I am fond of the Albergo del Senato, on the Piazza della Rotunda where the Pantheon sits. The rooms are old style - good enough, the building lovely, the breakfast heavenly - but the secret of secrets is that the rooftop bar overlooks the Pantheon and much of the city. Our first evening in Rome with a late drink, olives and tapas overlooking the Pantheon and the piazza is an experience that stands out in my mind as one of the best of my life.

Just booked it myself for us pre and post cruise for August and September 2022 !

The below slide was on a travel agent webinar and describes who they will be "obsessively"  focusing on and marketing to with their new "Always Included" pricing structure and "New Luxury" branding.  It's Gen-X and they are not ashamed to admit that Baby Boomers are no longer the core demographic they want to attract or retain!  It's all about the $$$$, and they see Gen-X as more profitable per guest/day than any other cohort.

That’s me and wifey I guess. It’s actually an accurate summary of us spookily enough.

Well I watched and certainly felt like a cruise bashing programme. Princess mainly.

We watched it last night too, and I would tend to agree. It was a fast moving situation during those days in March.

We cancelled a paid in full July cruise before final pay was actually due and are supposed to get $250 FCC each. We cancelled on April 2 and see no FCC to date. Called One Touch yesterday and was assured we do have that FCC coming.  According to the rep they are still working on May FCC's. She said give it another 30 days. So what have you experienced in these cases, please?

Working on FCC for May departure cruises?

Sadly that will likely cause further delays. Am guessing you are from Europe so rules there likely different from North America and maybe from the UK.  This is truly a mess. We cancelled a cruise on 9 March and got a FCC late May.  Celebrity cancelled a cruise in April - first batch - got the FCC the first week of June.  Daughter was told as of now running 12-16 weeks.

Tough when employees are working mostly from home and difficult to find and train new ones.

Yep, I’m in Ireland, so we deal with the UK Celebrity office.

You were lucky, that’s reasonably efficient, your daughter has a longer haul ahead.

  6. Requested FCC on 1st April, still nothing and they told me yesterday they can’t give any indication as to when the FCC might be issued.

I have initiated a Visa dispute to see if I can get the deposit refunded via chargeback, as I’m wasting too much time chasing these, 330 euros for us, 165 euros for my father in law.

I was told 30 days on 1st April, and again in the 29th May. Both dates have been missed.

And truthfully, they can’t and won’t commit to any firm date of issue, hence why I’m aiming for a credit card claim back.

I haven’t received a voucher yet for our cancelled Apr 17 cruise. I have received many refunds of this and that, i suppose it adds up but haven’t checked lately. But I got curious about my 125% FCC, so I called Celebrity this last Sunday. The lady had to put me on hold for 8-10 minutes while she figured out my account. She then told me how much FCC I was due, I asked for the certificate numbers, she gave me those. I later went online, applied our FCC to a November 2021 cruise I had already booked, quickly got an updated invoice showing zero $ cruise fare.

So, the system works, slowly, and might need patience  and a bit of prodding now and then, but as long as Celebrity holds onto the M-class ships and sails interesting places, we will be aboard.

    Stan

That’s a good outcome. You did well there.

They couldn’t, or wouldn’t do anything for me today despite two calls, incoming and outgoing, said my vouchers ‘might’ issue at the end of July, but there was no guarantee.

We were due to sail 28th May and I requested the vouchers on 1st April.

We have a booking for June 2021, but if I get this credit card dispute finalised and get a refund, I might just cut my losses and revert to land holidays. Celebrity have left a sour taste for me, it’s just a lot of time and phone calls, all for no positive outcome.

  8. I’m raising a dispute with Visa on my credit card.

I requested FCC vouchers in lieu of my deposit on the 1st April. Celebrity told me on the 29th May that they were processing my vouchers, as they had been overlooked. Today they told me it will take another 30 days as it wasn’t processed. That will be 120 days, if it even happens then.

I really have no faith in their system so a chargeback is my only option. Means I won’t have to take a cruise with them. I really think they don’t deserve support if this is how they treat a customer who was willing to keep faith with them as I wasn’t trying to get a refund.

I know I can’t use the voucher yet to go anywhere, but it’s frustrating.

Amazing.  I'm still waiting for my FCC from May 9.

I’m waiting a similar amount of time, only longer. I requested my FCC at the beginning of April, nothing had appeared by the start of June, so I followed up again.

Customer Service told me they had been incorrectly processed and that they would fix that, now three weeks later and still nothing.

I was just coming in here to see have others had any issues.

We’re on the Reflection in May (out of Dublin); waiting to see if she makes it there.  I believe we’re the 2nd cruise of the EU season (vs. first).   Waiting ... our cruise has loads of cabins available now and “zero” price reductions since FP.   Interesting that Revenue Dept is not trying to sell off the high inventory available.

We are booked on that too, and watching closely to see what happens.

Thank you Aiden, you are very kind. I still feel guilty that I wasn't able to maintain my "Live from" musings for the whole cruise :classic_blush:. I  checked out the Celebrity boards for the first time in a while today and was amused to see thread titles along the lines of "Not even close to live from Equinox" and such like!

You are way better than me - I have contemplated trying to do a thread, but I know I'd get distracted. So I was lazy and didn't even try !

  12. I booked a Future Cruise last year, which has free classic drinks and free WiFi for two.

I see now that a standard online booking has free classic drinks and free gratuities included.

I presume id have to wok out which is best value to me, I’d not be able to simply rebook now and get the gratuities perk added in also?

    Thanks in advance.
