  1. Thank you for posting your tour pictures and thoughts. I have sailed NCL Escape and Getaway, and have Epic booked for Feb 2018. I am also not crazy about the bathroom set up but I do believe there is a curtain that separates the shower/toilet area from the bedroom area?

  2. Yay Maya Chan! Food pics please if possible as I have sold Maya Chan to my fiance on the promise of awesome Mexican food. Have a fab day!

The food is AMAZING at Maya Chan. Everything delicious. Sadly we had a lot of sea grass last month but it did not deter us from going. Fantastic service. Mark and the staff are wonderful.

  3. That's odd.

My "current international plan"...."Includes Mexico & Canada with your domestic plan"...so no extra costs for me.

I don't have an International Plan. I did once and I think it was $30 for the month. But then Verizon came out with the "Travel Pass" which included Mexico & Canada at $2.00 a day. It was still that rate right up until my cruise last month. When we arrived in Mexico, Verizon sent a text saying the cost was now $5.00/day. In Belize & Roatan it as still $10/day. I never had International included with my domestic plan. Hmmm, is this something new?

  4. It's easy to do a whooops when using smart phone cruising. We have Verizons International plan that lets you use your domestic data plan for $2 a day in Mexico and $10 in other countries. This last cruise, I intentionally used it while in a Mexican port for $2. However, somehow I also accidentally triggered it while in two other ports for $20. You do have to be careful how you select data on and airplane on and off. And as mentioned, the ship wifi plan provides wifi no different than you have at home. Regular calls don't go over it, only through cell towers or in this case the ship's cell tower. I believe Verizon rate for calls while on the ship is $2.50 a minute.

If you have Verizon travel pass, the price for day in Mexico is no longer $2 for 24/hr - they just raised the rate to $5

  5. If you order just coffee in the morning from room service is there a 7.95 charge. First time on NCL for us. Thanks

Not true, you can order coffee, fruit, pastries, cereal without the service charge. The service charge $7.95 only applies if you order specialty items (example, omelets, bacon, etc...).

There is a card in your cabin that you can fill out and request what time you would like your coffee, etc... to be delivered in the morning. Just hang the card on the outside of your cabin door the night before.

  6. I used my own on the Getaway last year and blew a circuit in my cabin. After that I obviously ended up using the one in my cabin and it was fine. I have long thick hair as well. I plan on just using the one in the cabin when I sail the Escape this summer!

I was on Escape last April. It is the same hair dryer as on Getaway. No issue and one less thing to pack.

  7. We just got off of Getaway this past Sunday and friends of ours brought their own hair dryer. Blew the circuit in their cabin. The hair dryer provided is good enough. I have long thick hair and the provided hair dryer works great.

  8. I suspect I was right around 30 or so the week as well. If I get to the point of being a frequent guest on the Escape, I'll definitely camp out at the Brew House some week and make an honest effort at the leader board. Since it was my first time on the ship, I was having too much fun exploring everything to remain stationary for too long a period.

I'm looking forward to your next review Doug. I totally enjoyed your Escape review prior to our first cruise on Escape 4/23. We even called the Brew House "Home" for our whole trip. My husband won the the beer challenge that week with a total of 67. Might have made the overall board had it not been for getting off the ship in port.

  9. Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your review of Escape and photo's. I am a freelance photographer and you certainly have a great eye for detail. We were on Escape two weeks prior to your sailing (4/23) and I feel like I am enjoying our cruise all over again. Looking forward to the rest of your review. PS...did you happen to see who was in the beer challenge lead (District Brew House) that week?
