  1. We cruise on Monday, January 10th, which would mean we would test on Saturday.  We'll be flying on Saturday, so can't test at home.  I guess I can see if we can get a test appt in Long Beach on the Saturday afternoon with Walgreens or CVS.  I noticed it said unvaccinated passengers could test 3 days ahead, then I could do it on the Friday before I left.  Does anyone know if Carnival will accept a Covid test for vaccinated passengers from 3 days in advance?

Defiantly would not  pay extra for the premium side view one. You will not have a good view of the AFT/Havana Area of the ship and to be honest, the balcony may appear bigger, but it is very narrow.

Now, if you are considering the actual Aft Wrap...  That is worth serious consideration 🙂

Can you explain to me the difference?  I just booked a Premium Vista Room (7422) on the Carnival Radiance - it is supposed to wrap around.  I'm hoping it's worth the extra $425.

Thanks to everyone for your input - looking forward to the amazing Alaska and ocean views from our Costa del Sol family retreat next July!

Unfortunately, obviously didn’t get our Eurodam cruise to Alaska. We’ve booked for next July (fingers crossed) and have reserved the Capri family retreat cabana.

  4. My husband and I along with two friends are scheduled on the Eurodam out of Seattle on July 4.  Not feeling confident this will be resolved by then.  Don't know whether we should pay our balance or just cancel.  We already have money tied up in a Disney Cruise we were supposed to be on yesterday and rescheduled till next March.  I hate to tie up another $4K for something that isn't going to happen this year.  We need to make a decision soon as the balance is due next week.  Based on vacations for next year, I can't add any more vacation time to the year, so if we needed to reschedule in less than 2 years, might not be able to do it.  Still holding tight right now.

  5. I know this is an older post and doesn't help the person originally asking the question, but I want to share this.  We are going on the Eurodam to Alaska in July 2020 because of the itinerary - going to Sitka and Icy Strait Point, which we've never done before.  But, if we wanted to head to Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan again I'd select Celebrity Solstice - mainly because of their enrichment activities.  They had Brent Nixon and Miss Amanda (found out they were married) who provided the most fantastic talks on Alaska, its wild life, its cities, etc.  They were phenomenal!  I've never seen or heard any enrichment speakers on a cruise ship like them before.  They are fantastic!

  6. GrammieK, since you've used the Cabanas before, I was wondering if I could ask you a couple of questions.  I'm trying to get the feel for where they are located.  Are the cabanas located so that we are looking off the back of the ship or would they be facing forward?  Also, is there any difference or advantage to which side you are on?  We have reserved the Costa del Sol on the Starboard side.  I believe we are allowed in our Cabana basically anytime, but service is only available certain times of the day, correct? I was hoping we might be able to see Fireworks from our Cabana as we sail through the San Juans on the 4th of July (my birthday)! Thanks so much!

  7. GrammieK, I also hope they will be open.  We leave July 4 - how about you?  I'm hoping with a July sailing date we might hit some good weather, but being from Washington, I know you can't count on July for good weather.  I can endure the cool as long as they don't close them down.  By the way, do you know if you get any money back if they shut them down for a full day or more?

  8. I know this discussion is older, but I have a question regarding retreat cabanas to Alaska.  We have a family cabana scheduled for our trip to Alaska in early July 2020.  I noticed someone above mentioning getting two lido cabanas and opening the curtain between them as they might be warmer.  Anyone have thoughts on that?  I don't know how the view would be from that area versus the Retreat Cabanas - we've reserved the Costa del Sol (Starboard side).  I'm guessing it doesn't matter which side you're on as you'll be port side at least on one half of your voyage and the ship usually does some spins when viewing the glaciers?  Thanks for your help - this will be our 3rd cruise to Alaska - but never on Holland and we are very excited.   Also - I'd be super interested in hearing about anyone's Alaska Retreat Cabana experiences.

  9. BirthdayGirl30 - did you end up enjoying having the cabana on your Alaskan Cruise?  We are going on the Eurodam next July (2020) and have already booked the Costa del Sol family cabana, but was worried a bit about weather (although we do hail from the Pacific Northwest).  Also - I'm wondering if I should book the Capri on the port side.  Does anyone have suggestions on that?

  10. Thanks CruiserBruce.  We are doing a Disney Cruise with our daughter's family the following month after this cruise in the Eastern Caribbean (the cabanas would probably come in handy on that cruise, but not available).  To help keep costs down we did inside rooms on both.  I thought having the Cabana during the day would be nice since we don't have that sea option in our room.  It would be about $1,000 cheaper to have an  inside room and family cabana as compared to getting a balcony this time around.  We were also hoping that July (fingers crossed) would be a little bit better weather.  We'll have to think about this one some more.

  11. Thanks OneCruiser - I apparently hadn't read every post. The last time I read comments it sounded like the increased price hadn't been rolled out to every ship. Seems a bit pricey for the ship - our local Johnny Rockets isn't much different. I realize it's "all you can eat," but I'm not going to have more than one burger. I understand the buffet has burgers, but assuming those are steam tray. Guess I'll have to see how much I crave a burger:)

  12. Sorry, if someone already mentioned this - I was trying to make my way through the whole thread and didn't quite do it yet. We are on Explorer of the Seas in September. Does anyone know if they have upped the price at JR to $9.95 there, as well? I know it's a cover charge and you can order as much as you want, but I won't get more than 1 burger and some fries. But, if I'm really craving it, I'll probably go for it.

  13. My husband and I, along with 3 other couples, will be on Explorer of the Seas for one of the trips from Seattle to San Francisco and back. When we went on our Alaska Celebrity cruise last year one of the best things about it was the enrichment lectures. They were awesome! Does anyone know if Explorer of the Seas does this and what type of speakers they have? Thanks!

  14. I thought Royal assigned the restaurant you could eat on the FNDR, so that makes me hesitant. I wouldn't want to be assigned Izumi as I don't eat shellfish and not a fan of Sushi. I'm guessing they would allow you to move to Giovannis? Sounds like maybe Chops wouldn't be an option. We are going on Explorer in September on the Pacific Coastal tour. Thanks!
