  1. Nope, just the thought of not being able to get fresh air or see whats outside or what time of day it is or where we are gives me the utter fear. Really claustrophobic. Even tho balconys are more expensive i would rather cruise a little less and go for a balcony or suite. Wish i could go for an interior and be happy but i know i would struggle.

  2. Yes, I think they must share a kitchen. My feeling is that they weren't too flexible on D2 but if you don't ask, you don't know. Make sure you ask a head waiter rather than just one of the waiting staff though.

Btw, you are certainly not alone in liking sea days. I love them and for me, they are the whole essence of a cruise.

Me too britboys, i really love being on deck or eating dinner while out in the middle of the ocean, love it. Love a relaxing sea day exploring the ship and taking it easy. Actually is one of my fovourite parts of cruising. Thats why i love this size of ship because u can prety much always see the sea and the view no matter where u are on the ship. Looking forward to relaxing on the balcony getting the sea air. Though im convinced it makes you want an early night, i always feel like i need my bed by 10pm lol. Esp when your up at 7 for an excursion ! :)

  3. Good idea, will get him to go check and see if there is anything he would eat. Heres a question, im guessing surf n turf share a kitchen, i wonder if the would allow u to pick sumthing of the oppisite menu as long as u paid the price for the menu u picked? Just a thought. 🧐. If i was taking a kilt it would be kilt and shirt and waitcoat only lol doubt i would have room for the jacket too. I will wait and see lol.

  4. Lol any of you ever asked for info from viking ? I asked for a viking ocean brocure to be sent out a few years ago and ever since iv been bombarded with stuff. Enough email books, magazines, papers, offers, calendars, guides, flyers, you name it lol. All look like they would cost a lot to make, they must spend loads on marketing. Def the worst/best company iv seen trying to intice you to book with them. To be fair tho i really am considering trying them mabe this year or next so it might have worked lol. What is strange is iv been 4 royal caribbean cruises and even tho they have my email i barely ever get anything from them. Iv always booked a suite and spent a lot with them, inc flights and hotels you think they would try and seek out repeat buisiness.

  5. I would have loved a call to upgrade, we booked a balocony but wanted a suite but none were left cos we booked quite late. Mabe the sailing your on is not very full. All companys that you give your email too normally badger you. Agreed it can be anoying, tho sumtimes it can be an offer or info u actually want lol. I also agree that tui/marella aint quick at contacting you if there is a problem lol

  6. Im not sure if when ur booking in the uk and your price drops whether or not the cruise like will reduce it for you if you ask or give u onboard credit or an upgrade or what ever, im sure here in they uk they dont its just tough basicly. Which is kind of a shame to be honest. Sumtimes i feel like we always get the raw end of the deal lol. Best prices iv seen are either right when the cruise is being realesed or a month or so before it departs . But then by then a lot of the rooms we want ( jr suites or suites ) are away. But sumtimes u can be lucky. Just keep checking. If u see a price really u like book it. And dont be tempted to do it tomorow, cos iv seen prices almost double over night or a few days and been gutted.

  7. I was on quantum for 12 nights a few years ago and LOVED dynamic dining, yes u had to think a bit in advance but they had planners online so you could just pick where ever u wanted to eat then arrange your shows or night around it. It was great. I think where i failed was that a lot of passengers are a bit older and not as comfortable with going online themselves and booking it all. For the younger generation im sure it would have been fine. One problem i could see tho as if you booked your cruise late then a lot of places would be fully booked so that would be disapointing. Quantum class ship was built to be different and ahead of its time. Perhaps appealing to a younger generation.

  8. Hey this is a bit of a random question but does anyone know the reason why this ship ( formerly royal caribbeans splendor of the seas ) now opperated by marella is shown to have over 200 less passengers on board. When it was splendor of the seas it had 2076 passengers and now marella shows it as 1830. Just interested in the reason.

  9. Hey guys, has anyone used the spa services on discovery 1. Are they any good ? Im thinking about trying it when im onboard in feb/march. Does anyone have a price list or list of available treatments. Does the spa have a steam room and/or sauna, if yes is the use of them included in your treatment. Thanks in advance. 10. Little question guys, im guessing that there will be 2 formal/ dress up nights on a 14nt cruise ? Do most people make an effort or not ? Just trying to decide if its worth the space to pack a suit or kilt. I enjoy getting dressed up but dont want to be the only one lol. We were planning to try get booked into surf n turf a few times too so could dress up a bit for that too. Another question, sum other cruise lines do not allow jeans or ripped jeans in the dining room. Is this the case with marella ?

  11. Glad to hear about the ship now having lots of sunbeds so,ton saint, because that was a problem on it a few years ago. Sea days were a NIGHTMARE. So very glad to hear this. Iv noticed thomsons cruises dont have that many sea days in there itineries, am i the only one who loves a sea day lol, sometimes having a port every day can be exausting, n i feel guilty if i dont get off the ship and explore this new place im at lol.

  12. Pleased you are not put off, we have fifty plus cruises with them and yes customer service is lacking, always has been and IMO will not change, but for us the cruise experience with them is exactly that which we require. I don't think we have low standards others may suggest that but be have no concerns with booking Marela. I am certain if you go with an open mind, as it appears you are, you will have a great time. Your first week will be our second so hopefully we will have a good cruise.[emoji2]

Yep, im betting we will both have a great cruise, anything beats this horrible weather in the uk. I have read a lot of good reviews and reports about thomson so thats all comforting. I have realistic expectations, also which i think some people on here lack lol. The last time we cruised it was in a grand suite on harmony of the seas, on its inaugural season, im not expecting the same experience or level of service ( nor should i for the price ) I have been on this ship ( when it was splendor ) a few years ago and loved it. [emoji846] Heres Hoping we all have a fantastic time
