  1. It depends. If you use a credit card in a store, you could be charged a foreign transaction fee. To prevent that, use a card that does not charge the foreign transaction fee. Or use cash. For example, we always go to the perfumery in St Georges, if we don't watch what card we use, we will get charged the fee. We mostly just pay cash (US dollars). Just make sure you get your change in US dollars too!

  2. I received an email showing the amount they were giving me. And within a couple of days, it was on my account and could be used. But like others have said, it depends on other OBC you receive. In the past, we have decline a $50 credit to get the $100 one.

  3. Also, we sometimes travel with young adults, and the second room is perfect! There is a nice pool as well. We have stayed here many times, last of which was last July. We will be there again this year before our trip on the Equinox. Can't wait!!!

Is there anywhere near the ES to get 12-packs of soda and wine, and other stuff?

Yes, there is a CVS, Walgreens, and a Winn Dixie within a block. Also a whole plaza on the other side with a Publix. Total Wines and more....

    Very Central!

  5. We traveled with Capt Kate on the Summit to Bermuda. We thought it was great to see her and many of her senior officers out and about the ship. You could stop her and speak with her. We just came off of Majesty of the Seas and did not see any senior officers at all-no Captains reception, no senior offices out and about. Very different!

  6. I do not know why, but this cracked me up. :')

I so agree. We received the blessing of the upgrade fairy, probably 20 years ago, once. The ugly step sister appeared this year, and we went from an OV to a balcony for $100 a person. Best deal and we enjoyed the balcony!

  7. We were on Empress 7/16 in cabin 7511. We found the cabin very warm, as did most people on that hallway. We spoke with maintenance several times, and in the end, the solution was they provided a fan for the cabin. If your brought your own fan, it would get you a trip to the naughty room! She is an itty bitty old ship, (IBOS for short), but charming and very easy to walk from end to end!

  8. We came off the Equinox last Saturday. I had been watching the website looking for a dinning deal to appear. Never really found one. Our first stop when we boarded the ship was Murano. We inquired about specialty dinning. The flyer I have says:

    Pkg of 3-$109

    Pkg of 4-$125

    Pkg of 5-$159

    Pkg of 6-$192

    Pkg of 7-$217

We took the package of 7 and ate in Murano every night. They even treated us to lunch on the last sea day!

  9. One reason I like the drink package is I buy before I go--so my cruise is paid for, no surprise on the last day. We enjoy a few drinks a day (we're not driving!) and the water/soda is an added benefit. We sometimes tip a buck or two while sitting at a bar--this is the only time a year we sit at a bar. I don't need to keep track of receipts and make sure I was charged correctly.

  10. We always try to fly in the day before--even if we have to leave the night before, after work and get in really late. Just want to be in the departure city as early as possible, so we don't stress out about missing the ship. We've had too many occasions where flights are delayed/cancelled due to weather, mail, missing flight personal.

  11. We joined the walking tour, which is free and leaves from City Hall (located next to the bus terminal) at 10:30 am daily. We've been to Bermuda five times before; this was the first walking tour we have done. Lead by the Town Crier, it gave us another perspective of Bermuda and took us to several places we had never been before. Price is sure right!

  12. Just returned on June 12th from Bermuda on the Summit. We rode public transit the entire time. Just some info-

    1. The booth near the ship opens at 8 am and closes at 1:30 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

    2. The booth accepts both cash and credit; however there is a 3.75% convenience charge for credit.

    3. The booth only sells 1 and 2 day passes.

For tokens, you need to go to the Visitors info center, they sell passes and tokens.

For tickets, you need to go to Hamilton and purchase them at the info center.

While the official publications state you need either tokens, tickets or coins, they will accept, on both buses and ferries, cash. We saw numerous tourist place $5 or $10 bills in the payment receptacles. Change will not be made. We used $1 coins, and they accepted them, but looked at us funny!
