  1. I kind of liked the look of the purple decor but what will I care when I'm sitting in the whirlpool with a cocktail.... but then there's the pullman bed :o we will have to decide which of the 5 of us sleeps in the whirlpool. We're going to be a particularly close knit family for those 7 days!

  2. Oh Kizzabel that is really reassuring, it would make his holiday if he could join that group rather than the younger kids! Thank you so much :D

No worries at all - the teen club did some singing competitions, quiz games and played games consoles etc. Jem had a blast and made some great friends that she keeps in touch with on whatsapp - the english barrier wasn't such an issue in the end. I know it was something we were apprehensive about prior to embarkation.

  3. We are also sailing next November. I don't plan to look at excursions until next summer. I'm not sure why they're not available yet but I wait, just assuming the excursions can change over time.

    Ah ok, thank you kindly.

I'm happy enough that it isn't just me! There is one excursion in particular I want to get booked but after that we don't have anything I would have any urgency on.

  4. We didn't pay as we have the black card, this gives you the Samurai menu - which would have been €28 each if we were paying. The food was absolutely amazing and we would have paid that with no questions asked... It may be worth looking at one of the packages though to get the Butcher Cut and Cirque?

Thanks so much for your speedy response. Alas no cirque for us as we will be on Seaside but you've sold me on Teppan Yaki and I will look at our prepaid options in more details now. Thanks again.

  5. So last year on our Med cruise my eldest child was 11 but looks 14 and would be quite mature. She really didn't want to be in the kids club with her younger brother as she had last year. She knew what to expect and was too old for a lot of the activities.

I met a lovely kids club leader at check in and she allowed Jem to join the 12-14 year olds club. She did have to ok it with the leader who ran the 12-14 group but it was no problem.

She had a ball with kids who were more likeminded.

    Hope this helps.

  6. I'm thinking we'll do an escape room or the science museum and just wander about soaking up the atmosphere with a mandatory stop for Cuban food in Little Havana.

We've had a look at a couple of hotels and I'm just awaiting the availability to open up more as we are a little early. Some very nice looking options 😊

I think we'll opt for Aventura Mall, plenty there to suit us all.

Thanks again for your help. No doubt I'll be back with further newbie questions.

  7. We've cruised the Med with MSC the last 2 years and I must say we loved the diversity.

Announcements and activity information were relayed in a few languages but it wasn't something that got to being an inconvenience. My children (8/11) had no problem settling in to the kids club and making friends. They picked up a couple of Italian words on board and enjoyed meeting other children from Italy, France, Australia and Holland.

I wouldn't see the ship being very Italian as a negative point. It felt stylish, fun, relaxed and diverse.

    Generally;

The cabins on Splendida and Fantasia (B2/B3) were of a great size, we never felt confined or that it was of a lesser standard because of the lesser price.

What stands out looking back on both cruises was the cleanliness - we found all areas of the ships to be immaculate. And also the friendliness of the staff on-board. The only exception being a narky member of the medical centre staff but we all have off days!

We rathered dining in the MDR over the buffet as we found those meals to be of a higher quality.

  8. Hi Kizz,

I would definitely go with 12202 or 12207...they have sheltered balconies which will allow you to use the balcony while the ship is under way.

Do you think forward facing whirlpool balconies are going to be a big disadvantage as regards winds?

Ideally I'd have preferred deck 12 or higher from the start but was unsure whether forward or rear would be best.

  9. I look at deck plans & see what is below & above me. Generally the higher the better but I'm in an Aurea suite on Meraviglia & we are just under the bridge. I wouldn't have chose this cabin myself as I'm pretty certain, it will be completely in the shade but it was the last Aurea cabin left on that cruise date & at the time, I had to book that cruise! So again study the deck plans!

I've had a look and currently staying on deck 9 we would have a yoga area underneath us and are forward facing. I know it's all pie in the sky until it's further along in the building process but I'm still thinking we may be better being situated on a higher deck.

  10. Good morning,

We currently have cabin 9071 (Aurea with whirlpool) booked but have the option to change to 10075, 12202 or 12207.

The reason I had enquired about changing was I was debating if we would be in a noisy location on deck 9 and whether the view would be nicer from the higher decks.

Thanks for any advice or insight.

  11. Hello Miami experts!

I'm going to preface any questions by appealing for compassion! I've never been to the US, let alone Florida so I'm a total newbie and welcome any guidance and ask you to bare with me because it's all a big learning curve.

We are cruising out of Miami on MSC Seaside next summer and I'm looking for recommendations for areas to look at or any hotels/apartments you've found to be good. I'm finding the info to be hard to wade through online and would love some personal opinions.

I can't figure what area in Miami would be best for us. We will have 2 days pre cruise to explore and are 3 adults and 2 kids so ideally an area that has some shopping / choices for dining in fairly close proximity. We don't mind doing apartment style accommodation but ideally I think we'd opt for a good 4/5 star and book 2 rooms.

I'm also looking for ideas for fun things to do with the kids. They will be 12 and 9 and loves theme parks and sightseeing so any ideas for fun days out are very much appreciated. There's only so many shops I can drag them round!

And finally on that topic, what are the main shopping malls (best IYO) please?

    Thanks in advance.
