  1. You only need a birth certificate to cruise on a closed loop cruise. A birth certificate does not have a social security number on it. (Neither does a drivers license or a lot of other forms of ID.)

A criminal record is tied to your social security number, NOT your name. (How many John Smith's are there?)

How would anyone ever know if someone had a criminal record? You never gave Carnival any information that would even enable them to do a background check, even if they wanted to.

This coming from a person who entered, confirmed and canceled warrants for over 18 years a SS# has zero thing to do with a criminal history/wants/warrants. It is all about name and dob and a OID if a person has a history. A SS# maybe listed but it can not be used to identify a person who is wanted or to run a accurate history.

Yes you did give them all information to get any history on you. Not sure who told you about the wrong information.

  2. So, I know from both personal experience and posts on this board that you can purchase discounted gift cards (AARP for example) and then load them to your account once onboard. You can then visit the casino and upload money from your account to a slot machine...play once or twice...and then cash out.

My question is...what has been your experience on the amount (or times) you can reasonably do this before someone gets wise? Again, from personal experience I've probably done this twice a day when the casino was open for a couple hundred dollars each time. Just wondering others experiences...

    Lee- sailing

Carnival Liberty - Sailing On February 1, 2018, why do you think you can defraud a company? Those gift cards are to be used on the ship and not line your pocketbooks. I really hope you get caught and get booted off the ship. It is this kind of behavior ruins it for honest people which you are not.

  3. Just off the Vista last month. Here is some facts:

    1. FTTF for disabled guests are a joke DONT DO IT! I have been screwed over by CCL 3 times now. JH promised me that we no longer get dumped in the Atrium if you have FTTF. You do. I was told I could NOT access my cabin until 1:30.

    2. If you do not have FTTF you have general boarding with everyone else. As long as you have assistance you are better off not wasting your time.

    3. Departing another joke 3 separate staff to wheel one person off. FTTF general guests were off the ship by 8:00, I got off at 9:30 WITH FTTF.

So unless you like throwing money away don't bother. They said there were going to refund me in 3 weeks well its been 4 weeks.

My complaint about Matt being discriminative and rude about disabled guests in general has gone unanswered still. No surprise there.

CCL has lost all credibility when it comes to disability in my books, good luck.

  4. This was my 3rd cruise with Carnival and it will be most likely my last. My first cruise was b2b on the Victory solo, I bought a FTTF because I did not want to deal with the massive lines being disabled and in a wheel chair. I rented a mobility scooter to use on board that would be in my cabin once I boarded or shortly after.

I was told by customer service I would be escorted to my cabin to get my scooter or I could stay in my cabin if I wished upon boarding. That was not the case, I was dumped in the Atrium to wait 2 hours like everyone else that could not access the cabins. I could not eat, I could not use the rest rooms, I was literally stranded.

This cruise my friend and I both went and we both needed the scooters, I was afraid that they were going to dump us again and not care I contacted JH and he told me in a private message that this would not happen and to rest easy and enjoy the cruise and he would personally take care of my worries. Mind you we had to book this cruise 550 days to get side by side balcony cabins so it was a very long wait. Paying for FTTF for solo cruisers was a waste of money.

I contacted Matt the CD and after 2 days of trying to contact him, finally got to tell him the issue and I did not understand since it was him that was supposed to make sure it did not happen again. He said JH had been late sending him requests, I told Matt I did not want a fruit basket or candy just what I wanted and paid for X2 (my friend and I both had one for each cabin).

The day of debarkation, I went to Matts Q n A show since there was a new procedure and it sounded like we were going to be dumped and left stranded again. He assured me that was not the case. Well it may have well been 5 separate people escorted me from my cabin to the sidewalk outside of the port.

Fttf cruisers were able to leave the ship with the other priority members by 8am. I did not get out until 9:15. I was so upset, that night I called and got a refund but it was too late the damage was done.

During the morning show I asked Matt with the new ship were they going to add more than 5 percent accessible rooms since it is near impossible to cruise without reserving 550+ days out. His response was I think we are above 5 percent, I corrected him and told him 22 cabins on a ship that holds 4k is no where near 5 percent. His reply back to me was well you at least get a larger shower and you should be happy since nobody else gets one. “LARGER SHOWER” WTH?

