  1. Thanks. My question wasn't clear sorry. I know there's formal night and how to dress. My question was more of what about the non formal nights. I recall a night to wear white and another to wear tropical i think?  Looking to see what has been the latest so i can plan accordingly.

  2. Hi All - Sailing on the Vista in couple of weeks with group of 8.  I don't recall but I believe there is usually a formal night, white night, tropical night (not sure about htis one).  Any recent travelers can tell me what they had for dress nights?

  3. Hi all-

This is my first time sailing out of Galveston and looking for info on transport from Houston to Galveston port.  Not really into doing shuttle as we don't like waiting on other people - yes I know it's a problem..... LOL

Any info on cost of Uber for two?  There might also be one or two other couples joining which will change the criteria to a private limo service?

    Any help is appreciated!

  4. Looking for some input.  I called Carnival but am typically leery on the what the CSR says as you can get different information from different reps.  We have a second cabin with one person booked, fully paid for.  She may end up being a no show so we want to add a second person in the cabin.  As long as the second person pays their fare, is there an issue if the first person ends up being a no show?  The second person can just check in just fine?  Any input would be great!

  5. Looks interesting as I've been to Grand Cayman twice.  While I like being able to use the hotel facilities, not sure I really need a room too but am going to keep this one in mind.  I've used the resort for a day before on other islands and was happy each time

  6. I've not taken a fishing charter on Aruba but have off other islands in the Caribbean. I'm also the retired managing editor of a fishing magazine, FWIW. You might do well by posting your question on Trip Advisor's Aruba forum. Be sure to say that you are looking for a charter. Basically, in most cases with fishing charters everywhere, you get what you pay for. The most expensive charter may not be the best but it's likely the least expensive one will have less of a boat and (common in the Caribbean) not very good fishing gear. If you want to go to a bit more effort, register for the forum on Sport Fishing Magazine's web site and/or Saltwater Sportsman. I'm sure you would get some good suggestions from the readers.

    Thank you for the information

  7. We are in port next month on FOTS from 7a-11p and looking for a reputable company for a fishing excursion. Looking to give as a wedding gift for my boyfriend's daughter and son in law. Any recommendations? I am not a fishing person so this is all new to me :)

  8. We were in port from 1pm-9pm a couple of weeks ago. Fished with FishCuracao. They arranged a taxi for us from the cruise port- met at the gate, $70 round trip, about a 20 minute trip. On our 1/2 day charter, we landed a 30 pound yellowfin tuna and an approximately 180 pound blue marlin. Missed a few other barracuda and mahi hits. Large comfortable boat, to notch equiptment, lures, and rigged ballyhoo trolling baits. Highly recommended- we will definitely fish with them again. However, with the prevailing easterly trade winds, the seas can be a bit choppy- not dangerous, but lots of movement. If you have any predilection for seasickness, I would strongly suggest taking medication 1-2 hours before boarding. We prefer Bonine/Meclazine- works well with no drozy side effects.

I sent them a message but have not yet received a response. I'm not a fishing person and looking to arrange as a wedding gift. Was the rate on the website per person or for the group as a whole? I was looking at the 4hr trip. Any info appreciated.

  9. To come back and update here is where we are:

    1. Paid in full on 10/12

    2. Filed 25% FCC on 10/12

    3. 10/13 my booking details on carnival.com showed my paid in full booking was $357 less, which is what 25% would have been

    4. I wait and hear nothing about the $357 refund

    5. Call Carnival yesterday and they hadn't processed anything yet, but she processed it yesterday

Moral of the story...call Carnival. Some people claim it came right off their booking price but was not the case with me. Who knows if I ever would have seen that $357 if I hadn't called. Now here's to hoping that gift card gets here by December 1.

I booked on this past Monday and paid in full. Submitted the form and then Tuesday called Carnival. I was told to check my booking in 72hrs and then call back. I was supposed to be on the 10/15 sailing so we received 100% cruise credit. In hindsight, I should have only paid the deposit, have the credit applied and then if any other amount was left to be paid due to price in difference I would have paid that. Since I paid in full, I must now get a refund. The refund is in the same form of payment.

  10. I curious as well. I had my pvp submit mine about four weeks ago. I emailed him when it didn't post after two weeks. He said it can take a while. I wonder if I should resubmit it myself

I would call back. I just spoke to customer service and she was able to tell me the form was received and the credit should be reflected within 72. After that the refund should process in 7-10 days. I'll double check on Thursday since Friday is the deadline for re-booking just to be sure for my own peace of mind.

  11. We were to be on the Dec 10th Fascination cruise. The day after Carnival cancelled all the cruises, I got a call from my PVP and she transfered all monies, including throwing in the discount to a different cruise the same week and it was all settled in a matter of hours.

Airfare was almost as simple, as we booked seperately though Delta and United. Got a credit from Delta for a future flight and re-booked United for the new cruise, with no fees for either.

I received my refund of the original cruise, Oct 15th, within two weeks. We were given 100% future cruise credit and had to submit a form for the return. It's only up the amount of our original cruise. Calling Carnival today to find out and will post back.

  12. The release says, " All guests who were booked on one of the canceled cruises will receive a full refund of their cruise fare as well as all pre-purchased shore excursions and beverage packages."

What happens with airfare, nonrefundable hotel reservations, etc.??

As we well know, cruisefare is only one element of a cruise vacation.

Has this happened to anyone here, especially at such a late date?

One reason why I fly Southwest so not to lose airfare funds and never book non refundable hotel. I know that is not an option for everyone. The hotel we had gave us a refund even thought it was stated as non refundable since we told them we kept calling but getting busy signal. The hotel mgr tried calling the his own number and admitted it wasn't working so gave us the refund.

  13. Our 20th Anniversary trip and family vacation was on the Dec 17th Fascination sailing out of San Juan. We booked with cruise411.com (never again!) and they aren't even aware that ALL Fascination cruises from October 15, 2017 through January 28, 2018 have been cancelled. We found out here on the boards about the cancellation and directed them to Carnival's statement.

Our Cruise411.com phone call was 2 hours long. They had to call Carnival to request the refund, but then Cruise411.com has not agreed to refund their $100 fee, $24.99 processing fee, OR the $396 we paid to them for Leisure Care Insurance. What a nightmare.

We also have 4 airline tickets to San Juan booked - Southwest hasn't received a bulletin or update about Carnival's sweeping cancellations. They told me to call back.

I obviously recognize that this is a "first world problem" but I feel for everyone affected by these Fascination cancellations.

What is it that you need for SW? Did you book air that is refundable? Otherwise you would get a credit to use that you have a year to use the funds. One of the best things about that airline that I love.
