  1. Yes. We had a great tour (as well as a great cruise on the Silver Dawn). We had signed up for the small group tour with http://www.localtrips.no/. The other couple cancelled so it was just the driver (a wonderful retired police chief from Alesund) and the two of us in a Mercedes. The scenery is stunning on the way up to troll road (waterfalls, farms, fjords, coastal villages, mountains, churches, fresh strawberries). Unfortunately, we did not get to see the troll road from above as the fog was very thick by the time we got up to the viewing station. But others from our cruise who did the tour at another time did get to see the road as the fog had lifted. That is Norway (luckily, we had beautiful days on the most impressive fjord ports - Geiranger and Flam. On the way back, we stopped at a viewing point on a hill in Alesund to see the city below. We had a great time and i highly recommend the small group tour from local trips (Trond is the manager). Probably would still have had fun on the cruise tour on the tourist bus but would not have been as special, especially since we were able to converse with our local driver the entire time and find out about his life and the people of Norway.
  2. We are scheduled for this tour next week from Alesund and received a similar modification from the tour operator, who also will add in the village of Valldal and Aksla Viewpoint in Ålesund to make up for the missed stops. I think we will still take the tour and hope the clouds are forgiving at the view point. clouds and fog are a risk the whole trip anyway. Honestly, my DH was worried about getting nauseas on the hairpin turns that now are closed. So it may have worked out for the best.
  3. Thanks for the update. I’ll keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks.
  4. Thanks so much for the explanation. So this just means that shore excursions are included in the cruise? Strange my SS TA had no idea.
  5. Thanks, 57. This is what our itinerary looks like on My Silversea on the day we arrive. Is this what yours looked like? My SS TA doesn’t seem to have a clue.
  6. Thanks so much, 57. Was this something that you knew in advance? Was it through the independent transfer company?
  7. Thanks for the information. We suspected some times may adjust as the departure date approaches. Any insights on what our arrival day will look like since we land at 7am and the cruise doesn’t board until 2pm.
  8. Hi. My DH and I are booked on the June 29 Norwegian Fjord Cruise on the Silver Dawn round trip from Copenhagen and had a couple of questions: 1. Right now, nearly all the excursions through Silversea (both included and select) begin at the same time the ship docks that morning. Is this correct? Could it just be a placeholder until the actual time is set? Curious to know so we can plan other activities in addition to our SS activities. Appreciate information from anyone who has gone through the process before. 2. We are doing door to door. Our flight lands in CPH at 7:15 am and a transfer is included to the cruise ship, which does not board until 2pm. Does SS provide any accommodations (e.g., lounge, luggage storage, etc) during those seven hours? Does the transport pick you up at 715 and just bring you to the ship even though it isn’t ready? We’re happy to plan our own activities but need to better understand the timing and logistics (including w/r/t luggage) and the included transfer. Another uncertainty is whether SS has included an excursion between landing and boarding. While there is not one on my SS invoice, when i go to my silversea on line, it lists a free excursion in Copenhagen after landing. My TA is not sure what that is but is looking into it. Again, any insight on the timing and logistics (and this possible excursion) would be greatly appreciated so we can plan the 7 hours between the time we land and the time we board. Thanks
