  1. This is probably a silly inquiry as most of mine are. Just wondering if signing onto a Princess excursion gives any sort of priority at a tendered port for disembarking? On our BI cruise the first port is tendered and the time in port is very short. My husband wants to either skip any excursions or take a Princess sponsored one if there is a chance we won't be at the end of the queue. No status whatsoever as this is only our second cruise ever. (And probably will be our last). Lol. Thanks for any input.

  2. We will be disembarking early from our BI cruise here. I understand that it is about a mile and a half from the train station. Does anyone know if there is a taxi stand near the pier? As I've been told that many passengers do leave their ships at this port, I must assume that taxis are around. Or is there a shuttle into town? Thanks for any help.

  3. We've almost always been way down on the wait list, for example, 130th, then 25th, them 90th. There's no pattern that I can see.

However, we have always in the last 10 years or so, gotten the seating we asked for.

Ok. Thanks. Just looked again at our booking and we've moved down to 33. These algorithms drive me insane. I'll just chill out and see what shakes out in May. [emoji76]

  4. I'm still a newbie cruiser. Last Feb I booked a cruise 15 months in the future. I never once looked at my TD request. It said requested and confirmed. After reading this thread I looked at it and it said that we were 29th on waitlist. 29th?? Seriously? What exactly does that really mean? On our first cruise we took ATD and liked it just fine.

Our cruise is 124 days out. Anyone think I should just tough it out (29th on waitlist) or try to change to ATD. What happens if our number never comes up?

Husband not upset. He likes the Horizon Court anyway.

  5. We did an Alaska cruise in September. My husband was looking forward to the beer excursion afterwards out of Anchorage and he had a great time in the tour at four breweries. I just went for the ride along. It made up for the appalling lack of craft brews on the ship. We will probably never return to Alaska but he was one happy beer blogger for a couple of days. (I only drink white wine. Sorry)

  6. My husband is a card-carrying beer snob. On our first cruise last September he was lured with the promise of Alaskan beers onboard. He found them replaced with Sea Witch He would just tolerate Alaskan Brewery beers; Sea Witch was offensive.

We had signed on for a British Isles cruise just before. He was, of course, thinking Guinness or Scottish or British ales. Apparently not going to happen.

He got used to drinking red wine on the Alaskan sojourn. He will have to do the same in May However there are more port days on this cruise so he can hit the pubs on terra firma. [emoji2]

  7. To Thinfool. Believe me. He's onboard with the change back because I said I was going to go crazy with all the traffic charging out of the lifts for breakfast in the morning and stomping right by our cabin. Not a peep out of him after that.

  8. Whew. Thanks guys. I called our online travel agency which called Princess in turn. Apparently it was considered an upgrade since it was further forward However I really liked the location of C715 when I chose it last February. So, it's in the works and may take up to 24 hours to show C715 back in my cruise personalizer. [emoji2]

  9. Just looked at my cruise personalizer and discovered our room has been changed from the Caribe deck C715 to the Lido deck L305 for our British Isles cruise May 1. I haven't called Princess yet to change but my feeling is not great about it. My husband likes the proximity to the bars and the Horizon Court but I'm just not sure.

Anyone think this is a good location?

    Thanks.

  10. Ps to my note. We are staying at the Green Park Hilton (we stayed there years ago before we started renting Apts). It's a block from the Piccadilly line green park tube station. The beauty of this is that the Piccadilly line runs from Heathrow. No tube changes and that line is so deep that there are lifts and escalators at all stations. Very convenient if you are schlepping luggage.

Green Park is right in the heart of Buckingham Palace and the Strand area with some historic pubs as well.

  11. How many days is a "few"? What are you interested in ? The major attractions can be easily accessed by the tube. The HOHO buses run regularly and have two or three different directions. I'm assuming that you haven't visited London before.

We've been regular visitors to the UK for many years and have booked the BI cruise for next spring. We could find all sorts of ways to get to Southampton from London but have chosen the Princess transfer from Victoria Coach for the convenience.

Have a great time planning London. You will get lots of help and imput from CC members. [emoji2]

  12. As a frequent visitor to both London and Amsterdam, my only advice would be to give yourself three to four days minimum in either city. We are doing the British Isles cruise on Princess in May and will spend two nights in London beforehand. However, if I only had one city to unwind in pre-cruise and hadn't visited before...I'd certainly give it at least three nights

  13. I had the best luck at getting a treadmill in the Coral at 6 am. Very few users until 7 am. The morning I got there at 7 am there were people waiting (at least they have a lot of weight machines to occupy the queue). I did venture in about 4 pm one afternoon and the treadmills were available.

  14. To Greymeowsr (love your name). You will love the Coral. Such a pretty ship and such a pleasant staff.

To Mikeb384 and DriveslikeMario (and all the other nice posters who suggested that I would enjoy a much more port intensive itinerary). Yes. Am looking forward to the BI cruise next May - only 2 sea days out of 12 and not back to back such as the Alaskan glacier days). We're just pretty active people and maybe we haven't learnt the fine art of relaxing as some commentators apparently have. So. On that note we are looking into a couple of Mediterranean jaunts for either autumn 2017 or spring 2018 - maybe both.

But seriously, both of us enjoyed what we saw of Alaska but have no tearing desire to re-do this cruise. Too much of the rest of the world to see. [emoji7]
