  1. My daughter got a PCR test as soon as she tested positive. It was 7 days before our cruise and we had to cancel. HAL was great and rebooked us on the same cruise 4 weeks later. She did lose her airfare. With the PCR test she was able to obtain a proof of recovery document. It is our understanding that presenting the positive test and the proof of recovery document is what you have to do but I'm not sure if you have enough time.
  2. Does anyone know it Tamarind is open for Lunch and is there a lunch menu somewhere?
  3. Well, you really hit a weak spot for me as my knowledge of electricity is limited to the vibrating molecules that I was told about in school many eons ago. How it gets to the light switch on the wall is a major mystery, so I'm really thankful for your comments. The large concentrator will be plugged into the wall at night only. I can probably recharge the portable some during the day as I am using it about the ship but not on excursions. We can rotate the two phones and the I pad. The last thing I want to do is overload the system.
  4. Unfortunately, it's out of stock but there are several similar.
  5. The full size one has to be ordered from one of two companies approved by HAL. You can bring your own portable or rent one of those as well.
  6. Thank you all for your helpful comments. I will certainly check with the cruise line (Princess) but it sounds like they are walker friendly.
  7. On our upcoming cruise we will need power for an oxygen concentrator, power to recharge portable concentrator batteries, power to charge an I pad and to charge two cell phones. I found a power bar with no surge protector on Amazon that would meet our needs and is supposed to be for cruise ships. Has anyone tried one of these and have you had any problems? .
  8. I have a 4 wheel walker which folds up from side to side, has a seat, has brakes and weighs about 14 lbs. I know that wheelchairs cannot be accommodated on tenders but I'm wondering if my walker can be lifted onto the tender and taken in to shore. I'm also wondering, once on shore, if it can be stowed on the large tour busses. I have never cruised with a walker before but would really like to take mine as it's much less painful to walk with it and I can keep up better. Thanks for your input.
  9. I have booked a concentrator with ScootAround, one of two companies permitted buy Holland America here in North America.
  10. I do smart casual no matter what cruise line and no matter if it's a dress up night or not. Usually, black pants and a nice top with some nice jewellery. Sometimes a matching jacket. I've only been on HAL once so far but going again. That time, my son-in-law was wearing a sports shirt and slacks and was asked to add a tie when we went into the main dining room.
  11. For various reasons I look for cruises sailing out of Vancouver. I have Platinum Status on NCL but can't use it because they have moved their base to Seattle. HAL and Princess offer me lots of choices and each cruise line has their strengths and weaknesses for me. I loved NCL, found it upbeat, fun and reasonable. I have done one cruise on Princess, lots of things to like but extremely overcrowded. Am booked on a second in the fall. I have done one cruise on HAL and found the ship beautiful, loved the musical choices, the Educational sessions were interesting, it's just a little more staid than NCL. I am booked on another next month. I have wonderful memories of my cruises on NCL and wish I could go again.
