  1. Does anyone have a list of where you can use your $20 ala carte on Icon?

The terms say "For restaurants with a la carte pricing". I think Playmakers.

But does this cover Sugar Beach, Desserted, Trellis Bar and basecamp and so on. There are so many places now that have upcharges.

I also wish they would simplify this and took $20 daily off your bill as the terms also say once per day and have read that needs to be in one transaction.

So if there were 3 of use, I would hope we could each use our $20 at different times. My son likes to get his Sundae from Playmakers nightly.

To answer your question regarding being reimbursed, the answer is "no".  In order to use your UDP you would have to make the reservations once onboard (or have the Concierge make them for you, if you are in a suite).  Have others prepaid and been successful in being reimbursed ?  Probably....but I certainly wouldn't count on it.  That's not the way the program is intended to work.  I have never failed to get reservations on boarding day so it's not really difficult to do.

I did this trick on my last cruise on Oasis out of Bayonne for the 3 night dining package. But it was only for Izumi and several days into the trip. I think it is only so many days in advance and not sure if it will cover day 1. They did not refund me, but they did apply it towards my on board credit which I knew in advance and was ok with it.

I think Royal if finally catching on that people with UDP or dining packages want to be able to book ahead of time and I heard that option is coming. The current system leads to total disappointment and frustration with the long lines and lack of options on embarkation day. I was the first person at Izumi on the last cruise and it took so long to book 3 nights, you can hear the people behind me seething.

  3. I am sailing on August 4th Oasis 9 night cruise out of Cape Liberty and I am trying to figure out the MDR menu rotation and formal nights.

I see some references for 9 night cruise menu rotations but not sure how this translates to other ships.

Question 1: Is there a way to know what our rotation will be?

I also have another question. My last cruise on Symphony, we had the Unlimited Dining and when I showed up early on day 1 and tried to book dining for the rest of the cruise, most nights were booked and Izumi Hibachi wasn't available at all for the entire cruise. The manager said I should have booked it online before I boarded but when I try to do that it wants to charge me.

Question 2: Can you book UDP before the sailing and how?

  4. I have a family of 4 and we usually book the Unlimited Dining package.

But I am planning a family cruise with 10 total people and I am thinking about getting the 3 night dining package for us. It is a 9 night cruise and I think UDP would be just too much.

In past experience has anyone been able to book a table for 10 in Chops, Giovannis and 150CP?

  5.

Things are a complete shambles right now.

Early this morning only showing 1 South Beach Cabana and I put it in my cart.

Then later it showed Sold Out.

I went back to my cart and it was still there. I attempted to process the payment but it said it didn't go through. So I did it again and again.

So now I have 2 reservations for South Beach Cabana in my orders and 3 charges to my CC.

This is going to be fun.

I've reported the problem to the D+ desk and the agent wrote a report to their IT dept as many others have brought this problem up.   We're not allowed to mention any TAs, but one that I had some luck starts with Cruise.

The problem may be resolved soon and hoping since I'm a Royal shareholder.😆

Having so much trouble finding a site that has pricing for Oasis for Cape Liberty.

  7. I may be reading more into this than it is.

I am looking at booking Oaisis of the Seas out of Cape Liberty next year, but I keep getting "Oops, something went wrong."  I spoke with an agent on the phone yesterday and she said she saw it interal but agreed that when she went to the web she was getting the same results. Chalked it up to some web update but it is still happening this morning. Miami departures seem fine. Is there some movement of this ship that is going to change and move OAS out of Cape Liberty? What could be th e problem? Even external websites like BJs or Costco are showing limited dates differing from RCI website and dates that show are showing no availability.

  8. I was holding both CocoCay beach club for 4 people and a South Beach Cabana that I got on Black Friday sale. My cruise is coming up in two weeks so it was time to cancel one. I chose to keep the cabana and cancel the beach club. Prior to canceling the Beach Club was sold out and after my 4 went back into inventory and I could see 4 spots left at $249/pp.

I just checke some 9 hours later and all 4 spots are gone.

I feel I should get a kick back from RCI for returning the inventory at $89 and netting them more income 😉

    Just WOW.

So, it is to make you feel good about yourself?

What happens when you can't find a particular crew member to hand them the envelop containing the tip cash?

The gratuity system (whether you agree with it or not) is to reward not only the face of the hospitality crew (room stewards, waiters, etc), but also those behind-the-scenes workers that passengers never come in contact with.  The cruise industry's gratuity system may be imperfect, but it allows a large and deserving group of unseen crew members to efficiently share in the gratuities.

Keep the auto tips/gratuity in place and leave additional $ for those crew members that really made your cruise extra enjoyable.  Remember crew names, and acknowledge them in the post cruise survey.

    Do the right thing.

    Who are these behind-the-scenes workers?

A lot, it's just apps. They are open 12 hours.

Full story. Went in around 3pm on boarding day. Had a lousy burger in Chops  earlier. Only wanted onion rings. Server said order more, you can only order here once per day.

This was confirmed again on day 2 by manager. He said they stopped allowing multiple tickets at end of May.

Put it on survey, asked to be contacted for clarification. Waiting on hell to freeze over now

That stinks. I can see wanting to go multiple times in one day.
