Not done this particular route but have done the Hilton Park one many times. I don't think there are set stops to be honest. Sometimes we get a stop and others we don't. We never find out until the driver announces the itinerary at the beginning of the journey. Some of the coaches have toilets and some don't...

Yours would be a longer journey so hopefully at least one stop.

I have travelled by coach for years,,,,is the ,No toilets’ thing an Intercruises coach,,,every Eavesway/Intercruises coach I have been on has had a toilet.

Can you imagine 50 passengers, half with prostrate problems having one stop in 5.5 hours.😏

From Burtonwood Services where I get on (Eavesway or Intercruises) there is usually no more than 4/5 pick up stops.

Southbound the stop for late breakfast/early lunch is either Warwick Services or Cherwell Valley for the driver to get his break..coming back they do a good run up to Norton Caines services for the drivers 50 min break.

My experience with both Intercruise and Eavesway is that Intercruise is more reliable. They hire coaches according to need so are more flexible with numbers. The coaches are usually Ellisons or similar (particularly for long journeys) so very comfortable. It is the "preferred partner" of P&O, therefore there is more communication and support if anything goes wrong. They did have trouble with their phone lines for a time last year which caused a bit of stress (if you take the coach travel option when booking a cruise you can't book online) but that has been resolved. Eavesway have nerfed their service drastically over the last few years, reducing pick up points etc (nothing north of Preston for example).

Never had any issues with Intercruise unlike my experience with Eavesway. For example, making a one hour diversion to pick up two passengers, off loading luggage at wrong drop off points, and not checking that all cases had been claimed before driving off, coaches breaking down, changing pick up point two weeks prior to departure after arrangements (hotels etc) had been booked and paid for. And all these happened to me on only two journeys with them, compared to dozens with Intercruise.

Different experiences for different folks,,,in probably 30 journeys with Eavesway never had a problem like you describe on any of them.

Done several with Intercruises with no problems, only one issue where coach (Ellisons) had no WiFi,driver said it was due to H&S rules!!!
Btw,,you never claimed your cases when getting of the coaches,,,most times the coach drops you off then drives up to the baggage hatch to be unloaded.

In all my journeys I think it has been a mixed coach twice,,,Iona and FO that was in February,,in summer the coaches are full to whatever ship you are picking up.

There could have been speed restrictions on the motorway, we have two sections close to us where the motorway is restricted to 50 mph to reduce pollution, or there were roadworks

    That’s true..

See my earlier post, my wife doesn't drink, so I would need to consume 2 glasses every night, cheaper by the bottle then 😀

There are a number of couples where one of the couples does not drink, there is no allowance for one drinker per cabin. Interestingly had an email today and Fred Olsen is offering FREE drinks package on selected cruises. £99 per day on a 14 day cruise £1386 is just under the price for one person on that cruise to the Canaries.

Cunard drinks package on cruises over 5 days is $70 (£55.81)

I know the two above cruise lines charge daily tips Cunard £9 per day and FO £5.00 per day, that is still a lot cheaper than P & O.

    Hi.

I did x2 cruises with FO last year their DP is pathetic.

All house brands spirits,,about x3 choices of different wines,,,x1 beer Newcastle Brown or Heineken lager.

I you like John Smiths,Guinness or Jameson’s as I do you pay 50% of the full price.

Just looked at your wine list post, that Penfolds 28 isn’t included on the deluxe package as there’s no D next to it. Looks like the most expensive large glass of red on the deluxe is Wirra Wirra Church Block at £12-95, that’s a decent drop in itself

    Hi.

    Correct…my mistake.

  6. 17 hours ago, ovccruiser said:

Wow £90 or £99 per day, as said for one person even me 😀 thats way too expensive

    Hi

Looking at a wine list I posted on another thread,if you are a wine lover there is a Penfolds28 for £19.95 for a 250ml glass available on the deluxe package.

Two of those plus a coffee a day pays for your deluxe package.

  7. Hi

Thats unusual all coaches must be fitted (by law) with ‘speed limiters’ you will see the sticker on the back of the coach,,,,he can put the pedal to the floor and he won’t go faster than 70mph.

Must have been going down hill with a tail wind😏

If the police stopped him for speeding they would also book him for tampering with the guvorner.

Hi bosses would have found out anyway,,,the lack of a limiter charge would have gone to them.

I know its neat to not go back to a port on B2B’s and B2B2B’s, but except for some of the small island ports, there is A Lot to see in port calls and a 1-day stay is surely not nearly enough. But understand wanting a varied experience

That brings up what I love to see more - Overnights. Gives us a lot more options on tours and actually experiencing cities at night and so on. X started adding more, and need to do it more.

