The poor guy probably was packed for bermuda and did not have any pants, NCL should have made an accommodation. Certainly no guest would care.

He may have packed for Bermuda. On the Bermuda itinerary you need long pants for Le Bistro as well.

I still don't understand how people are shocked by this. When you go to a restaurant with a gift card or a coupon for a free meal, do you not tip your waitstaff?

One of the offers I chose to receive on my upcoming NCL page is missing on the Offers section of my NCL vacation page. Why would that be. Apparently I still have it according to my cruise consultant but why would it be missing from my page? Perhaps I am worrying about nothing.

Good news: the passenger was found alive, thankfully!

 

We received the announcement that there was a passenger overboard a little past 6 in the morning, that it occurred overnight and we had returned to the location for search and rescue. Around 8 the captain notified us that he was suspending the search and rescue and heading back to Venice, but the Croatian coast guard would take over. Around 11-12 we received the good news that the passenger was found alive and flown to Croatia to receive treatment. It is now almost 2 but we are finally arriving in Venice.

Wonderful news! How terrifying it would be to be lost in the ocean!

I recently purchased a bathing suit cover-up that was called a Boyfriend Shirt. I was very disappointed when I received it. It was $49.95 and not worth it in my opinion. But, it gave me the idea to go to Goodwill and buy an XL men's shirt instead! I found one made by Gap that is pretty and is a fabric blend so it will dry a little faster! A smaller or larger lady than me could buy a size appropriate for them. Check those thrift stores.

My husband and I love to walk, so we're interested in walking the rail trail, and combining that with beaching and snorkeling. Should we plan on transporting ourselves to another part of the island to access an especially nice beach , or section of the trail? Any ideas would be appreciated.

So... how was the noise? I am thinking of bidding on an upgrade and it seems like a cabin above the Bliss is what we might get IF our bid is accepted. Thanks.

I live in an area with 6,000 East Indians. Until I moved here, I had no idea that Indian food was so tasty. I find it fortunate that Indians are a very sharing culture and my Indian neighbors often bring food to my home.

Excellent! I love Indian food and enjoy it on the buffet.

For those who don't like Indian food, I have never seen anyone being forced to eat it.

My mother and I will be on a 5 day cruise and one of the stops is Jamaica. We will not be getting off the ship thanks to your posts! We will look at the beauty of the island (and the not the ugliness of much of the population) from the deck!

Yes! I love Indian food and lots of it is vegan!

If you use contact lenses or eye glasses, make sure you bring an extra pair. A couple years ago, I lost my a contact lens while i was swimming in south beach. I didn't even bring my glasses. I had to run to the store before it closed, call my opthamologist and have her fax the copy of my prescription to get a new pair. ... waste of money and time...:confused:

This is a very good tip. Last year I brought glasses that did not have the right prescription in one eye and it was very annoying! Thankfully I mostly wear contacts. Hmm... I still have to get new glasses!

As the OP and someone new to this board, I come here looking for advice and council before my first NCL cruise and have gotten some excellent help in the past. However, I must say the tone of some of the responses is offputting.

 

Some points I'd like to make from the above and other threads:

 

• "If you don't like the way NCL does things don't sail NCL" is not a welcoming, friendly nor helpful response. However, I have seen it here and on other posts where some people disagree with the OP. Would you address this person (or me) with such a tone face to face? Then why be so negative here when someone is simply asking a question?
  

 

• "Dear board moderator , can you please put ALL thread titles about the DSC in bold red on page one ... PLEASE" - Is also not helpful. If NCL DSC comes up over and over and over on this forum then clearly alot of people have an issue with the policy and want to discuss it. I thank someone for saying just that in a reply. Hushing up people who want to discuss the DSC by moving them to another page is not warm, welcoming or helpful to the forums. If a DSC question annoys you, please skip the thread. I was just asking for opinions.
  

 

• I thank the person who said "The DSC is not obvious on the website ". Nope, there was no mention of it when I did my booking and I learned about it when I got my welcome kit later. Yes, I could have searched the web site to see if they tack on service charges on top of the cruise fee before booking... but who would think to do that? Would you call a restaurant and ask if you have to tip upon entry? No.
  

Some people here use a tone in their response as if they are owners or crew of NCL and I have just snatched $168 from their pocket. I am not sure how that is helpful to people feeling welcome to ask any questions of the forum.

I thank all of you who had positive responses and/or saw my point and had my back. But there is never a need for nasty nor negative comments. I hope many agree with me on that. I will continue to ask questions and just ignore those who are grumpy. Thanks!
