On our Cuba land trip, dress was extremely casual. (Light weight cotton). Comfortable walking shoes are a must! Many streets are cobblestone. This trip is not about "clothes". It is about the culture of an amazing country. It was one of our favorite trips.

On the numerous recommendations on this thread, I ordered swim wear online at http://www.swimsuitsforall.com.
Order came today & I love them. The swim dresses were exactly what I had been looking for. Ordered 3 thinking at least I would like one. I'm keeping all three.
Thanks cruise critic !!!

Why the rude response?
I thought the same thing. Lol
Rarely do I post on the fashion thread because there seems to be people that feel the need to post this type of comment. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Back to your post. I remember "ball gowns" on cruises and those times are gone. Dressing up on formal night for me includes black slacks, silk or evening top and bling jewelry. DH wears his tux
Alaska cruises are less formal. DH has worn dress shirt and tie.

DH and I enjoy formal nights. We opt for MDR. On casual nights, DH normally wears a dress shirt & slack. I love the opportunities to "dress up" and DH looks so nice in a tux!
There are so many dining options and venues. Dress-up....dress-down .....
It's your vacation. Dress the way you want to.

nukesubsailor hit the nail on the head. We have been to Alaska 6 times and two of those involved land tours. The last time we did MA7. We did some great excursions on this trip and would do it again. We prefer May because the mosquitos(state bird of Alaska) are not fully grown.

I was in E708 (deck 8, two below Caribe) a couple of weeks ago and had no issue at all with vibration if that helps. I didn't notice any problem on the back deck either.
Thank you for your feedback. We read that a bearing was replaced which greatly reduced the vibration.

Thanks for the quick reply;if you hear any news please let me know
We have c728 booked on the Island for the Panama Canal April 8, 2016. Would appreciate recent feedback. Of course, hope it is positive.

Have gone in may 4 times & sept once. Prefer may (fewer mosquitos than Sept).

We booked our 6th trio to Alaska in may 2015. We love Princess but think any Alaska cruise is a winner.
Princess land excursion "Off the Beaten Pass" was our favorite. This offers the Keniai Pensulia .
Our favorite excursions include :
Kenai Fjords wildlife & glacier cruise
Deadliest catch tour
Skagway train

We love to dress for formal night. DH puts on the tux, etc. Alaska is the exception. We go to formal dining but leaves the tux @ home.

DH & I both did the sea weed both wrap. Loved it. Relaxing & something different We like to try new things so we can check them off our bucket list .

This season was really a joke.
Project Runway may have other seasons, but this is the last one I will watch!!!!!!!
-
Since she claims to not have a lot of money, I've decided that she's definitely sleeping with someone.
Just got home from the high school football game....was compelled to check this thread....glad I did.
Now....my....?....who would want to sleep with Gretchen?????
OT - I'm on the same page as SeaBunny. I want April to be in the finals. I like her "baby doll" look. I can see her creating a fashion line.
-
OMG......I just don't know what the judges see in Gretchen's clothes (HD TV doesn't make them better). Thought I would LMAO when they said the print looked like the model had a "fried egg" on her boob.
Good job Mondo! He's fabric choices and sewing skills are amazing.

My thought when they announced the bottom 3 and top 3 was I didn't think Michael C's was that good to end up in the top 3, because surely the bottom 3 is Valery, Ivy, and Gretchen. And then Gretchen ended up in the top 3 and I went *****!! Who is she sleeping with to keep ending up in the top with her shapeless, dowdy clothes?
Loved, loved, loved Mondo's outfit and thought it definitely deserved to win (although wouldn't have been upset with Andy winning).
I agree with you!!!!
I thought for a minute Gretchen was going to win and decided "if she wins, I would stop watching the show". My question is "would Heldi wear Gretchen's mess.....I mean dress"?
-
Congrats to your niece. I have seen a couple of the cake challenges, who is your niece?
I agree about the set up in the interviews but like you Gretchen and Ivy really irritate me. I love how almost every week when they show them talking in the waiting room while the final 6 are on the runway and Gretchen is giving her opinion of who is on top/bottom. I don't think she has gotten it correct yet! For me, this season of designers is kind of boring. No one is standing out to me yet.
Thanks.....you can see her on her web page @ www.fancycakesbylauren.com
The only designer I really like is Mondo. Hope he makes it through to the finals. Would love to know more about him.
The "hype" on the promos is really better than the programs this season.
-
Totally agree Mondo was the clear winner.
Can't stand Gretchen or Ivey, but I do know the producers are probably setting them up when they do the on camera interviews. My niece has been on 3 Food Network cake challenges and she is on the edge of her seat when the shows air because of the interviews. The producers can "spin" the interviews.
I just wonder what Gretchen thinks about herself since the show has aired. I'm sure she thinks of herself as a victium.
Have to brag a little.....niece won 2 or the 3 cake challenges. So proud of her!!!!!

