I know right? She's almost the same height as me now!

Yep, we are planning to try to book one for this summer. I really want to experience Alaska! Maybe there will be a review before you go after all. 🙂

I have only been on Caribbean cruises with NCL (4 total) and loved reading your reviews in the past.  Today I was researching for our first Alaskin cruise on Encore and low and behold found this review from you. Thanks once again for the great review. Hubby and I are very excited to cruise on Encore next year 🙂

  2. I just tried booking a Clam Shell using my $50 shore excursion credit. It clearly showed my $50 shore excursion credit would be applied (my name only checked). When I went to check out is came up at a total price of $40.50 and asked for my credit card info.  I spoke to an agent who told me the Shore Excursion Credit must be at least $50 or more.  I could not apply this to the Clam shell.

There is usually at least one plug in the head.

Epic has a capsule type bathroom. There is no plug in there (balcony aft room that I had). Best bet is to buy a battery operated night light, or a flashlight, or even battery operated tea light candles if you don't want to turn on the main light.  Amazon has some sensor lights with built in magnet. You can stick it to the wall.

  4. Was on the Escape on a cruise with over 200 Parrot Heads and they ran out of Landshark beer 3 days into the cruise. They knew we were coming and yet failed to stock enough. Go figure!:)

I think we were on that Escape cruise too...AVTP? :D

  5. No grotto in spice H2O? Loved this on the Escape!! Quick cool off with going back to the pool!!

I do believe there is a water grotto on Bliss. It's not a rock cave, but more like a falling water feature similar to the one on Getaway. If you look at the post "Live from Bliss TA", member "Single Cruiser" took a photo. See post #9. I also love hanging out in the grotto with a drink in hand while cooling off.

  6. We will be on the Gem in July with extended family and stopping at GSC and thinking of a cabana. I laws have a problem with walking long distance. Is there transportation from the tenders to the cabana? Are they worth it,they say you get food and drink vouchers but we already have drink plan and the food on island is free.

I was at GSC last month (Epic) and rented a large cabana. There was 8 in our group. Highly recommend. One in our group is handicap but they were able to arrange a golf cart to take him to our Large cabana #10. I did a lot of research prior. This large cabana is closest to the restrooms however furthest from the free BBQ lunch which is awesome!

We also all had the UBP so drinks were included however our cabana attendant served us so it was not necessary to walk down to the bar area. Also included "free" was a fresh fruit bowl as well as tortilla chips and three different salsa's. The food voucher credit we used for a couple of shrimp platters (which have to be ordered the night before you get to GSC).

All the large cabana's are built up high on a hill, with a steep ramp. I was not a fan of this as flip flops and sand can be a slippery but just took it slow. Why they just did not build stairs is beyond me.

The small cabana's are along the main path, so you don't have the ramp issue but you will have people walking by.

Everyone in my group agreed that is was the most relaxing day and highlight of our trip.