Loved overnight in Dublin and did a Literary Pub Crawl where locals stepped out in the pubs that great Irish writers hung out and played them. Quoted some of their work. It was fantastic. Of course, most Irish fiction is the same as Country Western songs: my girl left me; took my truck and ran over my dog!!

Enough. If not overnight in Dublin, book Dublin for a few days prior to a Dublin start/end port. I know many of us do that so they are in port the day prior, but add a few more and really enjoy a new experience…..or try new ones in a port you’ve been to.

And maybe try a different area prior to the cruise. We did a week in Cornwall prior to a TA out of Southampton; stayed in Civitavecchia, Rome’s actual port, for 3 days and Loved It! Small but lots to do and see in a smaller Italian town.

    den

    Hi.

As a Brit I would love a Round Ireland cruise,,,so close to UK but so few cruise lines do one,,,,NCL and Fred Olsen this year.

I sailed Celebrity from Dublin before covid to Iceland,,Dublin is great for a couple of days pre cruise.

Dublin- Cork- Galway- Killybegs- Belfast- Liverpool (my home town)-Dublin.

Unfortunately Dublin port is closed to cruise ships whilst new docks are being built.

Thank you. It is very helpful but I think the glasshouse wines aren’t on there (having just come back off Aurora).

    Hi

Heres a good idea of Glasshouse wines,,,,,scroll down to the wine pages…

The wines with 125ml are on Classic, those with 250ml are included on Deluxe.

    https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwim94bB1JGBAxUIU0EAHQzlBr8QFnoECA4QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pocruises.com%2Fcontent%2Fdam%2Fpo%2Finventory-assets%2Factivity-types%2Fdining%2Fdining-menus%2Fthe-glass-house%2FH17-140%20Glass%20House%20Menu%20Final%20Artwork_A1%20NO%20PRICES_LR.pdf&usg=AOvVaw2RnQmle6fWJ4ymMOCSuz_9&opi=89978449

Here is a good idea of all P&O wines, some on the Deluxe list at £11 for 250ml seem good for buying the package,,,you only need 4 glasses and you are quids in.😏

Would you say it is a fair swap for Brittania? That’s what people booked and paid for.

Being as I haven’t been to the Belleview apts for 30 years how would I know, how would anyone know if they haven’t been there.

I believe the evening entertainment is very good and facilities for children is brilliant.

Those rooms in post #83 look better than some of the cabins I’ve been in on P&0.

Sorry if this has already been referenced but how do you know which glasshouse wines are included please?  I know tattinger isn’t but is nyetimber for instance?  What is the cut off on the deluxe package?    What about kyro gin in Anderson’s.   Thanks

I believe any wine served by the glass is on the package, the difference between the two packages is you can have the large (250ml) wine on the Deluxe but only the small (125ml) wine on the Classic.

Anything by the bottle only you get a discount on the bottle price.

Download the very helpful list from post #2.

  12. Has anyone who is saying the Belleview Apts are a 2* dump ever stayed there?,I suspect their comments are down to one photo on social media.

The Belleview Apts has been a favourite for Brits for years,,,why would P&O know anything different.

It was fraying at the edges 30 years ago,I believe it was refurbished in around 2019.
It was always mainly apartments so they never did put much emphasis on restaurant food.

And the problem with mosquitos has been known about for years,,,in all hotels in Alcudia.

I am getting picked up from Liverpool for the coach = does anyone have any idea of what time the pick up is for there?

    Hi

We get picked up at Burtonwood Services by Eavesway at 07:45 I believe Liverpool is ~07:15.

A couple of times with P&O coach it’s been 09:15 from Burtonwood,,,P&O from Liverpool usually use Ellisons coaches,,lovely coaches.

  14. Hi

I believe the hotel was the Bellevue Apartments complex in Alcudia,,it’s a massive complex probably the biggest on the Island.

Probably the only place to house all those who left the ship.

It’s still a firm favourite with Brits,,,built in 1974 might be getting a bit rough now,,,it was rough 40 years ago when I went.

Btw Alcudia is notorious for mossies due to the standing water of ponds and canals which are a feature of Alcudia.

That is hilarious. I was still a bit unclear though. I guess he was upset because he likes grape tomatoes and they only had cut up full size tomatoes. I cannot imagine anyone eating a large tomato.

