  1. Some people were literally in the air, on a plane, when this happened. What about them? So the companies who have ordered their employees to return & cut short vacations, work visits, are stuck wherever they are and can't get back. Airlines are stopping people from boarding the plane.

  2. Gauche, tacky, juvenile, attention seeking .... :p What is it to you? Move on, don't look. The fact that this bothers you so much says much more about YOU than it does about door decorators.

Do I mock those who spend a good part of their cruise playing trivia for a ship on a stick - no, not my thing but whatever floats your boat. Or those that have to be front and center out ballroom dancing in the atrium - go for it or those sucking up to the officers every chance they get. It is everyone's vacation and we all have those things that make it special to us.

    Live and let live!

    Well said. Thank you.

  3. I won't try and convince you any further about Uber but I would NEVER ride with Eastide for Hire. They are the WORST drivers in Seattle. Mostly because 90% of the drivers are newly arrived from Africa and have never driven in a city before. Just have the Warwick call you a cab. Eastside for Hire is just a cab company.

I'm afraid I have to agree with my husband, DrKoob. Eastside for Hire has some of the worst taxi drivers. Frankly, I don't think there are any good taxi drivers in Seattle, but they seem to have some of the worst. Sometimes I'm not sure how the taxi and limo drivers in Seattle ever got a driver's license! Especially if they are driving a Prius (my apologies to all Prius drivers on this thread).

  4. If you decide to do the August 2016 cruise, here is the roll call for it which my husband started:

We have quite a few people already and we are talking about doing a pre-cruise dinner in Amsterdam. Some of us have already booked tickets through Celebrity for the Military Tattoo with the thought we might get together for a private tour and cancel the Celebrity tour. We just wanted to make sure we get in.

As to weather, we are from Seattle so rain won't bother us.

  5. We were on the Infinity just before you. We sailed from Ft Lauderdale to San Diego. I saw nothing of what you mentioned. Everything was sparkling clean. I find it hard to believe it got so dirty between the time we got off and you got on. There were some people on our cruise who were coughing but I didn't hear of anyone getting very sick. However, that being said, any time you have that many people in an essentially enclosed space for that long, people are going to get sick. People are sick before they even get on the ship, people pick up illness from the plane flight and/or airport, people pick up illnesses while they are off the ship and bring them back on. You cannot in any way blame this on the ship. That's like saying your home is dirty because you caught a cold.

  6. We wore our bathing suits every time we used the Persian Gardens. We would use the sauna, get too hot and then get in the shower & repeat the process. They frown on people wearing their robes with nothing on underneath. One time we had a guy wearing a robe while we were in there but everything was hanging out. We went out & asked about that and they came in and told him he could not do that.

  7. If the weather is truly bad or questionable, they will not tender. We have missed tender ports due to bad weather. Just look at it as another sea day. Did you have to pay upfront for your private excursion? Find out what their policy is regarding the ship not being able to come into port before you make a decision.

  8. LOL! Hi! We moved back to California about 3 1/2 years ago! The bottom dropped out of the real estate market in our little corner of Idaho and there was nothing left for me to sell. We came back to Central California where our families are, good and bad parts to that!

I am working now for a 'large national telecommunications company' doing government and community relations--but my territory is mostly on the Eastern side of the Sierras, so we spend a lot of time on the road in beautiful country. It's worked out really well. I have 5 grandkids here that we seldom got to see so that's been a real treat. Eric's kids and 16 grandkids are in Utah, Idaho and Texas so we have lots of travel opportunities.

There are places in Florida that we like but I can't imagine moving there from Hawaii!;)

We still think of you and Jim and the fun we had. We are setting off on our third TA next month--we've gotten to love them! What's next for you guys?

    Cathy

We've had 2 grandkids who now live 120 miles away, I had a total hip replacement on 2/19/14 and our next trip isn't until 11/4/14 for a Panama Canal cruise on Infinity. It marks our 10 year anniversary with Celebrity, same date, same ship & almost identical itinerary. We usually cruise 2x a year but because of my hip replacement, we are only going once this year :( Have been on lots of cruises since we last saw you though.

  9. I've been to Florida and I've been to Hawaii. No way in h*** would I move to Florida just so I could cruise more inexpensively!!! This is a joke, right?

I'm with you Cathy - you and I live in beautiful parts of the country and can't imagine living in Florida.

Sorry to my friends in Florida but they already know this. Even when I complain about the weather.

  10. My guess is the boards are having some serious problems lately. I keep having to subscribe, unsubscribe and subscribe again to the cruise board I am currently a poster on as I'm not getting notifications. Everyone on our board has noticed this.

So I wouldn't be surprised that this is just another Cruise Critic issue. I'm thinking someone should start a thread on Cruise Critic issues again.

  11. We just got off a 3 night cruise on the Zaandam. Any Time Dining was horrendous. People were waiting over an hour (us included). People became very frustrated. We did not talk to one person who had a positive experience.

One night they told us the wait would be up to 30 minutes & we were seated in less than 10. But the line was out the door the entire time we ate. We went a little earlier the next night & had to wait for over an hour. We were convinced we only got a table because my husband & someone unknown to us at the time got very irate. They quickly seated the four of us in our group & the other couple who were also upset together. There were ALWAYS empty tables upstairs in the fixed dining & downstairs in the open seating area. We never figured out why they made everyone wait. It was a chaotic mess.

The wait staff seemed to have no fixed agenda. The bus boys just wandered around looking at dirty tables & not clearing until they were told to (or so it seemed).

We did have a good time with all of the people we met at our tables so that was a positive for the open seating. But it did not quite make up for the frustration.
