Let me assure you that your comments did not cause any offence they most defiantly were not received as either critical or sarcastic, they added to the discussion.

The main point being, the acceptance of the fact that cars are parked on site and sometimes off site, on overspill sites

Having a discussion last evening, regarding my sat-nav, with someone who is well versed in the technology,he suggested that, it not being turned off, and still being connected to the satellite, it recorded the outward journey, however as there was no further activity for some 17 days, it then shut down.

This seemed to make sense to me.

Take all your points, except for the vastness of the docks. Suggest you put them on Google Earth, say Mayflower Dock Southampton, then pull out the screen until you get a full view of the area. Then pan in to the screen, and take account of the amount of space taken up by the import/export vans and car,and also the shipping containers.I think you will be surprised.

As I have said before I have no axe to grind.

  3. Port Out

If that be the case, then my query is justified, in as much, as my sat nav, has been further in my car then I have!

Also dispels the myth, that all cars are stored in the docks.

As I have previosly said, I have no axe to grind on this, just pointing out, that it appeared a bit odd!

Sorry I have not mentioned any mileage difference, I do not check it.

If my car is there on my return, undamaged then that in my books, is a result.

My sat nav suggested it had been on a journey, just wondered how and why.

  5. No real reason to,they took it away on arrival, and returned it when disembarked. If they had to take it to a overspill car park in the meantime so be it. Would have just like to have been aware that this could be the case.

Every one appears to say: parked within the dock area, may be may be not?

  6. I did not say that they had used it, only that it was left on.

When I returned to my car,and regained it out of my centre consul,it was energised with that destination.

It struck me as strange,so have been considering the various possibilities.

    Not unhappy either way.

  7. Sorry, I think that I may not have got my point over.

If the cars are taken away, and later put on a transporter, no mileage will ensue.

My sat nav was at the bottom of my central console.

This was not possible the company that I used, but the query was a generalisation.

My car was collected by the side of the ship.

I have no problem with this method if that be the case, just want to fully understand the method.

  8. If you are worried, why book it?

As mummsie says, go with the flow.

You get good and bad, its the mind set that counts.

If you look for problems, they will be there!

If you don't, you will not notice.

  9. Cruise shore excursions cannot cater for everyone's needs. frequent wash room visits, and being a wheelchair user, such as my partners needs, are not possible within a group environment, Therefore the cost is not relevant to us.

Private tour guides who are well informed of our needs, prior to arrival, work best for us.

St Petersburg, we have booked a guide, a driver, and a student to push the wheel chair, for the two days we are there.

Love to join everyone else on the ship excursions, but would not be comfortable in doing so.
