  1. Yes Princess has a transfer from the dock to the airport in Melbourne. I used it earlier this year. It cost $25 if i remember correctly. We got a flyer in our room a couple of days before the end of the cruise and we filled it out and dropped it off at passenger services. I think the cost was charged to your shipboard account. It worked great for us and we would use it again. Especially as there was a car accident on the highway and a taxi would have been very expensive.

  2. It's my understanding that after the May 2017 repositioning cruise The Majestic Princess cruises will only be offered to the Asian market We here in North America will not be able to book. Not sure about your neck of the woods.

Just wondering where this was announced? Also do you know when the Asian schedule for the end of 2017 will be announced?

  3. The benefits of a drink package which can be bought on board using your obc is you have a fixed cost. You don't have to keep track of your drinks all the time. I personally don't get the aibp as i don't drink alcohol so it wouldn't be practical for me. I do buy the soda and more package which i make a killing on. It is $7 a day so I just need to drink two mocktails and I have already made my money and every other drink is a bonus. Also if i am buying a drink for myself and someone else (using separate cruise cards) the waiters often won't bother charging for the other drink.

  4. The package is for the entire cruise only. It includes all soft drinks, juices, mocktails, milkshakes(on the ships that offer them), and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate can be bought at the same places you get coffee. You can get drinks at any bar and restaurant on the ship.

  5. Couple in stateroom. We are 1st time cruisers on Princess. The All Inc BevPkg is available for both. What if only one takes it? Can it be shared? How does that work? I find it difficult to believe it can - how about sharing with an extended group??

Obviously a no-no. So what are the practicalities?

Everyone in a cabin can choose to buy any beverage package or none. Each package is per person and can not be shared. There are two beverages packages the aibp which includes all drinks under $ 10. The only exception to this is if you buy a bottle of wine which you get a 40% discount on you can share the bottle with anyone else. There is also the soda and more package which includes all soft drinks, hot chocolate, juice and mocktails. You can also buy a coffee card which gets punched each time you use it and if you don't use all the punches on it can be kept and used on the next cruise.

  6. Depending on the size of your ship you will be berthed at either Hamilton wharf or closer to mouth of the brisbane river. Most ships dock at the first one. If you are flying in to brisbane the airport is only about 10 mins max from the cruise ship dock. I recommend staying at one of the many hotels in the city. You can get to the cbd either by taxi or more cheaply by catching the airtrain. There is a train line which runs directly from the airport into the city. You can buy tickets at a self service kiosk at the platform. Depending on how long you will be in brisbane it may be convenient to buy a travel card from a newsagent with credit on it so you can just tap on and off all the public transportation in brisbane. Southbank in the cbd is a must see there are lots of restaurants a walkway along the river a obversation wheel etc. A ferry ride up and down the river is a good way to spend part of a day. If you are wanting a good view of brisbane a trip to mt cootha is worth a visit. At the bottom is a botanical garden and a planetarium up at the summi is a lookout point with a cafe. If you a an active person there are some really nice walks on the mountain. If you are interested in seeing some aussie wildlife there is also lone pine koala sanctuary a small zoo with native animals. You can get to both places on a bus from the city. You can go on the transinfo website to plan your journey. Hope you have a great time.
