  1. Can't help for 1995 but looked in the 1991 and 1997 cruise books. Didn't see any Eastern Carib cruises from San Juan.

In 1991 the Tropical and Festivale sailed out of San Juan on a Southern Carib cruise.

The Ecstasy and Celebration sailed out of Miami on an Eastern Carib cruise with stops in San Juan.

In 1997 the Fascination and Inspiration sailed out of San Juan on a Southern Carib cruise.

The Sensation and Destiny sailed out of Miami with a stop in San Juan.

I would guess that it wasn't on the Destiny or Inspriation since these were built in 1996.

  2. What is your all-time favorite Soup on the Carnival Cruise Line? Here are a list of all the soups onboard, I was going to post a poll but it only allowed 14 and there are 19 soups for a 7 Day menu. If you know more that I don't please do tell, I am a big Soup eater. So I want to know what is your favorite and how many do you order in the Dining Room?

    • Beef and Barley Soup With Diced Root Vegetables
    • Crema Di Funghi Selvatica
    • West Indian Roasted Pumpkin Soup
    • Strawberry Bisque
    • Black Bean Soup
    • Chilled Cucumber Soup
    • Lobster Bisque
    • Cream of Sun-Ripened Tomatoes with a Touch of Gin
    • Won Ton Soup
    • Chilled Cream of Lychees
    • French Onion Soup
    • Corn Chowder Maryland
    • Asparagus Vichyssoise
    • Game Consomme with Juniper Berries and Aged Sherry
    • Cream of Garden-Fresh Broccoli and Wisconsin Cheddar
    • Chilled Zucchini Soup
    • American Navy Bean Soup
    • Gumbo Creole
    • Mango Cream

Great question. I've not had too many soups on the past cruises but the ones I can remember are:

    Gumbo Creole

    French Onion

    Lobster Bisque

    Black Bean Soup

    Vichyssoise

    Gapzpacho

    and the Wild Mushroom Soup.

I am going to try on our next cruise (upon the recommendation of past cruisers on this board):

West Indian Roasted Pumpkin Soup and Strawberry Bisque.

  3. We took the bus there at $3 per person and took a taxi back at 2$ per person. Look for the taxi/bus/excursion stands in the inner part of the shopping area. We went to the bus and we're turned back to the stands to make the arragements.

  4. In a way, the Sunward II got me hooked on cruising. My mother and farther sailed during the earlier 80's and the stories they would tell. From my mother's addiction to dime slots to the buffets. I would listen as they told the tells and look (no, study) the daily cruise newsletters. I had planned what I would do way before my first cruise.

I never sailed that ship but I do wish I had.

  5. We've done both and have enjoyed both. Our first cruises were in the summer time and we selected Late sitting. Made sense considering the amount of daylight during the summer. The problem we had was getting to the shows.

The last two cruises, we selected Main. We were cruising during the winter and thought this would be the perfect choice. We could enjoy the day time and ports until an hour before dinner, enjoy dinner, and then make a show.

The problem that I had with the Main seating was the last cruise, this seating was at 5:45. I thought this was just too early and cut a good 15 minutes off my pre-dinner cocktail hour.

The next cruise, we are going back to the Late seating. I believe that it is at 8:45. It's just a little later than I would prefer but its closer to what time I would like to eat. I'm hoping that it will make for a more relaxing cocktail hour.
