For us, it is about 15 minutes or so, from the time we check in until we get on the ship and we go directly to our cabin to drop off our carry ons. Our luggage is not there, ever.

I have only been on one cruise before. We had FTTF and unless I missed something there was no opportunity for anyone to get to their cabins early. They had the entryways to all the cabins blocked off until approximately 1:30 when everyone was let in. Are the policies different by ship? Were we allowed back to our cabin and just weren't aware?

Thanks for any info you have.

I also do a lot of walking and take the stairs whenever possible. Of course this doesn't really offset the extra calories, but it does help. We do fairly active excursions as well, normally. May be a problem this year as my husband is having severe walking problems due to plantar facscitis.

I had a terrible bout of plantar fasciitis a few years ago and of all the things I did to relieve the pain, the best advice came from my local running shoe store. They told me to wear a Strassburg sock while I slept, and I really think this was the biggest part of my recovery. It's not super comfortable but so much better than the hard braces that keep the feet positioned while sleeping. It's not very expensive and worth a try if he is suffering. I went from limping and barely walking to running again with over the counter arch supports in my shoes. I wish him the best and hope he is up and around for your next cruise!

  3. Quoting myself. I read that the hub will be on the Magic for October 1

Glad to hear this, we are crusing in November and I was hoping they would have it by then.

  4. We have only cruised once, but we all loved it so I booked a second immediately after we arrived home and have since booked a third. It's our new Thanksgiving tradition.

The major things I learned is that despite reading pack less than you think you need, we packed way too much. Next time around we will not be packing for formal night, last time we didn't participate. That will save a lot of space in our bags. I also never tried the chocolate lava cake so that's at the top of the list of must dos this time for me. We also got a balcony this time around so sitting outside and having drink of choice will also be amazing. We are 140 days out and I'm ready to go already!
