  1. Enjoying your review as DH and I did the FOS July 27 Eastern Carib trip.

Just love reliving the vacation thru you review!:D

My DH hates the towel charged as you mentioned....

His Marine Corps solution was to re-allocate assets...get 4 towels for the two of us the day before going ashore at the pool where they just give you all the towels you want. Not only was there no deposit for the towels, there was also no line to scan your sea pass when returning to the ship...just toss the towels in the bin and keep going.

  2. I know I've been on several cruises & several times to St Thomas....but stay away from the cruise line snorkel trips as they are cattle calls...people are dense packed and you get kicked. There are many smaller operators in Charlotte Amalie as well as American Yacht Harbor. We normally hire a private sail charter from the latter. Does it cost more, yes; however, it is a better experience--our family are the only ones in the small coves we visit.

  3. We've done both and decided the best for us was two cabins even if not connecting. DH refuses to go to the spa to shower, he says he is on vacation too and does not want to walk over a 1/4 mile [round trip] from our aft balcony just to take a shower! We had our 5 & 10 yr olds across the passageway from us and never had a problem. Just made sure they were in their room, locked in and called them at bedtime if we were at a show. I guess the big decision [and it is personal one for each family] is how comfortable are the parents and children with separate, non-connecting rooms...just 'cause it worked for us doesn't mean it'll work for y'all. By the time they were teens, it was accepted practice and never had any problems with noise or visitors.

  4. Having done 1/2 a dozen cruises on both Princess and RCI, I think the review is great and confirms what we have observed over the years. We like both lines but since DH is now a teacher and we like the Carib, we no longer have Princess as an option for summer cruises...It has virtually abandoned it during the summer. [Recently, CB is the ship that spends the most time there in the summer, been on her twice, but DH doesn't care for her because there is no running track--very important to my Marine.]

  5. matj2000 you are way too trusting.

We were on an excursion where the driver let someone on who he thought was in the group and 8 people lost their wallets.:(

My DH never leaves our stuff alone...it is either in a waterproof container or he posts a gear guard [he is a retired Marine]

  6. I too have a question about the shade. We've been past Coco-maybe twice and hoping to finally making this time. I will burn even with an spf 30....is there really a lot of shade or will I have to 'chase' it all day?

Also, are there umbrellas or clam shells to rent....my pockets are not deep enough for a cabana so please don't suggest one of those.

    Thanks.

  8. Maybe I just have not looked/searched in the correct areas; but, I would love to hear what the music, food and overall experience was like for anyone who recently went dinner & dancing in the Tropicana on Getaway.

Does it really give that feeling of a dinner club with live band dancing?

  9. Another vote for two rooms.:D

Done both and you cant beat having an actual door to close when the adults want a time out from kids.:)

As for supervision, our rule was their [2 DDs] door stays open and ours will be either open or closed. If it was open, they were welcome to visit. If it was closed we were sleeping.;)

My DH especially enjoyed the 2 bathrooms when the DDs were teenagers...he did not want to have to share that space with 3 women during formal night dinner preparation!

And especially important, as noted above, having an adult listed for each cabin means double the wine!!!
