We will be on the Island Princess, stopping in Gothenburg on Oct. 1. Wondering where the ship docks. We are taking an Archipelago Island Hopping excursion in the morning and would like to find something to do in the afternoon. Will the ship be close to anything interesting? We are walkers and would not mind just getting off of the ship and taking an walk.

Thanks for your response. We have booked the cruise/tour for this coming January and as the OP said there aren't any reviews of the land portion, or we don't know where to look!. Anyone else have something to add?

Wondering what points of interest we might watch for on our upcoming sail a way out of Buenos Aires.

Bassmaster, really am enjoying your posts. DH and I are doing BA to SA on Jan. 31. Wondering if there is someone presenting lectures on South America history, etc. I am currently reading "Rounding the Horn" and am finding the stories about the region very interesting.

Lisa, Really enjoyed reading your review this morning! What a surprise. Told Larry that I was going to look on CC to see if anyone had posted a live review of our cruise and there you were! Enjoyed talking with you through out the cruise. I would check with my sister each day to see if there had been a "Lisa sighting!" Again I would say to you, those rough seas were not typical. Think about the beautiful port days and how great the weather was on Friday. Love you food pics!

Thanks for all of your responses. Really looking forward to sailaway and the whole cruise!

We will be sailing out of Baltimore for the first time on Sept. 21st. What are the "not to be missed sights" that we should looked for as we sail through and out of the Chesapeake Bay?

highlander cruiser, we too were concerned about the total cost being paid now but had a very good recommendation about this company. We just made sure that our trip insurance covered this part of our trip. our cruise is in January.

I've got my eye on this one too!

We used Diego and had wonderful guides. If Patricia is still with him I would request her. Diego is very good at helping plan your days and arranging the things that are important to you to see. If you ask he will give outline

Thanks, msmardell. We have booked the tour with Diego and it is good to hear positive comments about him and his company, My DH is making the arrangements and I will tell him about Patricia. Very much looking forward to this tour and cruise.

I would also be thrilled and I ALWAYS travel with earplugs!:D

When are you going? Or, did you already use them? I was wondering how they are. We will be there in March 2018 and I sent an email to them as we would like to do the same thing. I haven't found any reviews on this company. The price seem right and they take care of everything.
We have not been yet. Going on the Emerald Princess, Jan 2018. We did go ahead and book them. I had gotten their name from lady I met on another cruise who had used them and really liked them. I found where they were mentioned favorably on a couple of travel blogs. I just really liked the idea that someone else would plan it all out for us. We will be flying to BA and doing the Iguazo Falls tour first, then 2 days in BA before the cruise and they are arranging all of that for use. Don't like the fact that we have to pay in full before the tour but that is what trip insurance is for! Good luck to us both!!!!!

Thank all for your input. Really looking forward to this tour. We decided to go ahead and book with the tour company as they will make all the arrangements for lodging and travel which will also include a two night stay in BA with tours there before boarding the ship. The plan is the full day the ship is in BA we will then be able to plan something on our own (rather than thru the ship) since we have already toured the area.

We are wanting to visit Iguazu Falls before our cruise in Jan out of BA. Has anyone used Buenos Aires tours. http://www.buenosaires-tours.com/Iguazu.htm ? Looking at a 5day/4night tour with them which includes 2 nights in Iguazu and 2 nights in BA with tours in both, plus all the transportation and transfers. Many have said that this is very easy to do on your own but we like that idea of someone else taking care of everything for us. Thoughts please!

Wow, new2cruizin, just looked at the link to Mazatlan. Lots of great info! THanks!

Norris, I have really been enjoying your posts. We did an cruise/land tour the end of May into June this past year. I was confused at first why your "coming into ports" pictures were so different from mine until I realized that it was already light at the time of year when we were docking! So strange having so much daylight! Also I loved your pictures of the John Hopkins.

We had ATD on a California Coastal Cruise on the Grand last fall. We checked in at the door of the dining room and were given a pager. There were 4 of us and we had a short wait. When the pager buzzed we went to the restaurant and they sent us to a table in the TD dining room. A table for 4 where the people had not shown up. As we were looking at our menus the people showed up and were very up set that their table had been given away. (I really don't know the timing as to how late they were but late enough that their table was given away). It was the last night and they wanted their same waiters but I guess not badly enough to be on time!

mhb1757, Where do we get the walking tour you mention? Is it self guided? We are taking a ship tour in the morning and are interested in just walking around Bergen in the afternoon.

Go Regal/Royal.
Loved Alfredo's on the Regal last Feb. Ate there several times. I'm glad to hear that it is probably served in Sabatini's on sea days like I had hoped. No pool side pizza for me!
-
SharkieRools, wished we had known that last April! But NEXT time I win a cruise I will know!
-
I don't see a Alfredo's restaurant on the Caribbean Princess but on the Island Princess Sabatini's served Alfredo pizza during lunch. Wondering if this is true on the CB. Love that Pizza!:)

I won a free Caribbean cruise on the Regal last year and it was worth every penny we had to pay!:p

Did an Alaska cruise on the Island this past May. Also was on the Island thru the Canal before they added the rooms. I will say that I did not like the ship as well the 2nd time. It didn't feel more crowded. I missed the places that they eliminated, The Universe Lounge and the balconies across the back on decks 8,9, 10. The gym and the casino were both smaller. That being said it was a great cruise. There were 2 couples with us who had never cruised before and they loved the ship. I would have to agree with others: for Alaska, it really doesn't matter which Princess ship you choose.

#1 Has anyone done the Midnight Sun Dinner and Float excursion in Fairbanks? We have it booked but cant find reviews on it.
#2 Has anyone done the Covered Wagon/Back Country Dining excursion in Denali?
DH and I did the dinner/float excursion in Fairbanks 3 yrs ago. We booked it thru Princess before we left for the cruise and it turns out that we were the only ones who went and it was very nice. Our own private excursion!
We also did the Covered wagon/Back country dining and enjoyed that as well. We saw a mother moose and baby on the side of the road coming home.
I can't speak to the rest of your questions but would recommend these two excursions.

Both my husband and I are having the same issues with excursions only on our booked cruises. I try the workaround. Very frustrating!
