Yes if you are Elite on X you should automatically be bumped up to Diamond on RCI. Yes your TA can call them or you can. Perhaps they have not got your X profile linked to your RCI profile so they don't know you are the same person, It is easy to resolve.

Thanks a bunch. Yes there was a name change in there and a new TA, so I think there's a bit of work to be done, but that is great news. I didn't plan on going back to RC because my now ex was a firm Celebrity fan... so I never expected to be in this situation :classic_laugh: not a bad one to be in though.

  2. So, wait. Sorry to hijack the thread first of all, but this is raising questions now :)

I was Emerald on RC when I started cruising Celebrity several years ago. After a few cruises with Celebrity we reached Elite. Does that mean I can transfer that back to RC to be Diamond now? When I log onto RC it still shows me as Emerald so I think this would be something I'd need to contact RC directly to do? Could my TA do it?

    Thanks!

  3. I'm loving your review(s), MrFunInTheSun. Thank you for posting so many pics, and the cruise compasses.

I've noticed the Dalí art seminars in a few of the past cruise compasses, and wondered if it's always Dalí or if those featured artists change over time? And do they change based on the ship? I'm thinking we would attend one of those seminars if the artist and time was right. I'm curious if we can expect it to be Dalí, since that's what I keep seeing, or if it might be a different artist by the time we're on the ship?

  4. No response..?

    Not surprised to be honest.

Give her a break, she's not on here every day, and to be honest I don't blame her. I was subscribing to this thread because I thought it was funny at first, how personally everyone was taking her review, but now I feel bad for the OP; people just aren't giving up.

She did say in her first post that she's been on a lot of different cruise lines, so if you want an answer to your question, I would suggest starting there. If you read between the lines (i.e. lox for breakfast, the kosher catering comment) you may consider a Jewish upbringing, or at least Jewish influence in her diet. I think that lends credence to the catering narrative.

I for one give her credit. She has come back here several times to reply to comments, and while they may not be the answers you want or in a timely enough manner for you... I think they go to show that she's earnest and her intentions for her initial review were positive - in that she thought she could help others out.

  5. I will be on your same cruise, so I can't speak from personal experience, obv, but I've read on the most recent reviews that the new xcellerate wifi (just installed the last couple weeks) is fast and easy. And there's now enough bandwidth, or whatever it's called, to stream and download, which wasn't possible a few weeks ago. There are packages you can buy, and you can connect on your device pretty much anywhere on the ship.

  6. If you like burgers (or veggie burgers) and fries, don't miss the Mast Grill on the deck above the pool deck, port side. If you are sunbathing on a sea day and don't feel like putting on your shirt/cover ups for the buffet, you can eat right there or bring the food back to your lounger.

It's been two years, but the last time I was on Reflection, this was the only place to get burgers during lunch/mid afternoon. I think they close before dinner time.

A more recent guest can correct me if I'm wrong

  7. Thank you for sharing your experience. I'll be on Reflection in March, so it's always interesting to begin hearing about others' cruise experiences on the ship, now that the Caribbean season has started.

Did you have a traditional dining time, or did you do Select? You said you had the same waitstaff and sommelier, so if you did Select, I assume you would have made a reservation for the same table every night...

Also, I second cgcags47 question. Maybe I haven't read enough on the topic on these boards, but that's the first I've heard of paying extra money to "rub elbows" with the officers.

    Thanks!

  8. 7. Nice comfy bead with a working shower and cold beer

I've been trying for years to get a good nap in while showering. I didn't realize you needed to have the shower be part of your bed. AND the bed gives you beer?!?! Who do you have to know to reserve that room?

  9. Call Celebrity's Captain's Club 1.800.760.0654, have your Crown & Anchor number(s) available. It should only take a few minutes.

You will get the equivalent status, but you won't accumulate Crown & Anchor points if you do decide to go back to RCCL, if that's important to you.

We were Platinum/Emerald on RCCL and the equivalent status on Celebrity is Select. You can check out the benefits on Celebrity's website. I think the only thing we used was the Gelatto coupon (which is given to all the tiers), and we went to the senior officers' cocktail party.

  10. Thanks so much, Shelby!!! A couple of our friends will be very happy to hear about the Adirondack chairs, they were most interested to be right on the beach, and were wondering about the ease of lounging.

The more I hear about Jost, the more excited I am to go... Ahhh, I can't wait to try the famous Painkiller!

  11. We've got a private boat rented to take us over to the BVIs from St Thomas in four weeks, for a bar crawl, and and wondering what the avg amount of cash we should bring for the day? And do the bars take credit cards, just in case? And do the bars serve food? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated!

  12. It seems that Bistro on 5, Mast Grill and The Porch would be good choices! But Mast Grill and The Porch are outside? One of my daughters is a vegetarian so looking at the menus makes me want to rule out Mast Grill. Sitting outside if a nice day sounds great! So would The Porch be best? Thanks for your help.

Oh! They did have veggie burgers at Mast Grill. But they have to special make them so you may have to wait a few minutes. Service at Bistro on 5 and the Porch tends to be very slow in my experience (but you're not in a hurry, right) so waiting a few minutes for a veggie burger wouldn't make a difference in that respect.

Mast Grill location is right out in the open, so people will be walking nearby, and you may have to move a couple tables closer together if you have a group of more than 4. The Porch is its own private area, so you feel like you are in a real little restaurant. It is mostly protected if the weather is less than perfect; we ate there on a windy drizzly day, and it wasn't completely comfortable due to the wind coming through the slats between the glass, but it was better than being out in the open. Nice view, too.

Lastly, since Mast Grill is free, there aren't waiters actually waiting on you, you go up to the counter and order like a deli, and seat yourself. At the Porch you will be waited on and it will feel like more of an experience, rather than just filling your tummy.

  13. We are a group of six (3 couples - all family). Hubby and I have cruised 8 times (never on Celebrity) but the others have not. After many, many years we finally got them to go on one - let them pick - and Summit it is! I'm sure we will all drink our share of the package.

Is there only one person who gets drinks for everyone in the MDR?

The bar server does service a section of tables, not the whole MDR, but it does take a while for them to a) get to you, and b) bring your mixed drinks/beer. (Same goes for the sommelier, she was running her butt off!!!). We always grab a cocktail from a bar before dinner to bring in with us, to prevent any unnecessary lapses in alcoholic ingestion ;)

As far as the soda goes, you will want to let the bar server know on the first night that you'd like them every night and you should be all set. On our first night, we ordered a couple large bottles of Evian and Perrier for the tables (our group was 12, so we had two tables), and every night after, fresh cold bottles were waiting on our tables for us. We didn't actually even ask the waiter for that, but they must get some kind of tip for everything they serve so that was an easy one for him.
