  1. You made me look it up. 🙂

    ATOL (which stands for Air Travel Organiser’s Licence) is a UK financial protection scheme and it protects most air package holidays sold by travel businesses that are based in the UK.

    Just a FYI-the credit card company did a reversal of the charge while they are doing their investigation.  They can charge it back if they find in favor of Uniworld. Hope the reversal stays.

    I’ll wait a couple of days and see what happens. If no adequate response, I’ll contact my credit card company. Thanks for the suggestion and your experience.

    For those who have opted to "dispute the charge" with their credit card companies, what have been the results?

    Have there been any permanent reversals of the charges?

  3. Uniworld updates continue at a head-spinning rate.

    IMPACTED 2020 CRUISES (updated Tuesday, June 16th)
    As a result of the current global travel restrictions, all Uniworld voyages have been suspended through July 31, 2020. If you have a booking on one of these suspended voyages, a Uniworld representative will be contacting you or your travel advisor (if applicable) to discuss your options.

  4. Our ATL-FRA non-stop flight on Delta was originally scheduled for July 1.  Reservation was booked on Feb 4.

    On May 5, Delta dropped the non-stop from their schedule - substituting a connection through AMS.

    The change made our reservation eligible for a refund or eCredit even though the fares were "non-refundable".

    We asked for a cash refund and received the credit to our VISA card on June 5.

    Kudos to Delta and our TA. 👍🏻

    Did you ever get a reply from Uniworld via your TA?  My TA said Uniworld had not yet suspended cruises beyond July 1.

    Yes we did.

    Our TA phoned her contact at Uniworld and received the following on Jun 1:

    =====================================================================================

    Hi [TA]

    Thank you for the phone call. As discussed, we will submit the full refund for booking ####### and waive the $200pp administrative penalty. Please be advised it may take between 60-90 days for the guests to receive their refund. We thank you for your understanding regarding this timeline.

    I will proceed with cancelling their booking, and moving forward with the refund...

    =====================================================================================

    So now we wait.

  6. As noted by Babcia7 in another thread, Uniworld has cancelled everything through the end of August. Their web site removed the affected cruise offers on May 29.

    Our TA has yet to receive a notification from Uniworld as to the cancellation of our planned cruise and is still awaiting a reply to her inquiry.

    Yes, noticed this little "detail" with the Silver Galapagos ship removed from their listing of ship options.  BUT, how likely will this new Silver Origin will be able to sail on July 18?  My bet?  Slim and none!!

    No disagreement from moi...

    While sad and disappointed that we won’t see Galapagos this year, it’s truly heartbreaking to read of the plight of Ecuadorians, especially those who inhabit the islands. 😥
