If you had insurance, wouldn't you also be able to submit a claim to travel insurance as well? Would you get both the FCC and the payment from your travel ins.?

We had insurance but never filed because I was assured I would get the FCC.  It did take a few months for them to review the documents I sent in but I eventually got the FCC.  I believe the insurance company would want proof from Carnival that we didn't get FCC and had a monetary loss so we didn't pursue the insurance angle.

This type of stuff will ensure they sew up any leeway. Technically a great idea but poor in spirit, they will shut the no-show down if folks abuse it and double-dip. Probably better to not broadcast this type of angle. Pretty genius though, I'll give you that! 😁

Well at Xmas time the phone lines were jam packed and you couldn't get through to anyone knowledgable.  I don't know if my PVP was on vacation or just busy but I couldn't get a hold of him either.  Also back then you had to get a test two days prior to cruising and I was trying to get the other PAX to retest.

  3. Had this happen at Xmas time.  This is what we did because we didn’t want to pay the single supplement fair.  No show like everyone mentioned but while on the ship getting ready to sail I shot off a email message to my PVP with the positive test info asking what to do.  Let him know I was on the cruise and didn’t have email access for the week.  Didn’t have to pay the single supplement and got FCC.  I wanted a paper trail that I contacted carnival prior to the ship sailing.  It took a few months but I eventually got he FCC for the cruiser.

  4. I never stayed in one of those cabins but my brother in law and sister in law stayed in those cabins.  The only issue I would have is being close to the elevator.  I know when I am at the elevator area I tend to talk to whoever I am with.  I am sure other people elevate their voice thinking they are away from the cabin areas.  So I personally would ask to be moved down the hall at least a room or two away from the elevator.

Guess it will depend on the number of connecting cabins both available and needed. Assuming all cabins were linked for dining. They'd have to give the kids 2 cabins if they can not accommodate them in a 5 pax cabin. Each of the adult cabins could have a connecting cabin which would meet your needs.

We had a Lido interior and an upper/lower on deck 5 or 6 when they switched us from Horizon to Sunshine on 12/26. They gave us 2 adjacent interiors on deck 2. We lost a Lido cabin but got a king bed in the other cabin.

Thanks thats makes a lot of sense.  I just noticed that they put 3 empty room between the two sets of parents.  So I assume they are going to try and figure out a way to put 5 kids in 2 of those 3 rooms so they meet the Carnival requirements of someone 12 and under next to the parents and the other kids within 3 rooms.

We were wondering the same thing?   We have been curious about onboard capacity?

According to Heald the cruise out of Long Beach sailed with 1977 PAX this weekend .  According to Wikipedia the Carnival Miracle has a capacity of 2124 pax based on double occupancy. 1977/2124 = 93%.

We sailed on a Channukah cruise in Dec at right around 90%.  The ship felt full but not crowded.  Didn't have to wait in line very long except for the Deli.

  7. So the Carnival Elation got replaced with the Carnival Freedom for our June cruise out of Port Canaveral.  Sailing with my sister and her family is our family.  We had two rooms for the adults and a connecting room with 5 kids in one room (all inside cabins).  On the Fantasy class ships they allowed 5 in a inside room.  From what I can tell the Carnival Freedom doesn't accommodate 5 passengers for a inside room.
What will Carnival do in this situation.  The kids room is currently listed as TBA.

Thanks for any insight anyone can offer in this situation.

  8. I am currently typing this using the Wi-Fi hotspot off of my pixel 3.  I have airplane mode on and the hotspot enabled so I can use my iPad.  My wife connects her iPhone to it and is able to surf the web while I am on cruise critic.

I didn't know about the hot spot trick. The internet always made me log off of it on one device before letting me use it on another.

The internet is only connected to my phone then I use the hotspot to transmit it to other devices.  I do it all the time for my son because his phone is a tracfone with limited data.

  10. I purchased a spa treatment for my wife but put my name in there by mistake.  I assume it won't be a problem when I get onboard as long as I am there to explain it at the spa.  I am sure a little cash tip won't hurt.    Worst case scenario is that I am getting a mani pedi.

  11. Internet packages work in the room.  I just put the internet on my phone and used it as a hot spot and the whole family was able to utilize the connection.  Obviously its faster before 9am.  I sent all the kids into the libary with my phone before 9am and they were able to all download games to each device.  I don't know if the libary provides a faster connection or not but I noticed some people working on their laptops in there the day before.

BTW this was on last weeks Glory sailing out of NOLA.

We were on the same cruise.  I didn't even notice a performer missing - guess I was enjoying the shows too much!  Interesting.......... Yes - the Saturday evening "holiday show" was cancelled.  Announcement made in the theater said due to technical difficulties, but obviously could be a cover.  I told my husband yesterday that we apparently sailed during a good week with everything turning bad again.  I hope you and your enjoyed this cruise as much as we did - we were just so thankful to be back!

I went to the welcome aboard show and they had 4 females and 4 males singing and dancing.  The next shows I attended only 3 females and 4 males.  The playlist performers never skipped a beat.

We had a great time on the Dec 19th cruise and will be back on for the January 2nd sailing.
