extra's are never a problem, BUT, understand that normally each course is sequentially served, so if you wish extra's you can ask for all of them to be served at the same time so you or your table mates don't have to wait while you slowly eat 14 appetizers for them to receive their maid course or disserts.

Since the restart across several lines they pretty much put all the dishes you asked for on the table at about the same time. Now if you ordered 5 they can't fit them, but my last royal cruise they'd always put the second item ordered on the table once everyone got their first one.

  2. While it definitely sucks, thinking royal just wouldn't have sold these cabins in not realistic. For one when the sailings first went on sale royal had no idea they would need to block off cabins. And for two stuff is so up in the air that they're not going to move people months in advance. My friend is on the quarantine deck for odyssey and just got moved less than 30 days in.

  3. As stated above they're just a new design of the age of double walled plastic cup. Better insulated than the glasses they give you, but the yeti will last longer.

Frankly I'm lazy and usually don't want to bother with rinsing it out (I tend to change up my drink order) so with the drink package I just order a new drink if the ice melts before I finish it.

  4. Degrading the status has been talked about for years in here in respect to kids and partners inheriting the status for life. Especially since for partners it's essentially living with do one pinnacle could pass it on to lots of people if they're a serial monogamist. Hence the jokes when single people reach pinnacle if they want a partner in c&a status.

But so far it's been years with the policy and Royal hasn't fixed it yet.

I'm about to hit diamond next month so I no longer care my friend wouldn't let me put his address down to get his status... so I don't care what royal does lol

At 23 if my parents told me that I was going to go on a cruise with just my family, and I have to room with my sister, I would have bailed too. lol

Everyone's situation is different of course, but at 23 they are probably enjoying their life and independence and would rather hang out with their friends than be "stuck" with their family for a week.

It's possible! At 23 I had just started my first career job and was broke after getting my first solo apartment and all that expense. Would have taken almost any vacation since I couldn't afford one for well over a year! And actually I think my first vacation was a family one too because it was cheap lol

Plus my family is lame and goes to bed by 10 - just like our family cruises when I was in my 30s it was like I was by myself after 10pm. And cuz I stay up late they don't expect to see me until close to lunch lol.

If a family is more uh...clingy than mine I guess I could see it.

  6. So I think the problem is you account should have been showing the points your parents had when your account was unconnected from theirs. My friend got diamond from his parents, but didn't show his point total until after the last cruise when he personally finally had more than his parents did when he turned 18. (So for example his account showed 100 points even when he had only actually earned 78.)

They connected his account to yours so he now has the points you have. They technically match the points not the status...the status just follows the points. For some reason your account is only showing 76 points but giving you diamond, but when they match the points to your husband he gets emerald because diamond is 80+.

So that's why he's not diamond. I couldn't say if a call would help because based on your points you shouldn't be diamond... if you got diamond from your parents you should see 80+ points on your account.

my guess is his fare was bought on some kind of bogo50 offer that rccl loves so much, this makes that second passenger very cheap often cheaper then the solo supplement.

I don't constantly price cruises, but I've honestly can't recall seeing on royal where the fare of one person is more than what the fare of two people is. I've definitely booked during the sales where it's x off the second passenger and my solo fare was exactly the same as the fare for two people (with the exception of gty fares you often can't book as a solo).

I'm actually okay with not getting any refund on the 23-year-old. The price on the cabin was so reasonable, I just don't want them to hit me with a solo supplement for $500 more than what I've already paid.

The two cabins are booked under separate reservations, but linked in Cruise Planner. Linking reservations allows one to book for the whole party, in this case, 4xUDP and 3xDDP.

Aye so yea you can't cancel one without canceling everyone. You'll get the refund eventually when he no shows, but if you cancel you're stuck rebuying everything at current prices. I think even though linked you could at least cancel and rebuy the drink package for just two if the price is ever the same. Not sure if UDP has to be the whole cabin?

As for the solo supplement... it's pretty much never more than the cost of 2 in a room unless you choose gty. (A lot of the time royal won't let solo cruises buy gty.) The only way the overall cost would go up is if the cost of the cruise is currently higher than you booked - that's not really the solo supplement it's just the current pricing. ie if when you bought it was 500pp and the price is the same but for a solo it's 1000 then it's not really an increase because you were paying 1000 for the cabin. But if say the solo rate is now 1500 it's almost guaranteed it's that because the per person rate is 750 now... meaning if you booked a cruise now for 2 people you'd be paying the 1500 for the cabin.

  9. I think you misunderstood the whole cancel after final payment. Unless I'm missing some fine print, you'd essentially have to let the 23 year old no show. You'd get his taxes and fees back, but not his fare.

I'm not sure on the other things because it sounds like you logged into your account and bought everything in one transaction even though it's two cabins? I've only ever been given the option to buy things for those with my cabin.

Thank you all for your thoughts, I realy appreciate it😀

We dont mind a cruise with intensive portstops. Anyway we can just be staying at the ship if the kids are tired, but having the choice to go of the ship I think is a positive factor.

Though, both Aruba and Curaçao facinates me, but I am not sure if all the seadays will be a bit boring…

Whether it's boring or not depends on if you cut off your kids access to the carousel or you let them ride it all day!

Yeah, but it happened once and I think there are folks that don't want to (again) be at Canada's mercy.  It was a rubber stamped, near unanimous voice vote.  Why?  Because, contrary to popular belief, the folks in Washington welcome bi-partisan non-controversial legislation that can provide some semblance of "progress."

It was rubber stamped in more or less an emergency situation. If it wasn't so specific, so short term, and covid relief it wouldn't have. The issue is complex and can't just be waived away easily. It's more than just rewriting one part of the PVSA.

  12. With the Alaska season opening up in April and Canada providing a way for cruises to go to them, odds are highly against Alaska cruises being able to skip Canada again. I would not count on it.

All cruise lines should start releasing protocols for Canada sailings soon. They're probably in the process of talking with Canada to get clarity. They're probably hoping to not have to reverse itineraries.