I really hope people realize that fruits and veggies are seasonal. If you cruise out of growing season, you may find availability of certain foods lacking. I'd rather have no tomatoes than tomatoes that have been sitting in cold storage for months.

    Hi

Have you never walked into a greenhouse bursting with tomatoes,,pulled one off and eat it out of your hand,,,,,one of the joys of summer.

Especially the small round variety ‘Gardeners Delight’.

    Sorry for going off topic!!😉

It happens all the time the armchair specialists with very little factual evidence think they know better. The same thing happened couple of years ago when P&O didn't dock in Amsterdam due to weather conditions. All the armchair specialists, some who are on this thread, were highly critical of the Captain and were suddenly master mariners who knew better. It even went as far as some suggesting the Captain should be sacked. Laughable but honestly it isn't funny, like I said earlier in thread no or little knowledge can be very dangerous and many, with no sea qualifications knew better than the Captain.

Why are you trying to stop people asking questions?

Regretably for some not all countries permit kettles in the cabin for "safety" reasons - the USA is one such.

Personally our kettle is immediately moved to the bottom of the wardrobe, we keep the tray and cups everything else is removed by the Cabin Steward.

We always have a cabin on Deck 7 central, for easy access to the Al Bacio and the Hideaway. Our day starts with an Al Bacio latte and ends at the same venue.

    Hi.

My wife likes a cup of Horlicks for bed,,,,she has to take her own sachets from home,,,a kettle is very handy.

Was the weather predicted - Yes

Did the weather even predict Hurricane force winds - Yes

Did the weather talk about unprecedented rain - Yes

This wasn't a completely un-expected event. What does a captain do, oh look might be hurricane force winds tomorrow, this thing its like a huge mobile sail what should I do??

Were the passengers made aware of the potential of bad weather - it seems not.

Did they ensure a tug was on hand just in case - No they didn't

Did they put extra lines were on and all existing at the right tension to ensure the issue was mitigated - we don't know

Did they review half hourly weather to see if they need to bring in anything on deck or limit people going outside - again it appears not.

Was the fact there was a drill actually going on meant they were distracted - possibly and this could have been a factor

The number of people blindly defending P&O without the merest challenge is worrying at best and I could use far stronger. Yes these weather events can be un-predictable, yes sometimes they aren't as bad as can be made out, but this one was pretty darn bad and as a result a good few people have had the latter half of their holiday ruined as a result and it appears it could potentially have been avoided.

One of those things, maybe, could it have been much worse..... yes and thank goodness it wasn't.

    Good questions to ask.

And one does not have to be a "UK citizen" to enjoy tea.

The idea that kettles are only provided to UK citizens seems more than a bit off-putting.

    Hi.

Kettles are not only provided to UK citizens.

Many nationalities sail from Southampton,,they all get kettles.
If you mean all ships wherever they sail from should have kettles in the cabin I agree,,,or you are able to ask for one…….which I think you can.

You do get a good choice of tea and coffee with the kettles,,,I always get a glass of Lactose free milk from OV for my coffee.

The math doesn't add up 63% +  59% is more than 100%, LOL

Sorry about the Southampton spelling. I wish Celebrity would provide an expresso/coffee machine in cabins lower than Royal Suites. I love them in European hotel rooms when we travel. I prefer a good expresso or 2 or 3 in the morning over a cup of coffee.

We are Diamond (the highest level) loyalty with Hilton, but we will never stay in that new TRU brand. TRU is a concept tailored for the business traveler on a limited per diem basis. Fortunately they are usually located next to an Embassy Suits, Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn which we prefer when we travel.

I thought that but I just took the figures from an article I read.

    The para went..

“However, as new research suggests this week, it may simply have been a sign of things to come: coffee has overtaken tea as the UK’s preferred drink. Sixty-three per cent of consumers say they regularly drink coffee against 59% saying they regularly reach for tea. I’m guessing the trend has largely been driven by millennials (such as me) and Gen Z, who prefer coffee to a classic builder’s brew – though not exclusively. If we vote with our pound, we’ve elected coffee supreme, but is it cause for celebration?”

Celebrity cruises that depart from South Hampton the last few years includes a hot water kettle in cabins for the British citizens who want to make tea for breakfast. Celebrity even provides the tea bags so if they were to charge for them it would not be a pretty site.

The last survey I saw 63% of Brits regularly drink coffee to 59% who regularly drink tea.

As a Brit of 76 years I hate tea.

But I do love the kettles in the cabin to make a coffee.

Btw,,,sorry to be pedantic but it’s Southampton,,,one word no double H in the middle.
