  1. We're on Ponant March 20th Jewels of the Sea from Tahiti to Fiji.  5 of our 9 ports (Cook Islands, Samoa and Wallis & Futuna)  are closed to cruise ships.  We haven't heard anything yet on itinerary changes.   Neither my husband and I will be happy with 7 full sea days (we already had 2 sea days).

I've emailed Ponant several times but all emails have gone unanswered.  We may not find out until right before the cruise.

We're regular cruisers on Seabourn, Crystal and Windstar so are used to the odd couple of port changes.  But this is a bit much.  The only reason we went with Ponant is because of the itinerary.

  2. We're booked on Ponant Le Soleal Mar 20th Tahiti to Fiji cruise.  Due to COVID 19, 5 (Aitutaki, Palmerston, Apia, Matu Utu and  Alofi Island) of our 9 ports of calls are not permitting entry to cruise ships.  I've sent emails to Ponant but have heard nothing.  What is the likelihood of finding alternate ports?   It seems all islands from Bora Bora to Fiji are closed to cruise ships.  Will be very upset if our 13 day cruise ends end with 7 sea days!!

We sent emails to Ponant but have not heard anything back.  There is a Paul Gauguin leaving Easter Island tomorrow to Tahiti.  Will be watching to see their itinerary changes.

  3. I know how you feel!    On our March 7th Le Soleal French Polynesia cruise, 5 (Aitutaki, Palmerston, Apia, Matu Utu and  Alofi Island) of the 9 ports of calls are not permitting entry to cruise ships.  I've sent emails to Ponant but have heard nothing.   I've been on many other cruises with Seabourn, Crystal and Windstar and appreciate port changes happen.  I can't believe that we are getting no response from Ponant when over half the ports are cancelled!!     We in our 50s.  At first I was just concerned about the cruise itinerary but now given the rate COVID 19 is spreading we're concerned about getting stuck quarantined somewhere.   Our flights to Tahiti and back from Fiji go through LA which is hot spot.   As everyday goes by, the more and more I want to get out of this cruise.

    Good luck on your refunds!!

  4. Just wondering if you have tried to cancel with Ponant and they will not provide full credit? I read their coronavirus update and it looks like the ability to postpone was limited to those in transit via areas prohibited by CLIA and/or Ponant?  It wasn't clear to me.  I'm calling tomorrow to confirm.

  5. I've looking into refund policies on our flights via LAX should we decide to cancel our March 20th Ponant French Polynesia cruise.   We have Air France business class 100% refundable.   I booked a cost saver Business Class on Fiji Air and they told me it is only 50% refundable per standard cancellation policy.  When asked about extenuating circumstances due coronavirus, they said it will be handled on a case by case basis.   I haven't looked into credit card insurance yet.

  6. We're booked on Ponant Le Soleal leaving Tahiti on March 20th travelling through Cook Islands and Wallis and Futuna to Fiji.  I have been monitoring the local press and it seems that Wallis and Futuna, Aitutaki and Samoa may not be granting entry to any cruise ships.  Has anyone else heard this?   If this is the case, 4 out of 9 ports of call are impacted.  I have reached out to Ponant but have not gotten a response on status of these ports of call and whether there is an updated itinerary.
