Thanks, Hank, for the insight. Will definitely verify with Hertz that the airport location is open. I have contracted to return the car, after hours, to the downtown Cannes location (147 Rue d'Antibes). Perhaps, I should verify that too. So it seems like a good plan would be to get my rental car as early as possible from Cannes airport, make our way to Nice to see St. Paul de Vence and the flower market, then make our way to Monte Carlo Casino, which opens at 2pm, anyway. Then around 4pm, I can make my way back to Cannes, drop off the rental car, and walk back to the ship, which departs at 7p. Does that sound practical?

Like forreals. I'm sure that this has been asked or tried before. My cruise stops at Cannes on one day, then goes to Marina di Carrara (kinda Florence/Pisa, the next day). Carrara is a terrible port and doesn't have many excursions on your own. So what I want to do is rent a car in Cannes from hertz and return in it DT Florence, then just take a taxi back on the ship on the second day. I already checked with Hertz that I can do this, so not worried about the car, and getting a transfer from Florence to the ship should be easy enough. The question is, how will the ship handle me not re-boarding, and will I not be allowed on the next day. Can I ask for permission to do this? What if I don't? I've been on like 30 cruises in my life, so I'm not new to the travel type. Thanks for your insight.

Did I map the incorrect tender drop off? I get there on Sunday. The location on town is closed, as most of them are.

My RCL booking doesn't mention Villefranche, so I assume that it's the port southwest of DT Cannes. I would take the train, but my elderly mom will be with me, and driving makes it easier yo get around

Rented a car at Cannes Airport to day trip to Monaco. have 10 hours in port, so that should be cool. So thinking of taxi to Cannes airport, get car, drive to Monte Carlo, Check that out then see whatever would be cool on the way back. Return the car in downtown Cannes, which is not open that morning bc it's Sunday, but they do allow after-hours return. Do you see anything wrong with this idea? Please and thanks.

Can someone please answer this question. I keep reading threads about Civ, but can't seem to find it. If we take the train back from Rome to Civ station, how do I get to my cruise ship? Is there a shuttle that will get us to the gangway? Should I just opt for a transfer that will drop us off in front of the ship? Last time we did this in 2017, we walked all the way to the ship, which sucked. Can't do that now since my elderly mom will be with me. Please and thanks.

Ohhhh....so I actively have to switch to MTD in order to eat whenever I want, and if I don't then they will deny me access if I go to the MDR outside of my stated time? Do I have this correct?

Super cool. Thanks for the insight. So basically, I can just show up at the MDR and try to get seated whenever, if I don't come at the reserved time. And also, VOS is an older ship. How about formal nights? are those a thing on RCL?

Hey everyone. Have been on like 25 NCL cruises, so no stranger to cruising. NCL is the only line that I've been on. Going on first RCL cruise (Vision of Seas, Greek Islands.) Looking for a discussion of differences between cruise lines that I should be aware of. The first thing that I see is that I have a stated dinner time of 6pm. What does that mean? That there is a dedicated dining room? NCL let's you do whatever you want whenever. Can I change that seating time? The port days end at 7pm. Please let me know your insight on anything else that could be helpful Please and thanks.
