  1. I feel like travel companies such as Cruises/Air Industry etc... have caught on with the last minute booking practices and actually refuse offering sales for this exact reason.

Maybe. I have yet to get a price drop close to a cruise sail date, if anything, just see them go up. We have Thanksgiving booked this year as well, and the prices are climbing. I typically book early and not think to much about it. Since I have a guarantee cabin for this cruise, I've become intrigued with how cabins get booked.

  2. You have had a lot different experience than I have had. On 2 of my sailings Carnival bumped myself and my mom from the cabin that we had booked - both times the cabin that we booked was listed as a double occupancy (non PC) cabin.

For the cruise in 2009 neither the travel agent or us were ever contacted to see if we would give up our cabin and we found out about the cabin change while being checked in at the VIP lounge in Port Everglades.

The other cruise was in 2010 which I had booked through the Carnival web site. We were never contacted to see if we would be willing to give up our cabin and we found out about the change while being checked in at the VIP lounge at the Port of Miami.

I'd be mad, but I'm borerline obsessive with checking cruise manager, so I guess I would have caught the change earlier.

  3. So I am 54 days out from sailing, and Carnival is holding tight to capacity potential. I booked at a rate 100 dollars cheaper per person, than the current rate. Makes we wonder if a bunch of us are sitting on guaranteed cabins, which would give Carnival the option to be stricter with cabin capacity, since we will be given what'd left over anyway. On the bright side, both Captains Suites and 2 Grand suites are available. Still an outside chance of a great upgrade, although I am only a lowly Gold member

  4. Not true. CS shows up as a suite option when doing a mock booking for 2 people on a cruise we are taking in April. It might have to do with availability and how far cruise is out.

I am sailing April 16th on the Valor, and it only appears as an option when I say I am looking for a cabin for 5.

I have been watching the suites very closely, because I have a guarantee. I thought there was only 3 cabins left, until I altered the amount of people being booked into a cabin. I was shockd at what "became available" based on number of passengers entered.

  5. ....because the room is designed to hold 5 and they are in limited quantity compared to the standard 2 passenger cabin. If they allow parties of 2 to book all of those then the family of 5 has no options.

So I guess as the cruise gets closer, they must release the higher capacity rooms to be booked by parties of 2 right. I mean, would they let it remain empty if a family if 5 doesn't come along?

  6. So, I've noticed that if I change the number of people I am attempting to book a cabin for, cabins magically appear as available that don't appear as if I am booking for 2. This is true of the Captains Suite. It is only available of you say you are booking 5 people in a cabin. So only a party of 5 can book that suite??? I'm just curious, not looking to book it or anything 💲💲💲

    TiA.

  7. I have a question ... I was watching a cruise that we currently have booked. They were showing about 11 cabins left including 1 spa interior, 1 handicap interiors, 2 handicap spa interiors, 2 OV, 2 cove, 3 suites. And a pack & go for a 1A upper/lower but they never showed the location/number of that cabin, or showed the ability to book that 1A any way other than pack & go. Prior to this all of the 1A's had been sold out for a while.

One by one all of the cabins booked, until all that was left was the 1A and the 3 suites, then 1A & 2 suites, then 1A & 1 suite, then sold out. But, even though they showed 1 or 2 suites only, I'm almost positive I saw there were 3 cabin numbers to choose from if you wanted to straight out book the suite. I kept telling my husband I thought anyone booking those pack & go's were actually getting upgraded to the different rooms they were actually showing left and the last 3 were upgraded to the suites.

    Thoughts ?

They may be trying to get someone already booked to upgrade to a suite, then the pack and go people get the cabin originally booked by the people who upgraded.

I have a suite guarantee with 8 suites left on my booking, but a TON of other cabins available. I anticipate getting an Ocean Suite, even though there are 2 grand suites left. (Not looking an upgrade BTW, i got a really good deal and will be delighted wit h whichever suite I get). I am waiting to see how this plays out as the ship has more cabins sold. We have 63 days till sailing

  8. So.... we are booked on the Valor for April 16th and many cabins are still available. I'm surprised the price hasn't dropped with the amount of available cabins. Do a lot of people really book this close to sail date? In your experience, will Carnival drop the price to get more cabins booked and in what time frame?

    TIA.

  9. I did a suite gty once. Found out that on the Pride you can end up with a suite that has a stairwell that runs right along one side of your balcony. Not only was the balcony no bigger than a regular balcony' date=' it had less privacy and we were unable to leave our curtains open by the bed as anyone using the stairs could look right in. The room was large and I really liked having a little vanity area by the bathroom. Overall, I was disappointed enough that I have not & probably will not book a suite again. I read about so many people getting lucky with their guarantees and hope you are among them.[/quote']

Luckily, it doesn' appear that any suites are near a staircase. Not sure why a room labeled a suite would have that kind of placement.

  10. You are talking about the junior suites. We had one booked on the Glory for our cruise in April, but just switched to an Ocean Suite because of the direct line of sight into the balcony/cabin from the Captain's Suite.

Yes the junior suites. Not sure why a room that is a "suite" would have a very unprivate balcony. Oh well, I got a great rate and can just hope for a suite on deck 7.

  11. Good morning, I just upgraded my Valor cruise from a balcony to a suite guarantee. Has anyone booked a suite guarantee before and which cabin did you get?? When i did a mock booking, the suites on 9 didnt show up (i guess they are booked.) NOW that I am looking at the deck plan, I can see them and they don' look private with the Cpt. Suite overlooking them. If we get one of those, I will pay to upgrade to the Ocean Suite.

  12. Do I need to notify them prior to the pull beginning. We have about 26 playing. I read somewhere else that they "tighten" the slots if you tell them in advance, but I don't want to break any rules either.
