  1. Again, I was on the Sunshine over Labor Day 2017. Busy time as it was a holiday. NO issues at all with lines. Eating in the buffet was easy, Guys burgers, a small line that moved very fast, never waited for food, never. The Sunshine is a great ship, it gets a bad rap, and I have no idea why. Maybe people have different perspectives of long lines. I have been cruising for 30 years, well seasoned, lots of different lines, but long lines on my cruises really have never been an issue.

    Ditto.

We just sailed on the sunshine and absolutely loved her!!

I was trying to decide between vista and sunshine for our 2018 cruise and waited to make the decision until after this last cruise.

It was an easy decision for me.

We loved the sunshine. It’s been my favorite ship so far and I can’t wait to get back on her.

    The price was better.

We can drive to Port Canaveral

I loved the serenity area and the Havana bar area was fabulous and never crowded

We always got seats by the pool

    Staff was great

It was extra clean and Emma was an awesome CD.

  2. If I don't pre-buy CHEERS, can I buy it once onboard (albeit more $$) but starting the next day (not the day I board) and only be charged for that next day forward?

Also, am I going to be able to get a specialty coffee on the day we disembark or is the package stopped at 6am on departure day?

Yes, you can get a specialty coffee the day of debarkation and use cheers.

  3. Hmmm ..guess just in case .. did you have to go to the special line at guest services or maybe have a tender port?

Nope. We went to Bermuda, so no tender.

And I never went to guest services either.

It was on the card when we picked it up at check-in.

  4. Here is a sticker

We had this same sticker for our September cruise on Sunshine out of NY.

We also had all the perks mentioned plus our room steward gave us a plate of cookies and a note that said "some sweets for our suite guests"

  5. I was just looking at the airporter website.

So everyone thinks this is a good option for transport from Laguardia??

We are staying at The Roosevelt. I believe it's on 45th.

The last time we came to New York we took a cab but if this is cheaper and easy then I may go ahead and schedule this.

    Reviews???

    Thank you!

  6. I don't understand the need for a customer service agent or PVP to have to explain every last detail to someone.

When I was a brand new cruiser. (Which was just 3 years ago...I'm still very new but well informed) I went to Carnival's web site and read FOR MYSELF every word. I took it upon MYSELF to educate MYSELF on all policies.

Since I knew nothing going in, I wouldn't have known the right questions to even ask a customer service agent.

After learning a ton of information on the website, I found this forum and learned even more.

The information is out there. You just have to be willing to look for the answers and then you have no one to blame when something like this happens.

(Which in my opinion is all most people want anyway)

  7. I'm always cold!!

I bring a sweatshirt to throw on over my clothes if I get cold at breakfast or in our cabin.

I bring a cardigan to wear over my dresses if I get cold in the dining room or bars at night.

The only time I get hot is in the sun by the pool. In that case...a pina colada does the trick. [emoji23][emoji23]

  8. Yes. I understood that the $107 was for the taxi fare. And I understand she got her Carnival money back. So ultimately she paid $107 for 5 people to get to the port. I just don't see the issue here unless the OP was looking for a totally free trip.

Either way, with Carnival or taxi she was paying to get to the port. carnival screwed up, perhaps, and they refunded her money. I don't see the reason for them to pay for the taxi too.

  9. I booked under early saver.

I had to change a name because one of the women going is having surgery and can't go.

    I called customer service.

I was told it would cost $50 to change the name to the new person.

As we got closer to the date for final payment, the amount would increase. (I can't remember the exact details but I do know I had paid off the cruise)

So when I was ready to change the name, I called CS back and they changed the name for me. (Easy as pie) and it was indeed only $50.

So although it may say you can't change the name under Early Saver....they must be willing to bend those rules.

  10. Yes. They will extend the date.

I called on our last cruise and they extended the final payment due date for me. I think, if I'm remembering correctly, it was just 2-3 days.

Just call customer service and ask.

  11. We have a cruise booked on the sunshine in September.

I was hesitant but decided to go for it since it was sailing out of the port I wanted and I liked the itinerary.

After booking, I read lots of reviews and comments. It seems to me that the people that love the sunshine...REALLY love the sunshine and that makes me feel 100% comfortable with my decision.

Reviews are often biased and I take those with a grain of salt but comments from others on this board are what I listened to the most.

I'm so confident that I have already booked another cruise on sunshine in 2018.

  12. I just changed a name on my booking and I had to call CS. (Couldn't do it on line)

They told me the cost would be dependent on how close to the cruise date I was.

For me...it was $50 to change one name.

I was booked ES and able to change the name.

And it was after I had paid the final payment.

  13. We stayed at the Wyndham in New Orleans. It was right in the French quarter. Walking distance to great restaurants and all of the tourist sights.

Then we took an uber to the port the morning of our cruise and it was only $8.
