  1. I have two cruises booked as a solo and someone has expressed interest in joining me.

Is it possible to add an additional passenger to an existing booking? If so would the price for each of us be half of what i am currently due to pay or would both our prices be the current price.

It doesn't matter much with the second booking but the first would be a matter of thousands as i booked the cruise very early and it is almost sold out.

    Thanks for any advice.

  2. The buffet will have a mix of eastern and western cuisine as will the main dining room.  I noticed that the portion sizes were smaller in the main dining room.

When booking excursions you will see the same excursion listed twice one for English speakers and one for Japanese speakers.  Just make sure you book the right one.

  3. Pro: dark, quiet, cheap

    Con:dark, smaller than balcony.

When I travel solo I always get an inside room. I don't spend much time in there and when I do it is night and the dark is a good thing. I'd rather spend the money on excursions or souvenirs instead.

But it is all personal preference.

  4. My roll call has booked a tour called Bangkok highlights through Travelhub. It is a really good tour that includes lunch and a boat ride as well as visiting the main temples. They pick up from the cruise dock. Have a look at them.

  5. Hey . Booked a new cruise yesterday and was suprised when after i chose my room that there is now an option to say whether you are ok to be upgraded or not. Is this new?

i booked online just for clarification.

  6. You might note that the OP said Barcelona to Rome. I doubt that cruise will be operated out of Australia. Helps the OP if you answer what they asked.

I was just clarifying the comment that implied to me anyway, that all the Princess' ships run on usd. People other than the OP read these threads as well.

  7. Everything on the ship is in us$. It doesn’t change as it sails around

    Not quite.

Cruises in Australia/New Zealand and the Pacific islands out of Australia run with Australian dollar as the currency on the ship.

  8. Looks good so far. Would suggest the cable car from mount faber to vivo city for incredible views. There's also a beautiful walking trail at mount faber. Another possibility is visiting the Merlion and take a water tour of the city. There are two companies that offer them. One in a modern boat and one in the old-fashioned type boat.

It sounds like you may be on my cruise. Feb 15th sapphire princess. If so i suggest you join the roll call. Emma

  9. There is a shuttle in Brisbane Australia but there is a small fee attached to its use. I can't remember how much sorry. Melbourne the easiest option is to use the public tram which has a stop right outside the port. Sydney if you are at the main dock you are right in the city so you dont need one. Same with Auckland nz the port is right in the city.

  10. I can only speak to Kyoto but it my opinion it ia a full day trip. I would grab a high speed train from osaka(where I assume you will dock into.) Then grab a full day bus pass and use that to get around. The bus was great very easy to use and had good frequency. I would recommend Kyoto imperial palace and nijo castle. Which are in the middle of town and the golden pavilion. If you have time head down to fushimi inari shrine which is right next to the fushimi train station.

  11. If i am on a ship running on usd and I want to have a cash account do i have to give them usd or would they accept aud?

Im thinking so , so I will need to get usd from the bank before I leave.

    Any thoughts.

  12. Uh oh. I think the power cord we've brought with us in the past in surge-protected type. What is the reason for the prohibition?

Surge protectors are a fire risk on ships due to the difference between ship and residential electricity systems.

  13. Thats good to know!

I do love the idea of formal nights as we own formal wear (from the Mardi Gras region of the US ) But I also very much prefer to have romantic 2 person dinners since we will be on our anniversary cruise.

If you are having a balcony cabin then consider doing the balcony dinner for two for about a hundred dollars extra. They will bring tablecloth cutlery three course dinner you can someewhat customise and a bottle of wine and flowers. It would be verry romantic.

  14. Hey. does anyone know the current usd to aud exchange rate princess offers. I am trying to see how best to pay for my shore excursions so want to know how much they would be in aud. Thanks.

  15. You could do the ship post cruise tour then either check your luggage or drop your luggage off at the luggage storage at narita. Then catch the train from narita airport to the narita town stop. There are restaurants stores and a very nice temple and garden within easy walking distance.i am thinking of doing this in October .

  16. Hi just a quick question. i don't have a credit card and don't really want to get one but am worried about the holds on my debit account. I'm wondering if you buy obc do they only start doing the holds once you have used it up? Thanks
