Anyway, in this case, it’s not the cruise lines themselves to blame but the natural inclination to think, “Quebec, that’s not far at all [under 400 miles] from Boston” and assume that transportation won’t be too complicated.  Not so.

I think the easiest solution is actually to sail back-to-back—leave from Boston and return to Boston.  If you watch the fares, you might be able to find a deal that would that would double your vacation and only cost a little more (or even a little less!) than the one-week cruise and flights.

when I was looking at Quebec back to Boston flying, you had to fly way past Boston for a connection to then fly back up.  If we didn't have so much going on it would make perfect sense to do the back to back cruise.

we decided to book the Disney Dream out of NYC to Bermuda on 10/7.  Hoping the weather will cooperate. 😂😂

There are two unexpected joys to come out of this.  First, if you like aviation even a little, the views of planes taking off and landing—even if the end of the runway is obstructed by buildings due to our mooring—this is the place to be.  I spent a few hours today without the normal sail-away frenzy on deck with a drink just watching them fly by.

Second, I’ve never seen a sky quite like this. I’m not a photographer but it’s beautiful.

An expected joy is Moderno, the Brazilian steakhouse onboard.  It is equally delicious and the service is equally wonderful even if we’re stuck in port.

I live just north of Boston and that sunset was amazing.  Hope you get to see some ports soon!  We had been looking at this cruise but I didn't want to figure out how to get back to Boston from Quebec. lol

Over the 10 years or so (probably more) that I have been on this site, I have seen at least a dozen "what if it is full" threads.

And not yet a post about it actually being full.

But the answer is, if it's full, go to your favorite parking app, like Spot Hero, and find the closest well priced alternative. Just as you'd do if any other parking option were unavailable.

I would know how to do that but thank you anyways.  I wanted to know where the best places to park and be able to cross the major road that runs in front of the cruise docks.  Both TSS Alex and njhorseman gave me those cross roads and that was helpful.

    Have a nice day!

  4. MCT says it's full on October 7th for our Disney Dream cruise.  I still plan to try and park there but if it is full then where would be a good secondary garage?  Websites that I've looked at say 57th or 58th Street, but that looks far on Google Maps?  I'm asking because my husband has mobility issues after suffering a stroke so I know I could drop him off but how do I get across 9A walking?  It looks like a major throroughfare?

  5. I just booked a Disney cruise for 10/7/23.  I want to buy travel insurance either tonight or tomorrow.  Will I miss out on any benefits booking this close to sail date?  I obviously had to pay in full since the cruise in 37 days away.  Hopefully I can get a pre existing waiver with the insurance.  I'm getting overwhelmed looking at all the choices on Insuremytrip.  Thoughts?

  6. I've been to most of the popular beaches on St Thomas, we did a land vacation there.  I enjoy Sapphire the most. It has some waves and snorkeling, I think your 11yr old would like that one better.  Just bring water shoes if you go because the tiny shells at the edge of the water can hurt. 😜

  7. I keep getting emails for the included Cheers package so I finally checked it out.

I was looking at a 5 night on the Sunrise for next May for an OV, with the Cheers code is $814pp, while an Early Saver is $439pp?  I can't figure out if this is a savings somehow? haha

Edited to add:  I guess I'm so out of the loop that I didn't realize that Sunrise was the Triumph reimagined. 😂

  8. I have only made a downpayment for my July 3rd cruise.  My final payment is in 12 days and I don't want to sail this summer.  I put down $200 per cabin originally.  if I want to book a longer cruise for 2021 do I have to put down more money for the deposit?  I just want to see what I want to change it to before I call them.

If you are healthy and under 80 I would still go.

unfortunately I am the biggest germaphobe and being a captive audience will probably give me a nervous breakdown.

If I start seeing notices being passed around about potential problem, I honestly don't know what I would do.

I'm not a cruiser anyways, I go for my husband.  haha