Our $100 pp deposit/credit was applied to a cruise. Princess had the info on file when we booked the cruise.
-
OMG.......I knew Gretchen wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut.
Her team was so confident and the clothes were awful!
Wish I had the figure to wear Casanova's pants.
Can't wait until next week.

So, I'm wracking my brain trying to think of who is orange, then slap my forehead....Michael Kors!!!! Of course :D
I watched, again and enjoyed, again, Austin and Santino. Love the show, still don't care for the dresses they are making. They remind me of the off the rack stuff you can buy at Macys.
How many ways can Austin wear his hair :)? Loved Santino on the donkey...poor donkey. Great show, I hope they sign them on for another road trip again in the future. I'm thinking this is just a summer replacement show? My husband even laughs at them, while he's passing through the room because he certainly won't sit and watch with me.
I think Gretchen is becoming a legend in her own mind. I do realize it's not all her fault, the producers are editing down several days worth of material into just a few minutes. I like her designs, but she may just become a bit disliked with her attitude.
I totally agree with everything you said with the exception of Austin & Santino's work. They are really good sports and actually I think they have done very well with what they have had to work with.
I've been to the Gibsons in Weatherford, Tx and they were lucky to find $1 a yard fabric. This week at the "quilt shop" in Okla was as big of a challenge. It seems the girls and their familes/friends are amazed with the transformations.
Can't understand how Peach has stayed in the running. Tim helped her above and beyond on the first 2 shows. She looked like a marble was rolling around in her head when Tim came around to help. I can't see her lasting much longer.

I think I'm totally out of touch here! I didn't think McKell's dress was "butt ugly" especially next to Casanova's whatever that was & Jason's demented monk's robe ...I also have to admit, I didn't think the original pants Ivey got were as awful as they thought (I must be showing my age & rural home town :D:D:D) but didn't understand why - after making that blouse and not doing a whole lot to the pants - and arguing with the judges to boot! - they didn't send Ivey home. As an aside - after watching Project Runway for several seasons, why do you suppose they all pulled out the best or most expensive piece they had from their luggage? You'd think they'd expect "But there's a TWIST!"
Heidi said the dress was "butt ugly".
I agree totally with you re: the contestants taking something from their luggage & not thinking there would be twist/reason. You would think they would have watched the previous seasons.
Ivey will be player you LOVE or LOVE to Hate. I'm the latter. I'm sure the producers have a say in who stays and who goes. They are looking for DRAMA.
-
Jason's creation looked liked an "as seen on TV" Snuggie with a belt.
I could see Heidi in the "but ugly" dress if the skirt had been fitted & shorter (LOL)
I love this thread!

I'll add Chicos to the list.

How do you feel about permanent eye & lip makeup?
My day spa will be offering it soon. I think I'm going to pass!

Not clothes related but Cuba related....
We packed a carry-on with 50 tooth brushes, a case of tooth paste, soap, hot wheels, Barbie dolls & rosaries. We gave these to a day care in Havana operated by a nun.
(We did discretely give soap to senior people we would pass on the street. Just a few here & there. (Just a greeting in Spanish & a quick gift. Not a big production)
Everything in Cuba is rationed. They will be thrilled with anything you are able to give them. You won't see them begging.
Have a wonderful trip. It is life changing.
