  1. Hmmm, Carnival followed their published rules. Cruiser all PO'd because they didn't read through their boarding information and tries to stir up sympathy to their "I'll never sail CCL again claim".

    Bye, Felecia!

    Wasn't "all PO'd because [we] didn't read" the contract. Agree, careful examination of the contract could have prevented this. Mia culpa.

    Wasn't trying to "stir up sympathy" . . . Was simply trying to inform others, so they wouldn't have to 'learn the hard way', as we did.

    "I'll never sail CCL again" wasn't a claim. It's a promise.

    We gave Carnival a try, found that (for a number of reasons) it isn't a good fit. For those out there who do like it, great. I am honestly happy for you. Vive la difference!

  2. As most of you out there are aware, you can bring two (750ml) bottles of wine onboard, per cabin.

    If you intend to do so, make sure you have them in your carry-on(s). We put two bottles, suitably padded, in a suitcase, which we dropped with the curbside stevedore.

    While we were among the first onboard (11:00 am), by sail away (4:00 pm) the bag had not arrived. By early evening (7:00 pm), the bag was still missing.

    Checked with our steward. He suggested checking with Guest Services. Bingo! They had the bag, but were holding it because the scanner showed two bottles inside. Laughing, I understood. They needed to determine that it was our two bottles of wine and nod liquor being smuggled aboard.

    OK. Opened the bag. Showed them that it was wine and not liquor. They then informed us that the wine was confiscated!

    Us - "Huh :confused: "

    Security - "We have to seize it. If you had carried it on, that would have bee allowed. But, because it was in a checked bag, it has to be seized :mad:"

    Us - "Uh, OK. But we'll get it back at the end of the cruise, right :confused: "

    Security - "No. It is forfeit. You don't get it back :mad:"

    Bottom Line? Over two bottle s of mediocre wine, Carnival lost two cruisers. We have NEVER experienced this with any other cruise line, including Holland America, Princess, Costa and Cunard (all Carnival Corporation subsidiaries)!

  3. Give an "across the board" compementary OBC (applies to ALL purchases through RCI - cruise, air2sea, insurance, gratuties, food and drink packages, $pecialty re$taurant$, shorex, photos, etc.).

    1% - Gold

    2% - Platinum

    3% - Emerald

    4% - Diamond

    5% - Diamond Plus

    6% - Pinnacle

    In addition to earning 1 point per sailing night (double points for a suite), give double points for a single supplement;

    1 point for every $300 in onboard charges (minus comped OBC).;

    1 point for a B2B.

    1 point for every 7 night cruise a new referral. 2 points if they book a suite. i.e. - you refer another couple, and they complete a 14 day cruise - you get 4 points (8, if they booked a suite)

    So, you and your spouse/partner book a suite, on an 7-day, with a B2B 7-day. You're both already Emerald. Your on-board purchases total $1803.40 for the first segment and $2272.67 for the second. You also referred another couple, who join you for the second segment and bring their two kidlets along. They're booked into an ocean view quad.

    End of first segment, you each earn:

    14 points (7-day suite)

    5 points ($1803.40 - 3% emerald discount = $1749.30/$300 = 5.83 points, rounded down to 5 points)

    End of second segment, you earn:

    1 point (B2B bonus);

    14 points (7-day suite)

    7 points ($2272.67 - 3% emerald discount = $2204.49/$300 = 7.34 points, rounded down to 7 points)

    2 points - referral of two people who completed a 7-day (3rd/4th in a cabin don't count)

    Total = 43 points each.

  4. When the ship is travelling in the opposite direction, with the East Coast and West Coast atriums switch place?

    Not normally. However, we may have to execute this option when crossing the Equator. In addition, depending on the traffic regulations of the various Ports-of-Call, bumper car traffic will switch from driving on the right to driving on the left. Thus, the need for bumper cars. :eek:

  5. Yes. If you enlarge the sample deck plan, there are four (4) Panoramic Grand Suites on each deck for both the Grand Canyon and the Amazon Basin. Forward, aft, port and starboard. :)

    I stand corrected.

    There are two Grand Panoramic Suites for each atrium (East Coast, West Coast, Central Park, the Galleria, Plaza, Amazon Basin and Grand Canyon).

    In addition, Amazon Basin and Grand Canyon have two Junior Panoramic Suites .

    Aft, there are four Grand and four Junior Aqua Suites per deck.

    The Kracken Pen is, naturally, below decks, in the central swath propulsion unit (next to the brig). We had to put it there as the sponson units hold the docking stations for the submarines.

    There are two planetariums. Unfortunately, they are available only to the two Cloud Loft Suites, being on their third levels.

    Curfews for teens and pre-teens will be adjusted for which time zone their stateroom is in. Violators will be collected and transferred to the Brig. Parents and Guardians, PLEASE pick them up during your debarkation. . .

    The private helicopter LZ (for the Cloud Suites) is located immediately between the stacks.

    Sorry, but, after extensive beta testing, Shamu will not :mad: be on board. He kept eating all the salmon, leaving insufficient quantities for the Main Dining Rooms!

    The 60 Central elevators will, indeed, have way-points, every ten decks. The 24 Sponson elevators will have way-points every 15 decks. We found that pre-teens were getting on and pushing all the buttons - causing passengers to be unable to reach their staterooms in time for debarkation at the end of the sailing (By the way, we're still looking for Mr and Mrs Highpoint, from Boise, Idaho). Note - Cloud suites will have private elevators with uninterrupted access to ALL decks. Locations are not shown on the deck plans, for security reasons.

    Sorry Theresa, but the Wonkavators are out. The moving sidewalks have replaced them (three lanes - Stand to the right, Walk in the center, Scooters on the left).

    Good news - Due to high demand, we have added a second Ferris-Wheel. They will be side by side, with one in the East Coast and one in the West Coast atriums. Rotating in opposing directions, of course.

  6. Please tell me there will be Grand Canyon Panoramic View Rooms. Especially if there will be a waterfall in the Grand Canyon.

    Then I'm torn about booking the Cloud Loft Suite or Grand Canyon Panoramic

    Are the rumors true, Galaxy class will have the first Sea World at Sea, home of Shamu Junior?

    Yes. If you enlarge the sample deck plan, there are four (4) Panoramic Grand Suites on each deck for both the Grand Canyon and the Amazon Basin. Forward, aft, port and starboard. :)

  7. The most recent broadside view is in my signature, below . . .

    OK. They've added the Ferris-Wheel and the Deck 30 - Cloud Loft Suites (up on the forward side of each of the stacks).

    Imagine the view from your private balcony, 400' above the sea! If you're in one of the two-level Cloud Suites, you have a full-time concierge/butler, upstairs and downstairs maids, a valet and a ladies' maid. You'll also have your own tender, so there's no delays for the ship's 'most important passengers'! The suites do have to share a "steel-beach" (pool, sunning area and pool-side bar & grill), however, each does have a completely "private" sunbathing area on their third level (roof).

    Yes, the Ferris-Wheel does encircle the forward Viking Crown! Each gondola accommodates up to 20 and, at the apex, reaches 512' above the sea. With 20 minutes per circuit, you'll have plenty of time for wonderment.

    In the evenings, gondolas convert to private dining rooms seating 12, for the ultimate specialty dining experience. Board your car for cocktails. As you make your first circuit, your waiter and sommelier assist with developing the perfect paring for each course and your order is called in. As you pass through the lower level, your assistant waiter delivers the first course. The second time by, the second course; etc.

    She's nearly 550' abeam (250' with each sponson at 120') and, with a tri-hull swath design, she's extremely stable and capable of speeds up to 50 knots!
