I like the cruise dot com. It currently shows the following haven availability as HE: 11, H9:2, HG:6, HF:4, HC:1, HB:1, H6:7, H5:5, H2:1. In your experience would you say the haven is “selling well” for 80 days out or lagging? Sounds like you have studied these trends in the past maybe. Thanks. I full understand you likely don’t own a crystal ball, just your thoughts from experience.

I’ve been studying them since 2018, example my most recent cruise on the Joy in May, at 80 days out my notes say there were still 38 cabins available, prices for haven continued to drop and by 30 days there were less than 20 and within the last 7 days only 11 haven available that disappeared the Monday of the week of the cruise to never appear again, it’s all about supply and demand what happens on a offseason sailing is not what will happen on a Xmas/spring break cruise.  Happy sailing.

If I purchase an inside cabin on a cruise that will leave in a month, is it possible for me to get an upgrade email, or is it too late?  I don't think the ship is selling well, as the prices have gone done.

Yes but only if you booked direct with ncl or with a ta that participates because a lot of the big box TA’s do not remember just because you get the offer up to 110 days out 95 percent or more are not upgraded until 2 to 5 days before sailing. good luck!

I used the NCL app under “Room Upgrades” where you could put your name & booking number & got the following message…”We are sorry, we have no space available.”  Perhaps I was too early plus others have said that you need to be contacted first my NCL to be able to make a bid.

How much did you have to bid?  I’m new to NCL so was just wondering.

    Tom😀

First if you are more than 110

days out it’s way way to early, second did you book direct or thru a Travel agent a lot don’t participate, not everyone gets the option for upgrade advantage

Thank you very much. I’m in a studio on the Breakaway.  Since I’m in the lowest category perhaps if I get an offer I might have a chance. If that happens I may be back for some questions.

I always do as you mentioned to check the current price of staterooms.

You have been most helpful to a newbie on NCL.

    Much Appreciated.

    Tom😀

The soonest you will see the offer is 110 days out, Also if you booked with a Travel agent make sure they participate in the upgrade advantage program many don’t and then be patient because almost all upgrades are not processed until 3 to 5 days before sailing

We have an October cruise to Canada booked on the Joy and was just told by NCL that they will be sailing at 85% capacity for that cruise.

10 minutes of research shows 402 available cabins right now which is closer to 80 percent capacity at the moment, of course inventory will continue to go down for last minute bookings, interesting though is several havens in most categories available unlike breakaway a few days later with just one left happy sailing

Even using your numbers (which I still say only NCL knows), that's 500 guests to book based on double occupancy.

Capacity is ~4,000 on the Away ships.  That's roughly 12%-13% open occupancy with a month and a half from sailing.

Sounds about dead on what would be considered normal.  Actually, probably a little ahead of schedule.

That was just balconies and remember two categories of balconies are at 100 plus available and have been since I’ve been monitoring since end of may, total cabins that I can see available as of yesterday is 502, their are 2014 total cabins on the breakaway, now I monitored my early may sailing on the joy for months before as well and we ended up at like 60 percent capacity, I know the numbers are nowhere near as low as early May, time will tell happy sailing to all.

There is no legit source.  It’s just noise, like some who have little in the way of experience with NCL.

Those of us who have sailed and shopped NCL, who have lots of experience with NCL, know how they work.  Depending on category, they do dynamic pricing that changes frequently so they maximize revenue while filling the ship.

If there’s a category they need to ramp up, they will change pricing to reflect that.  It can and does change regularly.  Looking at the NE cruises in Oct, Haven fares are high.  That tells me inventory is low for that category.  Inside cabin fares are low.  Tells me they have some inventory they want to move in that category.

It’s super rare any cruise line, on any ship (save the specialty ones), are close to capacity over a month out from sailing.

On line at the WEB site isn’t accurate.  Call your PCC or your TA and ask what’s available.  They have a more accurate look on what’s going on.

Looking at Sept sailings to NE, I see the Spa Category sold out on one of the sailings.  Inside cabins are going for $1,000 per couple on some.  That’s high.

I think you’ll find capacity to be tighter than you think.

My sailing oct 16th, only 1 total haven left but 250 plus balconies including 2 categories with 100 plus for balconies

Can you PLEASE share/hint at this site that shows up to 100 cabins? I've been logged in as a TA and can't even see 100 cabins at a time.

