  1. Please DO NOT park you scooter or wheelchair in the hallway. It creates a hazard and obstacle for those trying to traverse the same said hallway. I remember having to move scooters, Stewards carts, and even room service dishes left in the hall so that my wife could safely get past them. If there were an emergency and or if I wasn't with her there could be a big hassle. On top of the above rant, it is against the SOLAS (Safety Of Life At Sea) regulations to block a hallway in any manner. Thank you.

I wish Cruise lines would made more than 1% of cabins accessible.

  2. Our first cruise was on the Costa Riviera (pre-Carnival). I won this as a prize for my store, retail electronic, making quota for December and January. This was a 7 night, all expenses paid in April of 1987. Adequate inside stateroom on the lowest deck, beds welded to the walls. There were "hair-drying" rooms in the passenger decks as the electrical system couldn't handle hair dryers. [ours was up one deck] It went ok but we were on a ship with company folks who were different degrees of jerkiness. Fast forward to 2001. Our son who was 5 months old for the first cruise, he stayed with his Aunt and Uncle then, was now 14. We thought that we should give it another shot and booked a 4 night from NYC to Halifax. It was really nice. My DS & BIL were going on a Southern Caribbean out of Santo Domingo. My DW had just started to use a scooter for mobility so we thought it would work fine. After we got a proper cabin for the scooter. We fell in love. After that we tended to cruise two, or three, times a year.

We stayed at hilton marina in january.  We stayed on high floor in executive tower with a balcony.  Nice room. Great view.   The lobby is a very noisy very busy place and the fact they didnt have lounge for hilton gold members was disappointing.

We had dinner at their outside bar / restaurant because it was convenient.  Had a nice lobster roll.  Restaurant for dinner was ok but there are others places in area we like better.

The free portion of the breakfast buffet had a good selection of danishes muffins breads etc. I think we paid 6.95 to upgrade to hot breakfast with omelet station.  Good coffee too

    Do they offer "Cuban Coffee"?

On my sailing out of Baltimore, I traveled from North Jersey the day prior for stress free travel.

Sunday traffic on the NJTP at that time will be light, the Garden State Parkway might have some traffic due to shore weekenders returning. Have an alternate route on the unlikely event that the NJTP has problems that day. Once you cross the Delaware Memorial Bridge 295 runs parallel with the NJTP for about 30 miles.

We used to live in Pittsburgh and took the 6 hour drive many times to Bayonne. We made sure we left no later than 5:30am and had no issues at all making the ship before noon. Remember there maybe issues with traffic and even your vehicle although we, knock on wood, never had any. (other than "numb bum: from the drive)

  5. Hello Bill. Long time, no read (my fault not yours) I'm headed to ape Liberty in less than a month and usually stay in Elizabeth on International Drive. This time I'm going to try the Hampton Inn Airport. I have no need to exit the hotel until it's time to head to the ship so.  I'll keep you folks posted.

I haven't heard anything.  In this case no news is bad news.  For the winter RCL really needs to provide a post cruise waiting area that is sheltered from the elements.  It will be a HUGH dissatisfier if any disembarkations happen in super cold weather or a snowstorm.

Carol, I will be on Anthem in late January, along with some mutual friends. If you remind me I'll comment on what I see in this regard. I will, however, be driving as I am visiting Pittsburgh the week before, so I hope to be able to check it out when we board, In which case I can answer then.

  7. I have concerns about the "ugly white box" for chargers. I don't know about you, but chargers I use make a fair amount of heat. There have been stories about people getting burned, or setting bedclothes on fire while charging a phone overnight. If I have to use this box I will do my best to keep it open and NOT have anything plugged in any longer than required. And simply unplugging your device won't stop the generation of heat, you must unplug the charging module from line power. I have no idea why the designers thought this was a good design idea.

  8. I have a Zippo lighter that I bought a butane insert for. I'm emotionally attached to it so I don't want some TSA agent confiscating it. Usually I buy a Bic lighter to take with me. I also carry a "V" cutter and a straight cutter. Depending on the cigar I want to be prepared. And don't ever hesitate to ask a fellow smoker for a light. The cigar code states that you should never refuse!!!

The cigar lounge on Freedom is great. It was on a Caribbean cruise out of Miami that we started the F.O.T.S.C.S.L.S.S. (Freedom of the Seas Cigar Smoking and Liquor Sipping Society) Our Grand Poo-bah is Ken, screen name Medicken. If you should ever run into him you're in for a real treat. Tell him that Elvis sends his regards!

    Elvis

Elvis, my friend, I appreciate your loyalty and hear-by elevate you to Deputy Grand Poobah of the F.O.T.S.C.S.L.S.S. with all associated privileges and powers of The Grand Poobah, in his absence.

BTW, next cruise is on Oasis of the Seas Oct and Celebrity Edge in Jan of 2019. I would be honored to have any, and all Cigar Smokers join me in the informal meetings of the Society held on those fine vessels.

On a personal note, My best to you and Priscilla. I will be headed, for permanent relocation, to Atlanta next week.

  9. Consider renting a scooter from special needs at sea maybe...and ask for wheelchair assistance when you get dropoed off.

You can ask for wheelchair assistance to board the ship at Cape Liberty and to disembark when you return. While you are on the ship you would need to make arrangements to rent a scooter via Special Needs at Sea, or Care Vacations. If you do that you would also need an accessible cabin. If you rent a wheelchair no accessible cabin is required however.

For more information on this contact the Special Needs department of Celebrity and they can assist you.

  10. I think you should consider a "brick and mortar" travel agent for your first cruise. There are many questions they can answer quickly. Some onboard suggestions; take smaller bills ($1, 5's) as locals don't have change in USD. and if you wish to tip, a dollar can go a long way onboard. Don't try to see & do everything on the ship as you will run out of time and energy, save it for your next cruise. As far as possible motion sickness. There are many remedies, I prefer to use ginger. Any method of taking it will be fine, as long as it isn't "fake" ginger. We carried capsules, some use Ginger Altoids or ginger-ale. Medications have to be taken ahead of time and can make you drowsy. Ginger can be taken even after symptoms arise. Crew will also tell you to eat green apples and saltines. This can work as well. As the Navy has quoted for years, "Fair Winds and Following Seas"
