  1. Frequent cruiser here- but 1st time at the Steakhouse. Booked a last minute cruise for this week on the Magic. Surprising the hubby with the Steakhouse on the 1st night.

I know on Carnival .com it says not shorts- but follows the MDR/attire. Is there exceptions for the first day? Wanna dress accordingly, not sure if I should pack a change of clothes on the carry on.

Also suggestions for those who have been more than once--- whats your favs???

    Thanks in advance 🙂

It has already been mentioned, but I recommend Daniel Johnson's Monkey and Sloth Hangout.  We bought the excursion directly through their Facebook page that included the island tour, snorkeling and the animals. But, I agree with another poster...you are probably not going to be able to hold the monkeys. Although I didn't see any sitting on top of heads, there was a curious one playing in someone's hair, but she didn't seem to mind.  The monkeys will usually just sit on your arm.  The macaws are a different story. They landed on your head.  And, holding the sloth was so cool!  It just seemed so sweet and loveable. If interested, I also recommend the snorkeling excursion they offer.  Below are two videos; one is taken from pictures of just some of the island tour, animals and snorkeling, and the other is compiled videos of the snorkeling portion of the excursion. Subscribe to KJ Travel Adventures for more videos.

Just a hint for those who are planning to visit the forts. If you have a US national park pass, it will get you into the forts free. If you are age 62 or over and you have a Golden Age passport it is still good but the lifetime senior passes now have gone up to $80 (used to be $10). You can also get an annual senior pass for $20. If you have a senior pass you can take 3 other adults with you free; children under 16 are also free. Active military and those with a permanent disability are also eligible for a free pass. They MAY have passes for sale at the forts; the last time I was in San Juan I forgot to take my pass and when I asked about buying another one they were out of them. The US National Park website has information about the parks and passes.

The regular admission price for the forts is $7 and includes both forts.  If you don't have a pass and don't have plans to visit any other national parks this would be your best alternative, but I thought I'd remind those who do have a pass to take it along. I plan to pack mine this time!

Ok awesome info, now is the state pass the one you add to you tags at SOS or is this something different? Thanks!

  4. We are doing this excursion in   2 weeks. Do they allow you to take water proof bags, cameras, or cell phone cases? Do do they make you lock everything up?. We are not doing it thru the cruise line, we booked through shoreEx...  and I've looked different place and not seen any info, so any input would be great! Thanks in advance!

Also any info on lockers there would be great as well 🙂

  5. Me, hubby, and the kids love formal/elegant night, we normally go all out and have fun with it suits/tuxs & gowns, but on longer cruises when theres a second one, we normally go causal-to-nice, but dont stress it at all. Im not a hair & makeup gal, by NO means but playing dress up is fun. But since im on vaca, id rather spend an hour by the pool, rather than getting all dressed up for a second time. Just my 2cents 😎

  6. Hey everyone, does carnival do price adjustments? I booked directly through their site. I booked a few months ago for a 2019 cruise. Now it's $40 cheaper and offering $100 OBC vs the $50 I got when I booked. Any advice is appreciated .

  7. Taxi is 18 for 2 ppl. Each add'l person is $4.

The jitney (bus) is $1.25 and drops you just 2 short blocks from the port entrance.

Jitneys run from 6am - 6 pm. After that you need a cab.

Ok awesome, how close is their route to Breezes?

  8. Just got miback from there a few days ago. We paid cash, no problem. We did not want to have any credit card problems. As for the beer, I never saw any bottled beer. They had a few on tap, only one I recognized was Kalik, which was good, I thought somewhat comparable to bud light. They made good drinks and they were endless. The beach was beautiful and clear, we kayaked and did the paddle boat, swam in the pool. The food was good too, a nice buffet, and the grill near the beach had really good conch fritters. I would definitely go back! We took a taxi there for $18, but took the bus back to port for $1.25 pp and it was just as quick and easy. The front desk staff showed us the stop, and the locals on board were friendly, asked us how our vacation was, etc...

Hey question for ya, we are doing Breezes this friday, and I've been looking for info about transport. The tact is it 18 per person or couple? And the bus how close to the cruise dicks?

    Thanks!
