to self-disembark for if it seems like a fairly safe bet to those who have used this terminal before.

I try to avoid tension with close calls, but the thought of hanging around until after 4 is pretty nasty. So I'm seeking input [why else would I post?] as to hazardous it is and what options are prudent.

  4. A friend of ours developed a terrible rash all over her during her 1st and only cruise a number of months ago. After returning home it started to recur now and again sending her from doctor to doctor. Finally one discovered that she was allergic to fragrance. You can, at any time in your life, develop an allergy to just about anything. Never found out what on the ship started it all, but she's following doctor's orders now and all is well.

Of course if your symptoms only happen on repeated cruises and not ashore you seem to have a different problem. As for the water, it is distilled so should be pretty pure.

On my next cruise I'd bring my own toiletries and see how that works - as it turns out, my wife is allergic to fragrance and doesn't use any of those great freebies [i make up for her] and she's fine.

  5. I made a post about this after my Island cruise to the Panama Canal a year or two ago. We were in the next to the last cabin [forget the number], a mini., on the Caribe deck. Very calm waters throughout. We had terrible vibration at night when the ship picked up speed. Now I am a Navy vet and no pussy, but it really rattled I don't see why I haven't read of anybody else complaining over the years!?
