  1. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although we have learned to like Grandeur a lot, it is probably the LEAST handicapped friendly ship in the fleet. If you need an accessible cabin please be aware that you will need to request a toilet seat enhancer as the commodes are all 15". The beds are also quite low but they have a wonderful "jack" system to raise them. The Crew and Staff are among the best though and she is in great shape for one of the older girls in the fleet.

As for an new ship in Baltimore, Vision class is the largest that can fit under the bridges. There was some scuttlebutt about a cruise port near the Solomon Island are but if it does happen it will be many many years down the road.

  3. We have two junior suites next to each other but I dont think we have a door between...can we open our deck divider?

Ask your room Steward when you arrive. It's probably best if one from each cabin be there when you do. Assuming the divider can be opened, don't be alarmed if they deny your request. They may site company policy as a reason or some other such issue for not doing it.

  4. Like a above post, I have printed the tags and laminated them with packing tape. But, unlike the post, I punch a hole, with some difficulty, in the tag and hold it on with small zip ties. I simply cut the hole I punched on one side of the tag and slip it off. No Muss, No Fuss and I have never lost one yet. This is over approx. 10 cruises.

  5. We remove things too. We place them in the cabinet flanking the vanity. We do leave a post-in on the mirror for the bar staff whose job it is to restock. If you are asking about the freezer for ice all you need do is ask your steward and you will have an insulated ice bucket that is filled twice a day.

    • Yes. Search Care Vacations or Special Needs at Sea. These are the two companies 99% of the cruise lines authorize to rent equipment for cruising. The walker, once you rent it, will be in your cabin and you will leave it there at the end of your cruise. If you need assistance to board, or leave, the ship call the Special Needs department of the cruise line and arrange for dockside wheelchair assistance.
  6. They have parking spots close to the terminal marked as H/C and they are available first come, first served. That being said, I drop off the DW and her scooter and return to be with her after I park, in an H/C spot.

    The short answer, YES.

  7. Another consideration is being denied the use of any insurance at a destination and having to pay up front for care. My wife had some issues and we were advised to leave the cruise and seek treatment for a mis-diagnosed illness. All care had to be paid for up front with cash or credit card. Thankfully we have a nice limit on our card, I would hate to think of those who don't. When we got home we were reimbursed for all costs for medical care by our health insurance, minus the deductible of course, and all other expenses were taken care of by our travel insurance.

Although we don't buy the Cruise line insurance we NEVER travel without it.

  8. Something I've never understood -- why do people work so hard at hiding in order to skip the drill? It's not like there is anything else to do during that time.

AND the longer they delay the longer the drill. If everyone would just show up on time it could be over and done with that much quicker.

  9. Your sister should try to enroll him now by logging in to My Cruises on the RCL site and under her information on the left select "Enroll Other Members Of Your Household". Months ago I enrolled my husband, who is also going on his first RCL cruise next week, and he now is a D+.

Glad you finally got him on a ship Carol. Watch out he may get bitten by the cruise bug like the rest of us.