The rest of the staff were ok, nobody went above and beyond, I did not feel the need to add additional tips. Unlike the Victory I felt like a queen and tipped accordingly.

The food was really good, nothing to complain about.

The ship was not accessible friendly by any means, minimal at best. Perfect example I went to the spa to watch a pain management (aka/accupuncture sales pitch) the instructor watched as I struggled with the door as it slammed on my knee. No accessible access at all on some doors.

My cabin 7401, was a accessible cabin, with no door assist, the balcony had a mobility ramp for a chair but the bed was way to close to the sliding door to actually use if wished. The shower was a larger than standard shower with a folding bath chair, hand spray for the shower which was placed way too high for a person that could not stand to get to it.

The dining areas, what a fiasco, they really need a separate area for scooters and wcs. We were smack dab in the middle of the dining area with only one spot to safely park a scooter. My friend ended up parking hers and hiking to the table each night. While on the Victory it was never a issue we always had the table closest to the door and plenty of parking.

Lido, was fine staff always helped. JJ’s I seen 0 low tables so it made it not accessible at all.

The clubs, had no issues besides no chairs unless you were there uber early, I had no issues since I had my scooter.

Ports, nothing really new the procedure went smoothly and staff was helpful.

With the Vista being a new ship ADA supervisor dropped the ball big time. It could have been a amazing ship for everyone, but this was not the case. I don’t blame staff (minus Matt), I blame the ship designers.

One more comment about Matt, he needs to go get some sensitivity training and some ADA classes, had he been a employee in the states he would have been subject to termination to say such a thing in a open forum.

I did enjoy my cruise, but will not be sailing on the Vista again.

  5. Going on the carnival liberty in Feb. DW and LD want to go to the afternoon tea on the sea day. Just wondering if there is a dress code for that. I can't find anything on the carnival website. Thanks.

Sent from my Pixel 2 using Forums mobile app

Pool wear would not be appropriate. Personally I would wear anything I would wear as a casual dinner. I would not wear shorts and Ts but that is me, I consider a Tea more of a formal event. I am sure many do however.

  6. Mobility scooters maybe needed. If mobility is a issue its well worth the extra cash so they are not stressing or hurting. Contact a good PVP and let them know you need a cabin that will accommodate 2 scooters. Do it as soon as you can some times it takes 550+ days to reserve one cabin. They will enjoy the cruise more.

FYI-mobility excursions are horrible to find. They are very few that offer WC or scooter excursions.

  7. Can you provide some examples, please? Using the cards within the limits defined by the corporation is not fraud, so I (as an auditor) would be interested to see what you believe is fraudulent activity.

Gift cards are meant to be used as credit towards Carnival merchandise not buying them to turn them in for cash for a 10 percent profit. It is fraud plain and simple.

    Fraud-

    frauds (plural noun)

    1. wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain

Buying gift cards for 10 percent off face value to resell them to Carnival for face value for cash is fraud..... (casino loophole)

  8. I wonder if Carnival is doing something with the gift cards.

People are using the cards fraudulently, I would expect them to say enough is enough, you have people here on this site that has no hesitation to post how to commit fraud so yea I would hope so.

Same as how to scam using Cheers, smuggling and many other scams. So sad people can not see what is wrong with cheating a company.

  9. You check in a year in advance? I wouldn't think the cruiselines would allow that. I would forgot what credit card I attached and stuff like that. I check in about a month ahead.

I did mine 500 days out, what is the point of not doing it as soon as possible.

  10. Sooo my mother is joining The Boy and I for our Thanksgiving/birthday cruise. Since she can't fly (health reasons) we have to make the very long drive from Chicago to Miami.

Have any of you ever taken a similar drive? Any tips and all of that you can give me?

Will not be driving straight through at all. Plan to stop and stay the night in Atlanta then continue the next day.

    Thanks!

How many drivers? I drive down from St Paul every time I go to Florida, it takes me 4 days driving 7-8 hours a day, I don't stress out if its bad weather I stop, if I am tired I stop. Day and a half will be pushing it during that week, Remember everyone is out shopping, I would take a extra day. Avoid Atlanta during the day hours, be prepared once you hit Florida every lunatic in the country will be driving. I would much rather drive on glare ice then that week in Florida Toll ways. Just so happens that is when I will be leaving as well. Good luck, have a nice trip.

PS add at least a day for bad winter weather, watch future road conditions.