People have suggested it's one of the big box stores, and I agree, they do show more than 15 cabins per deck, but it's still limited to 15 cabins per category per deck.

I'm begging and would be Extremely Grateful!! 🙂

If one decided to google TA in New Hampshire that specialize in cruises one might find a 6 letter TA that particular TA I’ve used successfully for inventory checks and has always been accurate since 2018

Is there any way you can find out at what capacity your ship is booked?  Sailing the Breakaway on October 16, 2022.  Just wondering??

I’m on this sailing been booked for months, and checking inventory weekly on a site I’ve used for years that shows inventory up to 100 not 15, two categories BA and BB continue to show a 10 plus available as they have since I booked this May, definitely not as empty as my early May Joy sailing to Bermuda, insides about a 110 left and clubs like at 50 plus but lots of cabins still available

I’ve been bidding for upgrades for years and have never won one, even with some “good” bids. Does anyone know if all upgrade ranges are the same?  For instance if I have  balcony and I’m bidding on Haven categories, do the people already booked in Haven rooms trying to upgrade to a higher level Haven category have the same bidding range?  It would seem those already in Haven should have a lower range.

Every sailing is different, if you sail in prime time it’s harder to upgrade, it’s also easier to upgrade from an inside to balcony, versus balcony to haven since there are so many fewer havens to go around.  Do you research do mock bookings and if it’s on a weak capacity sailing you might win.  I’m 6 for 8, only always sail off season only 2 not won were balconies to haven

No, no final date.  I just checked it again today and it still says I'm in the lead.

So just to make sure that my screen wasn't frozen or some other odd computer glitch, I threw in another $7 dollars to my bid.  Came back once again that I'm in the lead.

Seems strange after an entire week that I would still be in the lead with 20 other bidders, I'm not going in with any high end bid.

It’s still too soon normally havens are 3 to 5 business days before sailing you should hear soon

Check a photo on the internet of the outside of the joy and see how far forward your cabin is in relation to the lifeboats. If you’re forward of them I wouldn’t worry about it. Even if they were under you I wouldn’t.

It probably just isn’t the most private, peaceful and driest place to be on board. It gets wet and salty if it’s cold and rough seas. There are also surveillance cameras from the bridge peering at most of that deck. But that’s just my opinion, some people love it because it’s close to the bars.

Call and pay the difference to upgrade to one of 60 plus category BA that are still available or BC has 27 available or B4 family has 17.

I paid regular price for a balcony on my upcoming Sept 2 sailing in Europe (no upgrades). All that was left by the time I bought the fare was BF-GTY guarantees. I still haven’t got my cabin allocation.

does anyone know if the NCL systems decide differently about paid guarantees vs. Upgrades? Upgrades are still guarantees right? In that, you could get any balcony in the category? But does anyone know if paid fares get priority in their cabin picks or is it truly random?

Or are the upgrades and fares treated totally separately…

    thanks

There are lots of balcony cabins on that sep 2nd sailing, for example category BA on a TA website out of New Hemisphere is showing currently 69 cabins available just in Ba alone, suggest going to any TA site and do mock booking and you will see cabins available

    Stay well, stay safe💕

Always enjoy your pictures, and if I’m not mistaken you are near my hometown of Rockford I’ll?

  15. It’s been around on occasional we have seen it since last fall if you read thru the main upgrade thread it seems like it’s almost always on sailings that are quite full, I just looked at your sailing and currently there are no havens in any category’s available so all this does is if you increase your bid is give them information to feed the the system to make bids higher in future sailings

  16. The original price paid is not a factor, remember lots of CAS Casino at Sea travelers that have free cabins bid and are successful with the upgrade program.  The upgrade advantage program looks at what you currently bid and what they will get for additional revenue for your original cabin.  Good luck to all and happy cruising!

40 days we leave, it's not letting me choose the inside cabins at all to change and see what they have. I've just checked on window rooms and there's around the same left too. To my understanding this must be running at near capacity, and not 50/60 percent as I've heard?

Try a different website I saw 76 cabins in category IA inside on oct 2nd but only like 27 BA’s which is not a lot, best of luck cruising and not matter what your on a cruise so enjoy!
