Waiting for our assignment with balcony GTY with 25 days to Mexican Rivera!

We will be on the Crown March 7th and have booked a guaranteed balcony. We have not be assigned a cabin yet. Just wondering what experiences others might have had with this. How close to the cruise will they assign one? Might we have better luck being upgraded the closer to our cruise date? Hoping for something REALLY great! ;)

I am sure u have already thought about it but why not have a trusted friend of your DD's watch your GD. It would be nice for her parents to have a little get away and for u to have some time alone with the new parents.

That is a wonderful idea, land lover, and yes I had thought about it. But Baby Girl will only be two months old, just 3 weeks now, and DD isn't ready to think about leaving her for that long yet. They live in San Diego so driving time would add to the length of time away. Thought DD and her hubby would enjoy seeing the ship. Maybe next time. I feel confident that DH and I will be traveling to San Diego on a regular basis now! First grandchild!

Just got off of the phone with a Princess rep. Babies must be 6 months old so that question is answered! The good news is that I will be able to stay an extra week with my little granddaughter after the cruise before flying back to KY!!

Never have done a BVE but wanting to invite DD and her husband for a BVE before our cruise in March in LA. They would also have our granddaughter with them. She will be 2 months old, an infant in arms. Is this doable? Please say Yes!

Just got off of the Island on an day 11 partial canal transit. DH and I had the Alfredo pizza lunch in Sabatini's four of those days! Great pizza but not many people knew about it. Several that we talked to thought that there was an extra charge but says right in the Patter that there is Alfredo's complimentary pizza from 10:30- 2:30 daily in Sabatini's. Yum!

Just got off of the Island and two evenings in the MDR a Chocolate Journeys dessert was offered and they were WONDERFUL! :p

I am having a great time today sailing thru the locks via the webcam on the Island Princess. Looking forward to being on the Island myself next week!

What is the Crab Shack? I don't remember seeing that on the ship's information.

I was wondering about this myself. On the Princess website under gifts there is a Princess ship USB drive for $14.55 with the following description: Perfect device to transfer purchased digital photographs taken by our professional photography staff. Size: 2 GB Hoping that they would switch to digital but it is always fun to look through all those pictures! Ugh!:eek:

DH and I are doing the partial transit in two weeks on the Island. Am looking forward to "traveling" with you during the next two weeks!

Just moved from a balcony on the Aloha deck to a mini suite on the Caribe for a partial transit of the Panama Canal on the Island Oct. 12. Never been in a mini before! Very excited! Please tell me how much I am going to love it! :D

We didn't receive any kind of notification. I just happened to check because I had read on another thread that someone had 'just checked' on their cruise personilizer and had seen that their cabin had been changed. I was kind of surprised that they would move us without notification. Most importantly though, we are still on the ship! and cruise!

Thanks for all of the help and great suggestions. I think that we are just going to stay on the Aloha deck. We do like that location. As for noise, my DH can sleep through anything and I always use earplugs when traveling, if needed!

We are sailing on the Island on Oct. 12th. I just checked my cruise personalizer and our cabin has been changed. We were in E225 and are now in A521. Is this an upgrade? Cabins are the same size, but maybe a better location?

Thanks! That was really interesting. We have only had the balcony cabin and it has been fine for us but that extra shower space sure is appealing!

The great majority of passengers are not even aware that the UST exists before boarding the ship and a large number of them do not see the small notice about it in the embarkation day Patter.

 

I suspect competition for the spots on the tour probably mostly comes from Cruise Critic members who become aware of the tour from those who have posted about it.

I know that I started this thread but I REALLY would like to do the tour so...........lets stop talking about it and keep it a secret! I guess my other option is to book a suite!:eek:

We went on an Alaskan cruise last Aug. on the Caribbean Princess. Favorite day of the cruise was the day we went to Glacier Bay! So my advice is whichever one goes to Glacier Bay! However, everyday in Alaska was pretty amazing! Can't tell you anything about Golden or Island but we will be on the Island in Oct and looking forward to it!