  11. Chris -- I'm on the same cruise as you AND my husband has a need for a fridge for medical reasons (medication which must be kept refrigerated). On the advice of others that it was as simple as calling Guest Services and asking for one, I did so. That started a conversation with a snippy little GS associate who crossed my nerves the wrong direction. Long story short, No, you cannot get a fridge simply by asking for one. I was told (by more than just this associate -- I took it a couple levels above her smart-mouthed little head) that we could either hand his meds over to GS on the ship to hold (which meant he would need to go down to the GS desk each morning to retrieve his medication) or we could pay $70 for a medical cooler to keep in our room. However, when explaining the medical cooler, they were VERY clear that it was not sized/suitable to hold beverages. Which leads me to believe that many people who don't have a fridge in their staterooms are opting for this "medical cooler" and then providing feedback on it's size? Additionally, the $70 price tag seems high.

Given that this is our first cruise on Carnival (DCL and RC previously), I never even thought to ask if our stateroom has a fridge. We've just always had one. Although, the descriptions of our stateroom category online indicate that ours should have a mini-fridge but apparently no rooms on 8 have them despite the fact that our stateroom fits within that category.

$70 deposit is now needed because the "entitled" people "NEED" a medi cooler to keep beer cold. Stuff like that makes me want to puke, the people who need one for medication now has to pay the deposit. BTW, if anyone tells you, to leave any medication with GS, proceed to security and report them, since that should never happen, they would be responsible for medications. All meds that needs to be stored should go to the infirmary, there it will be bagged, sealed, tagged and secured in a medical fridge. NEVER leave any meds else where.

  12. Call Southwest and tell them that your cruise was cancelled. The person I spoke to said they can submit for an exception to the airfare credit and she felt they would probably do a refund because the cruise was cancelled. She did say they were backed up because of the hurricanes but it should take 7-10 days for them to process the paperwork. She did unfortunately say that I wouldn't receive an e-mail with an answer. I'll either get a refund or maintain my credit. Fingers crossed.

    So lie to them?

  13. I have seen many weddings on embarkation day. In fact, non-cruisers are allowed on the ship to attend the wedding and reception, and the wedding party and guests get early boarding. There are even announcement that it is time for the wedding party non-cruising attendees to debark shortly before it is time to sail. I have seen nothing or heard nothing that this has changed. Something sounds a tad bit fishy.

Things have changed. The updated rules can be found on the website, not all wedding parties get priority boarding any more. Just those who are getting wed on Embarkation day:

PRIORITY CHECK-IN. Priority boarding is provided for couples getting married the day of embarkation, once the ship is cleared by U.S. Customs. Please be prompt and pay special attention to your boarding information to ensure you are at the pier on time for priority boarding. You and your guests, both sailing and non-sailing, must arrive together to board with priority boarding. Couples who have selected a wedding package later in the cruise will follow general boarding procedures.

  14. Can I ask what brand/model of soft side cooler you used? How many pens were you able to carry? We will also have a 90 supply with us and need to cover a couple of 24 hour gaps without refrigerator.

    thanks,

    Marc

It was just a cheap one I found in the school section. I think I paid 5 bucks for it. Yes 90 day supply X 2 different kinds will fit fine I had both short acting and long acting with me. Both were sealed shut in gallon size freezer bags just to provide moister free barrier. 2 ice frozen gel bags in freezer bags same as above. I find putting a nice wash cloth on top to keep moister and to keep it cooler a nice touch.

If I had to guess I had 20 boxes with me. and had plenty room. 20 boxes (6 pens each)

  15. I am looking forward to the Liberty on 10/5. I've heard so much about the lobster roll at the Seafood Shack that I've decided I want to meet that sandwich as soon as possible.

Is the Shack open during boarding? Will I need my S&S card before I can eat there?

Is there nearby seating or does anyone have a tip on a good spot to chow down with a view?

This is a best girlfriends trip so no kiddies are around. Does anyone take food to the Serenity area?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, I am super excited. Thanks!! [emoji3]

That's my plan as well Lobster roll. :)

Shack should be open, it is listed as open for Vista. No, boarding pass is fine.

    Not positive about other ships.

Seating should depend on time you get there. There is always seating some where, you may have to look a bit.

Serenity Area, should be no problem.

    Have fun!
