We are using David - recommended on Trip Adviser. His email is david.transfertaxi@gmail.com. I do not know if he can take 5 and luggage, but you can ask him. He is very prompt in replying.

We have booked a private pickup with English speaking driver for $25 to a Recoletta hotel. We are also using him to go to EZE for $55. Seems like they all want to be paid in US dollars.

The dollar is not accepted for transactions in Brazil. (But the exchange rate is very good right now.) You can use a credit card or change cash dollars at a "casa do cambio". Some hotels may do the exchange, acting as a casa do cambio as a courtesy, but usually not at a good rate.
My experience is that the dollar is wanted very much in Brazil. I have booked a taxi to my hotel and back to the airport and it has been requested that payment be made in US dollars. The same with a tour that I have booked - US dollars.
I will exchange a little money for incidentals.

Good information Thank you

Do you have it in writing? Wouldn't be the first time a phone rep said something that was completely untrue, whether it was intentional or not.
I also called the insurance company and their answer was the same - it is covered.

Totally agree with Cathy...a much better way to book flights.
Are you saying it no longer covers Choice Air flights? That's the main reason I use Celebrity's insurance over others. This is not good.:(
I booked our air about 3 weeks ago and called Choice Air to ask them if the airfare would be covered with the cruise insurance and they told me that it would be.

One advantage of booking with Choice Air is that the airfare is covered under their cruise insurance if you must cancel. Other insurance companies cost more if you add the airfare to the cruise insurance. For us the airfare was the same as booking with the airline, but we saved money by not having to buy additional insurance.

We just returned from our cruise on the Norwegian Sun. Two of us had been to Cartagena previously and two had not. Both couples enjoyed the tour very much. We got to interact with he children in the Center and also saw the community gardens. We also had a walking tour of the Old City. Dan & Berit were wonderful hosts. I cannot recommend them and their foundation enough. After we returned home they sent us a note with a link to the photos they took during our tour. You will not be disappointed with Friends for Columbia tour.

I went to the Reception desk and told them we had a private tour booked at 8:30 am, and was told to go at 8 am. The process was very quick and they put a dot on our Sea Pass so that the people checking us off the ship would know that we had gone through the inspection. No problem at all.

I found this site to be informative: http://www.airlinequality.com/index.htm

Pete - My friends are staying in 6218. We are in 6223. How did you find the accommodations? I've read that some of the rooms are getting shabby. How were the beds and pillows? Storage? Thanks Pat

Thanks for the responses. From the deck plan I thought it was aft of the theatre, but somewhere it states that it is forward, so your explanation has helped. I guess it should be nice and quiet there. Pat

Has any one stayed in an Ocean view cabin on the Oslo Deck on the Sun? It looks like it is in between the two levels of the theatre. Is there a lot of noise in these cabins? Is there a problem getting around the ship?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

We will be St Tomas on Dec. 26 on the Veendam. Looking forward to taking Gus's tour. Does anyone know if he accepts credit cards, or is it strictly cash? There will be 4 of us and I really don't want to take that much cash ashore. Thanks Pat
Celebrity shuttle in Manta Ecuador
in Celebrity Cruises

Does anyone who has been to South America with Celebrity know if they have a shuttle to town from the port in Manta Ecuador. I read on the SA board that Princess and Holland America have a shuttle, but nothing about Celebrity.
Thanks
